[COLOR=Navy][SIZE=2]Following along with you and enjoying your trip sooo much.
I see you bought the two day passes-if you are going to Horseshoe Bay tomorrow-you can take the bus there. When you get off the bus, look for a guy with a van-for $1 or $2 /person he takes you to the bottom of the hill. Then when you are ready to leave, look for him again and he will take you up the hill for the same price to get the bus
-saves alot of walking.
If you don't want to take the bus-there are vans when you get off the BA-for $16/person round trip they take you directly to the beach and pick you up again. They give you a ticket for the return trip.:)
Really enjoying your reports-thank you for taking the time.

Will be watching you sail down the Hudson in just a few minutes. Before when I mentioned the Holland House in St, Maarten, I should have said we are going to use the beach facilities and look for Roy, beach attendant you mentioned. Don't know the name of it but at the Water Front bar they had a drink that had I believe Kahlua, ice cream-it was so good. Really almost too nicely presented to drink LOL.:)

I'll be following along also. So enjoyed your Gem trip. We were on the BA in June and will also be on her next June, but not in the Haven (sigh). Took your advice and plan on going to the Holland House in November. Looked great from your pictures. By the way, we are from south jersey also. Have a wonderful trip-will be living vicariously for the next week.:)

Our Friend would like to join us on the Breakaway next May from New York. She cannot stand for a long time at all. If she books and asks for wheelchair assistance getting on and off the ship how is this handled? Where would she obtain the wheelchair-is it after going up the elevator? Is there a handicapped line for checkin or would she have to wait in a regular line? She doesn't want to rent a wheelchair since she never gets off the ship in port. How about leaving the ship-is there a special place that handicapped people gather to be helped?

Thank you. We've always stayed in a mini but was wondering if we would really notice the difference. As my DH said-I don't cruise in the bathroom. LOL
-
I realize the bathrooms in the balcony staterooms are smaller. How is the size of the rest of the stateroom compared to the mini-suites. Has anyone stayed in both and can compare the feeling of space? Did the balcony stateroom feel cramped. Thanks for any answers.
-
OK thought it was one way. But worth it to save DH walking. Thanks again from a fellow NJ'er.
-
Thank you for the advice. Think that is the way we will go.
-
Yes, I meant the BUEI. Any idea how much a round trip taxi fare would be? If all else fails, may just take the Ferry and walk on Front St. for a bit. Have to see how he feels-just so thankful he is doing as well as he is.
-
We are planning on purchasing the transportation passes. Need help figuring out how to get to the museum. DH recovering from brain surgery and can't walk very far. Thought of taking the ferry to front street, than catching a bus up to the bus terminal. Or would we be better off taking the bus from the dockyard? Coming back from the museum-will the bus drop us off on Front St. to catch the Ferry?

Thank you for the replies. DH is die hard hockey fan so just maybe will be able to track down some games. One can only hope LOL. Next year I will be "hockey smart" when booking.
-
LOL-starting my arm exercises now!!
-
We are leaving June 7th. Does anyone know if you can watch the Finals on the Breakaway? Booked this cruise without thinking about hockey (shame on me). Husband will be soooo disappointed if he can't watch.

Thank you triptolemus-it works great. Just was confused why the nlc site doesn't have them.
-
Are the bridge cams all down on ncl.com? After I go on site and go to page where ships are-usually if I click on a picture of a ship-a screen comes up that allows me to go to the webcam-haven't been able to do so lately. Anyone know what has happened?
-
I'm curious also. We are booked for the 12 day leaving Dec. 1st. Was wondering if the mini-suites, balconys etc. will also be getting a face lift. We've been on the Gem 3x's in the past 2 years=love, love the Gem. What about the buffet? Noticed it was getting rather tired looking last time. I guess whatever was done to the Jewel will probably be the same as the Gem.
Any recent Jewel cruisers care to share your observations? Thank you all who reply.
-
Were the mini suites carpets and furniture refreshed on the Jewel? We are going on the Dec.1st. Gem cruise. Love, love, love the Gem-fourth year in a row sailing on her.
Anyone know if any new slot machines were added to the Jewel? Figure if they upgraded the carpeting and Haven suites on Jewel maybe they will do the same to the Gem.
-
Sorry, didn't realize I had to do that-I 1st. posted on the day the Gem was leaving (Monday).
-
Just looked again-she is on her way down the Hudson-can't wait to see her on NY harbor webcam-will be wishing for calm seas and beautiful weather for all of us. LOL
-
We'll be on her when she returns also. Sure dinner is being served now-YUM!
-
Just checking NY harbor webcam and haven't seen the Gem. Anyone have any idea why she is still in port?
-
I have thinking about them all day and praying for their families safety. We have met so many wonderful crew members, agree it must be so hard to be away from them. God Bless.
-
My deepest sympathy to you and your family. Your Dad would be so proud of you-he raised a very caring and thoughtful daughter.

Enjoy the beach and watch the sun. If you go to Hamilton, try the Hog Penny-great English pub and cool Tshirts. Whatever you decide we will be waiting for your pictures and reports. :)
