  1. I also had online reservations fouled up. I booked two cabins, side by side. The total was correct on the screen, but I monitor my credit card closely, and i was billed for only one cabin. I had to call and remain on hold and pray that the other cabin did not sell in the meantime. They could not explain the error. But we sail day after tomorrow, so nothing’s gonna get me down!

  2. I'm expecting a $50 OBC from RCL stock ownership on a 4 day cruise I just booked.  Since the beverage package deals are likely ending today, I went ahead and booked it using my credit card.  When the RCL stock OBC gets posted to my account, can I have $50 refunded back to my credit card?  Thanks for any insight into this dilemma.

  3. Spoke too soon.  Now back to just the original flight arriving at 12;51 AM.  If nothing changes in the next 48 hours, I'll call FBC and ask for a supervisor to explain the problem to me since Air Canada has told me on several occasions that there is no problem with the change.  I did get an email from FBC saying itinerary change, but no details.  I've received these before, but only when Air Canada changed things or after a frustrating phone call just to let me know that they did not change anything.

  4. I'm convinced the issue is with FBC.  I talked to another Air Canada agent today who saw all the time changes (3 so far), and said this should be no issue.  She said she put an "OSI" on the file and said that she had noted Air Canada had authorized a change to "M" class, with earlier flights.  I called FBC, and once again, they had to "refer to ticketing".  This time, though, she said she had marked it as an "escalation" instead of a request.  We'll see if there's any progress this time.  This will make the fifth time I've requested FBC to make a change authorized by Air Canada.

  5. 51 minutes ago, If only said:

Air Canada has a flight about every hour to Vancouver, but unfortunately Celebrity air doesn’t have access to them all.  If you are before final payment maybe you should think about not using Celebrity Air & deal directly with Air Canada. When using Celebrity Air you have to be pretty flexible.

I realize that now and only used Celebrity Air because of the flight credit promotion offered. Unfortunately, we are after final payment now.   I'm wondering if we get to Pittsburgh a few hours earlier, whether they would allow same day change to earlier fights.  I've read Air Canada charges for this, but am wondering since they made the schedule changes, whether it might be a possibility to do it without change fees.

  6. We booked one way tickets from Pittsburgh to Vancouver last July when Celebrity was running an airfare credit promotion.  Originally, the flight was to arrive at 11:36 pm on Thursday night, the day before the cruise.  I booked a nearby hotel with a shuttle that runs until 12:30 am.  Three times Air Canada has changed the flight arrival time, moving it later until now we are arriving at 12:51 am Friday morning, so now we will have to pay for a taxi/uber to the hotel.  Three times I have requested Flights by Celebrity to ask Air Canada to change our flights to arrive  before midnight and three times Air Canada has refused (per Flights by Celebrity).   I have spoken with an Air Canada agent who says that it should be allowed since they changed the flight times, but Flights by Celebrity says that when they submit the request due to schedule changes, Air Canada denies the request.  Now, prices for flights from our departure airport to Vancouver are through the roof and the flights we are on don't even show up as a selection.  I'm guessing it is just a very busy travel day and with the discounted flight, Air Canada won't even bother.  I won't be choosing Air Canada in the future, especially if using a travel agent.  I'm happy to be cruising and will just take a nap as soon as I get on board!

  7. We will be taking the 8.5 hour Major Marine tour on Friday after arriving on Celebrity Millennium and the spending the night.  We have the day in Seward on Saturday before catching the Coastal Classic to Anchorage Saturday evening.  Is the Alaska Sea Life Center an all day thing, or should we plan on something else in the afternoon.  There is a Zip Line that also looks interesting and we could do that in the afternoon, but if the Sea Life Center is worth an all-day visit, I don't want to plan to do too much.  Thanks for any insight.

  8. Can anyone recommend some sites to see around Juneau if we are able to drive?  We are planning a visit to the Mendenhall  Glacier Visitor’s Center and have a car reserved for the day. We are doing whale watching in other ports and flight tours are too pricey for our budget. Open to suggestions!  Thank you!

  9. I have a Chase Sapphire Preferred - just as a point of information, pre-existing condition does have a definition in the full benefits description (see below).  So my interpretation is as long as you haven't seen a physician for 60 days prior to booking or had active treatment for the condition, the policy still covers.  Example: if you take medication for heart disease and take medication for such, as long as you have not had treatment for 60 days prior to booking, you would still be covered.  Am I reading this correctly?

Pre–existing Condition – illness, disease or accidental injury

of You or Your Traveling Companion, Your Immediate Family Member or the Immediate Family Member of Your Traveling Companion, for which medical advice, diagnosis, care or treatment was recommended or received within the sixty (60) day period immediately prior to the initial deposit or booking date (whichever occurs first) of a Trip; the taking of prescription drugs or medication for a controlled condition throughout this sixty (60) day period

will not be considered to be a treatment of illness or disease; additionally, regular antenatal care, through twenty–six (26) weeks gestation, provided it is a single, uncomplicated pregnancy which does not arise from services or treatment associated with an assisted reproductive program, including but not limited to in vitro fertilization, is not considered to be a treatment of illness or disease

  10. There are several White Pass railway excursions listed that are currently on sale.  I actually booked an excursion on the railway last spring during another sale, but the number of excursions were limited.  My current excursion is simply "White Pass Scenic Railway".  At the time, the cost was less than it is now with the 35% cyber discount.  But now I'm seeing several other Railway excursions.  The one I booked is still the most expensive, but is only the round trip railway.  There is another that is actually cheaper that is for Goldrush Sled Dogs and White Pass Train.  Is there any advantage to taking the train round trip versus getting off for the additional features of the sled dogs, etc.?   Is there additional scenery on the way back that is "don't miss"?  Thanks!

  11. Good Morning!

We are cruising aboard Celebrity Millennium northbound from Vancouver to Seward May 26, 2023-June 2, 2023.  We plan to do a land tour from Friday, June 2 to Thursday, June 8.  I've specifically reserved cabin 6030 - part of the sweet sixteen, starboard side, forward.  Would you leave that cabin assignment alone?

Given the additional $1000 for car rental for oneway to Fairbanks, we are electing to return to Anchorage the evening of June 7 to fly out around noon on June 8.  Of the two couples (all of us over 65), two are pretty physically fit, and two have some mobility issues (bilateral knee replacement for one, and easy fatigue from myasthenia for the other).  Both are mobile and can get on and off tour buses, but no long hikes for them.  I've been looking at hotels, vrbo's, airbnb's, etc.  Some are already gone for next summer, so I need to move quickly.  I would welcome input on itinerary and "must see" things.  Here is what I'm thinking right now.

June 2 - Kenai fjord boat tour after disembarking, then take evening train to Anchorage and overnight there.

June 3 - Pick up rental car, visit Alaskan Heritage Center and possibly another tour?  Drive to Talkeetna

June 3-4 - Overnight in Talkeetna, What are the top things to do there?

June 4- 6 - Denali!   Are there any gentle hikes that we could do together.  Also perhaps one up to 5 miles for the two that can do it.  Bus tour morning of June 5 -bus tours for next summer cannot be booked until December 1, I believe.  We would take an early morning bus tour on June 5. Visitors center after.  Would love some other suggestions for the group.

Debating spending a 3rd night in Denali or driving to Fairbanks June 6-7.  If we did go to Fairbanks, that makes the drive back to Anchorage on June 7 pretty long.  Is it worth it for just one night?

Thanks to all you previous Alaska visitors for your input.  This will likely be our only trip, and though I know it is not long enough, I have critters (horses and dogs), that I can't leave for more than two weeks.

  12. I made a future reservation on my last cruise this past February. I paid a minimum deposit and asked that the reservation be transferred to my credit card travel agency in order to take advantage of travel credits earned. Since that time we’ve been having fraud issues with the credit card and the credit card company continues to pass through charges from a major mail order retailer in the old number and is unwilling or unable to stop the fraudulent charges.  I have locked the account but get email. notice that fraudulent charges continue to be attempted.  I cannot use this card so will be closing my account. Obviously I do not want to deal with this major credit card or their travel agency in the future. Am I able to transfer this reservation back to the cruise line without penalty?  The agency has literally done nothing. Thanks for any feedback.

  13. We won an upgrade bid to Aqua class. The cabin we were assigned is under the fitness center and I’m a bit concerned about early morning noise. Mock booking shows many vacant Aqua class cabins for our sailing this Saturday. I’m very happy with the upgrade but was wondering whether we might ask to move to a different cabin at check in. Anyone with this particular experience and any luck in changing cabins?  Thanks.

    General Comments (offer details, etc.)

there are some advantages to Covid.

  14. Similar situation here.  We are to sail Jan 29 on reflection.  I checked the moveup offer from Veranda to Aqua over the weekend and it had dropped 30% since first receiving the notice in December.  I bid slightly over the minimum on Jan 16.  Mock booking shows about 75 aqua cabins unassigned, and more than unassigned 100 verandas.  My bid went to "pending" yesterday with no ability to modify or cancel.  Hoping that means we won the bid, but I have not been billed on my credit card yet.  Our traveling companions did the same bid and they, too, are in pending with no ability to modify or cancel.  I wonder how long it takes them to charge the card and then how long to see our new cabin assignment?  I keep telling myself that I will be happy with the veranda we booked, but I'd love to win the bid, too!

  15. I booked directly with Celebrity and then transferred to Chase Ultimate Rewards before final payment to max out my points benefit. The Black Friday offer was after my transfer and Loyalty travel (Chase Ultimate cruise agency) was able to get the OBC offered and a slight drop in rate. I normally don’t use a TA but it saved me $300 in utilizing their agency.

  16. American did the same to us.  There is no way we can get through customs, transfer to the airport, check bags, get through security and on a 7:35 am flight.  They’ve cancelled all flights into our small local airport that day except for one (they usually have 3).  They also waited to cancel flights  until the competing airlines all have exorbitant prices. So disgusted with American.
