Here is the projected current track of Idalia. This has changed multiple times in the last 36 hours.

I also will be following along, as I was booked on this cruise, but canceled it awhile back, as I booked it later on, and the most interesting and affordable excursions had already been booked. (Will book earlier next time!) I was hoping this cruise would have been on the Pride, as I had already sailed on the Legend (as well as the Spirit, and the Miracle). So, you are going on the Legend, right?! Happy cruising!

Yeah, this is what I've read (and heard) too. Thanks!

Help me understand, why there would be a single supplement added, as the offer was in your name, if your DH canceled? The cabin is already paid for. I could see the supplement being added, if the offer was in his name, and he would not be going, and you would have been his guest. Not trying to give wrong information, but just trying to understand.

The offer was in my name, I'm the first guest on the reservation.

This may not be your type of booking, but in my case, at 2 different times, I booked the casino offer, under my name which I paid for for 2 passengers. (Paid for the cabin for 2 people, as well as the taxes/port fees.). 2 times the 2nd passenger wasn't able to go the cruise. I called my PVP and he canceled the 2nd passenger, and refunded the tax/port fees. There would have been, for example, each passenger, receiving the $100 paid fare, as on onboard credit. Since the 2nd passenger was not going, I received $200 onboard credit, as the cabin was paid for, as if I was paying the single supplement. Many of the casino offers have different promotions, so you need to "read the fine print", to make sure, there wouldn't be any restrictions/penalties....In any event, happy cruising!

My doctor said absolutely no. Not even just the extra 10 that I need for my cruise on Aug 21. I talked with CVS and have a shot at filling an old script on the 16th for a lower dosage. I'll pay cash if in fact I can get it. This means all trips over 2 weeks are off the table for me. Of course, it also means I will try a new sleep doctor too. I have read the Florida law and know 30 days is the limit but it seems like a little wiggle within a year would not be too much to ask.

I've struggled with insomnia for years, so I get your frustration. For many years, I was prescribed ativan, which is a controlled substance, I used for sleep, even though, technically, it was a med for anixiety. (Same family as meds like xanax). Often a primary care physician, will not/can not  prescribe these, but a psychiatrist can. Maybe something to look into? Or, could your doctor write you an rx for a higher dose of your sleep med, then you could cut the tablets in half? Then you would have 60 doses and not just 30. Hope it all works out for you, so you can go on your cruise.

  5. Not trying to hijack this thread, but I do have a question re: elite perks, that perhaps someone will know the answer...If I booked a cruise on the Panorama, out of Long Beach, would the airport pick up be at Long Beach, or could it also be at LAX? Thanks.

I hope everyone realizes that beaver tails are not made from beavers, but from flour, butter, sugar, cinnamon.......quite appropriate for vegetarians and animal lovers, and very delicious.

Thanks for pointing that out! I was wondering why just the tail? Not as meaty as other parts of a beaver. My sister lived in a very rural part of PA., and they often ate squirrel pot pie! (and possum🤔)

Hello, my sister and I are booked on her casino offer. The pay 100, get that 100 back. Pay port fees and tips.  There could be a problem for her with the timing of this cruise due to unexpected circumstances.  Will we both have to cancel?  What happens if it's last minute?  What happens with a no show?  Thanks so much.

To the best of my knowledge, your sister would have to cruise under her casino offer. Otherwise, the booking would be null and void. The deposit would be lost, but the taxes/port fees would be refunded. Hope you both get to travel.

"puffy ankle seminars"-do they really have those?!😬😂!!!! What about the hairy chest contests? Not that I would want to participate, but I am not hairy. (I may have one gray chest hair!) If there was such a thing as a chest wig,  would I be able to participate then?!

We just got home from the Splendor…booked with our Carnival PVP, based in FL.

We were not charged tips…none at all.  If you want to tip over & above what’s included in the base fare, you certainly can!

Good day! Just out of curiosity-did your cruise on the Splendor start  and end in Australia? I ask this because the Luminosa will be sailing from Brisbane to Seattle next month-even tho  I booked this from the U.S. with a casino offer, I assume gratuities will be expected/ required? Thanks.

Having worked for 20 years in alcohol and drug rehabilitation, I've seen many totally give up a heroin or booze addiction only to die from smoking cigarettes.  Hardly snarky.

And to think the dangers of crossing a street are equal to smoking, terrible comparision, Continued smoking will destroy one's health or kill you, while crossing the street probably has a fatality rate of 1 in hundred million or so.

Tucson is a small city -maybe 1 million including suburbs. In 2022 we had 49 pedestrian fatalities, including a woman on my street. Often it is people not using the cross walks, dark streets, under the influence? Very sad situations. I am not being snarky, as you haven't been either. Just the facts, man!

Thanks, urbanhawk. unfortunately, the rules are different when departing from Australian ports, and the FAQs are pitched at US residents.   I did read and research as much as I could before asking those questions.

That's good to know, as I am a U.S. resident, and have a cruise booked on Carnival's Luminosa, leaving Brisbane in April for a 22 day T.P.

I'm booked on a Pacific Islands cruise on Carnival Splendor, and would appreciate some help on a few questions about this cruise line:

    1. What can I bring on board in the way of bottles of wine and water?

    2. Does Splendor have Australian power plugs in rooms?

    3. Can someone point me to a link to a wine list for cruises starting from Australia?  Can you buy wine by the bottle and take it back to your room?

    4.  What is the cost of room service?

    5. Is there an extra charge for gratuities?

I know that the onboard charges are in AUD, and I've looked at YouTube to cushion myself against the shock of seeing the pink polka dot decor. Thanks for any help.

If you check out Carnival's website, Carnival.com, Frequently asked questions, you should get most of your questions answered.  Leaving from the U.S., each person is permitted to bring one 750 ml. bottle of wine, on board. Maybe it's different leaving from Oz? Happy cruising!

  13. I had to call Carnival today about my upcoming cruise. The agent I spoke with found my booking and verified that I would be sailing on the Paranormal this Sat. the 21st. I didn't have the heart to tell her it was the Panorama! My friends asked if I would be going to the Mexican Riviera, or maybe it would be going to the Bermuda Triangle?!😁  Happy cruising...to where ever!

I appreciate you responding. I understand what a non refundable deposit means, that’s why I said things can happen. October is 10 months away, not sure if I should wait or book now.

Just wanted to know how others handle it, that’s all.

In Dec. I had to cancel my non-refundable deposit cruise on the Panorama. (It was a casino offer). .I knew the consequences and called Carnival to cancel-the rep transferred me to the casino dept. I explained that I wanted to move the cruise back a month, and not actually cancel..The casino rep/host was able to do a transfer-with penalties. I didn't actually lose any money, as the cruise was less expensive, after the holidays. I guess I lucked out!

The key item here is 'fully paid for'. The cruise line has the money.

Check the cruise contract's "terms and conditions" to see if there are any age restrictions on occupancy - your son may need to meet a minimum age restriction for cabin occupancy.

If your son has travel insurance, and does not want to take the cruise, check the insurance terms and conditions to see if a roommate canceling is a covered condition.

"Fully paid for" may be arbitrary. If it 's  a casino offer, I believe the guest that booked the cabin has to board. If they don't, the casino offer could be void. The others in the cabin could be "re-fared", and pay a higher fare.. I'm not saying this would be the case. The O.P. may consider checking with the Casino Dept.

I just re-read the email again. For the gratuity, the effective date is April 1st. If my sail date is March, then it’s still the current rate even if I don’t prepay it, correct?

I have quite a bit of OBC for our upcoming cruise, and therefore I don’t want to prepay things now.

I believe you are right but am curious, if your March cruise  extended into April, would you pay higher gratuities for part of your cruise? or just the current rate?

The new rates are for U.S., and European departures.  Why not the Australian departures, not that I am complaining?

If you don’t bring a device, you can just show up and the staff at the YTD restaurant will check you in.  Then you’ll wait near the restaurant for your table to be ready.  It’s more streamlined for everyone involved if you use the app, but they do accommodate those who don’t have devices.

Thanks for your helpful reply. I remember  the "old days"-pre apps!, the hostess would give the guest a beeper, during busy dining times, to notify them, when seating would become available.
