Just an FYI, I was just looking at my booking again because I thought I might have to change the time to later but realized with a Non reserved ticket there is not specific time.  This ticket is good for any train on the date booked.  None of the information on the app or in my confirmation show any time.  This is from their website:  image.thumb.png.23e0d90886c265fc5d15e4f340e04ebd.png

You are right. If you selected a random train in "Select Train/Facilities" screen, then If you reserve a non-reserved seat, you can board any train on the boarding date that you made a reservation for. Non-reserved seats cars are 1 - 3 only.  Short haul travel between Osaka/Kobe and Kyoto is OK (30 min), but not pleasant if standing on long haul.

  2. Keep in mind that the layout of the beds differ from cabin to cabin. The website listed above is based on specific ships and cabins and provide more info on the view from the cabins than the bed layout. Try google "crown princess obstructed view cabin photo" and be sure to click on "Images" in the heading. good luck!

  3. For those of you who have been there before, can any of these ports be done on your own? Are there cabs available and is it safe?

    The ports are:

    Ushuaia, Argentina

    Punta Arenas, Chile

    Puerto Montt, Chile

    Puerto Madryn, Argentiana

    Punta del Este, Uruguay

    Montevideo, Uruguay

    Thanks:):):)

All depends on what you want to see. The towns themselves are small and you can get around on your own. Keep in mind that English is not their first language and unless you know Spanish, you may have a problem with communicating with the taxi drivers.

  4. No dark house, you may be in the shade from time to time depending on where the sun is and the direction you are sailing to, but that is the same for all balcony. Enjoy it, you've got nothing to worry about.

  5. RAMSES EXTRAS

Thanks very much, Aussie cruzer! This definitely helps me in my budgeting. Love to do all the extras as you did so I got to start saving now! :D

  6. Our Ramses Tour (for October/November 2011) cost is $360 pp. We are staying at the Mena House (Pyramid view room), and other extras.

Hope this helps you in your budgeting.

    Hi Carol:

Is yours a private tour for 2 persons? I noticed that it's quite a bit more than $220 for 10 persons. Could you tell me about your itinerary and the extras? This would help me in my planning and budgeting.

    Thanks very much,

    Suzie

  7. We were there in 2009. We did not have an armed guard for our group of four (and also did not request one or feel the need for one at that time); just a driver and guide. All tours did depart port at the same time, and traveled to Cairo via armed caravan (a requirement of the government at that time).

    Hi Whalewatcher:

Did you travel back to Alexandria via armed caravan too? If not, were you comfortable without security? Don't know if it's a government requirement anymore but if it's required at one time, I would be more comfortable with security than without. Love to hear more about your drive to and from Cairo. Thanks! :)

  8. Does Blue Nile provide a security guard during the tour regardless of the group size? From the posts here, it seems like they would provide security for big bus group of people and not for the smaller groups. Did anyone in a smaller group have security too? and what is the size of your group? Thanks for sharing!

  9. we were going to pay $220pp for a group of 10 pax including an overnight stay at a 5* by the pyrmaids in late January before it was cancelled 1 day before we were suppose to arrive.

Thank you, dabear! This helps me to know what to budget for and plan for the number of people in the group. Which hotel did you stay in? Thanks again!

  10. No problem, I do this so I can help!! Glad to try and answer as best I can:)

I do not have any HH on Statendam, but have HH 405 on Veendam. Unfortunately this is the only HH I have on any of the S Class ships, Statendam, Maasdam, Ryndam and Veendam.

I will not even hazard a guess as to whether they might be similar to an R Class ship or not. The R Class are Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Volendam and Zaandam You can check out their HH staterooms on Deck 3 of each of their ships (the same as on S Class ships) here http://joanjett2000.topcities.com/HAL/

MS Veendam Oceanview Stateroom, Deck 6. Fully obstructed view. # 405. This was a very nice stateroom. A good size for two people. Bed was comfy. Deck 6 is nice because there's a promenade around the ship with chaise lounges. Bathroom was also roomy. Even had a tub! Photos 2010.

Wish I could be of more help, but....

    Joanie

Thanks very much, Joanie! The picture definitely helps. I will look into the R class cabins too. Many thanks!

  11. Hi Joanne:

Do you have any pictures of HH399 on the Statendam or its sister ship? I assume that the sister ships would have the same setup as the Statendam. It's listed as a fully obstructed oceanview and I'm wondering how obstructed it is. Pictures of the room layout and the bathroom would be great too. Thanks very much in advance.

  12. You can see a photo of this room on the Emerald (sister ship of the Crown) that someone posted on the Cruise Line Rooms site (link).

I like the idea behind this site, unfortunately, it is not frequently updated with more room photos - perhaps not a lot of people know about this site.

Are you sure that this is the right link? I've got an error message that it cannot be found.

  13. we are on the emerald E623...i tried sooo hard to see the numbers of the cabins....is there another place to see a great diagram like this one?

Here's a tip from Barb earlier on how to enlarge it, right click and then "save image" to your computer. Then you can view the image and enlarge it if you want (at least on a pc) and print it. The resolution isn't great, but you should still be able to read the cabin nos.

If that doesn't work, save it to a word document first. Make sure the page layout is in landscrape, right click on the image, copy and paste. Click on View, Zoom and change it to 200% and you should be able to read it. If not, try 250%.

    Hope this helps. :)

  14. Hi, this will be my first Princess Cruise. Is the deck plan for the Sapphire the same as the Crown diagram? If so - looks like I have a big white box for my view. Hopefully I'm wrong - as I saw a post last week from someone who was in E409 who said they had a great view. Anyone have a pic or know how obstructed the Sapphire E 409 view will be?

    Thanks,

    Deb

    Hi Deb:

The deck plan for the Sapphire is different than the Crown, but same as the Diamond. Someone posted here earlier "that E410 (same as E409) is not obstructed. There is a white metal fixture to the right from ceiling to floor very narrow does not affect the view and two spotlights facing towards water which should not interfere with the cabin."

    Here's link to the picture:

    Hope this helps. :)

Thanks, Barb! Your tips work great! Now I can save this for future reference. Have a great weekend!:D
