  1. Has anyone gone on the tour of the Viking Valley?  It apparently is a village/reenactment of life with the Vikings. The company Norway's Best has a shuttle that takes you to the village.  If anyone has done this, could you comment please?  Is it worth it? Is it truly a village that is inhabited or just a reenactment? Any information would be helpful.

    Thank you.

  2. I am with a group of women who will be traveling in May on a Holland America cruise.  One of the Norwegian stops is in Flam.  We would like to see and ride on the Flam Railroad. This tour is sold out from the ship but, you are able to get tickets through the Flam Railroad company.

We have been attempting to purchase tickets through the Flam Railroad site with some difficulty.  The earliest tickets are at 8:25.  However, our ship is supposed to be in port starting at 8:00. We are worried that this is cutting it too close to get off of the ship and onto the train.

Could someone with experience answer the following questions:  1). How far is in from the port to the spot that you board the Flam Railroad? 2). If you have taken the Holland America cruise, do they let everyone off at 8:00 or just those with tickets on HAL shore excursions? ( I have seen this on other cruises) 3) Do you see any problem getting 8:25 tickets to begin the Flam Railroad tour?

    Thank you,

  3. I am looking for someone who can give me information about Oceanview cabins (EE) on Deck 3.  It is my understanding that there is a promenade deck that goes by the window, even though it is considered unobstructed.  Was this distracting? Was there a lot of foot traffic?  Thoughts from someone who has stayed in this type of cabin.

    Thank you

I didn't think this was something you had to book.  But we'll be there in June so I hope someone comes on with recent information.

I found this if you mean Old San Juan.  Old San Juan Trolley, Puerto Rico. Hours, Map, Stops, Tours (sanjuanpuertorico.com)

Thanks!  There is a Hop on Hop Off shore excursion but this looks just as good and it is free!  If most things close last 5:00 it really doesn't matter which one we take.  Might as well go for the free one.

Have seen Embassy Suites offering early check in at a cost of $25 but that was pre Covid..maybe more expensive now..but there is a relaxing pool/ pool deck area. You can also walk to the Harbor Shops outdoor shopping area which has a Publix, Total Wine and the Sun Trolley Stop.

Where is that particular Embassy Suites ? We need some things to do the day before the cruise.

  6. Has anyone done RCCL's The Island's Delight shore excursion?  Specifically, the physical difficulty.  I have read the description but wanted more  information from someone who has actually participated. Thanks.

Drink card is the way to go if offered. They often did it at the midway point of a cruise. It was offered on my last 3 or 4 cruises prior to Covid. $50 for 10 beers and $100 for 10 liquor beverages.

That seems perfect for me. I will check with RC and see if they are still offering it. Sounds like a good Christmas present!

  8. Question:  I received a letter from Celebrity stating that my cruise on the Summit was cancelled. I had that reservation because when the pandemic started, we elected to use their offer of FCC rather than take a loss on our payment.  THEY  cancelled that original cruise on the Equinox completely a few days later and offered people their money back.

They stated in the letter, "If you are not interested in rebooting at this time you will receive 100% refund to your original method of payment, for amounts currently paid on your reservation."

So our original payment on the Equinox was with a credit card. Will they reimburse to the credit card or will we be forced to use the FCC? It seems so unfair to penalize people for sticking with them in times of the pandemic, al though I totally realize it is all about them keeping our money.

    Thoughts?

The taxi would drop you in a parking lot that has direct access to this beach area. It is flat terrain and walk able for most.

There is plenty of beach space. If you do not like to stay in the sun, you can locate your group closer to the trees where there is more shade. The beach is beautiful with the same boulders as the adjacent beach with the slippery staircase. You can see that beach from this area. There are no facilities so just be aware of that. I would go back again as I cannot navigate that steep climb down and up,

So, it is a steep climb to get to the facilities? Is there anywhere near the taxi drop off to get something to eat? Thanks so much for your help.  Just don't want people to get into a situation that they cannot handle physically.

Virgin Gorda is spectacular. It has been on my list every sailing we make to the area.

The usual way to access the beach is through the narrow, slippery stairway you mention. This is typical Virgin Gorda. Do something different but with the same beauty.

There is another beach directly adjacent called Spring Bay Beach. You drive up, walk on flat terrain and access the same beach. Bolders are spaced with room between some and tight spaces in other areas. Obviously avoid those with tight spacing.

Water is incredible! Hope you look into this and try it as it is an unforgettable experience.

How far is the walk to Spring Bay Beach from the taxi drop off point?  Is there ample beach area?  I have a few folks in my group that have some physical limitations, but would love to visit the beach in Tortola.  We have given up the idea of The Caves and this sounds like it might be an option.
