  1. While researching places to stay for our 2014 trip to Alaska I have found several B&Bs/cabins that have extra beds in a loft. That might be something your DS would enjoy - having his own unique space.

  2. Actually it was about 8:30 when we got to Rockefeller Center and we weren't sure they were filming since it was Saturday. Then we heard they would be there until 9:00 so we walked over and got right in with the group. I think there was only one row of people between the newscaster and us. Maybe it's not as busy on Saturday as other days of the week. We were pleasantly surprised.

And don't forget to go to Top of the Rock. We went up around 9:00 and no lines. Nearly had the place to ourselves.

Oh yes, on our walk to St. Patrick's that morning we saw a line of 38 police cars - all with red lights but no sirens and not in a hurry. We were told later that it was some type of drill. Anyone with more info? It was quite a sight.

  3. We arrived NY around 11:00 Sept. 7th and were out of the airport in about 15 minutes. Used car service to get 4 of us to Hotel Saint James in Times Square. Super location! This is not a fancy hotel but if you want a clean place to sleep and shower, this is the place. $165/night for a queen room that is a couple blocks or less from Times Square. Booked the 3:00 tour (5 1/2 hours) with New York Party Shuttle Tours. They are great. We saw so much in a short period of time. My only disappointment was in Ground Zero. It was getting dark when we got there so we couldn't see much. We also didn't get to go to the memorial area near there. But this was definitely the best way to see NY in a few hours.

The next day we walked to St. Patrick's Cathedral and Rockefeller Center. Went to Top of the Rock. No wait and what a view!!! We were also on the NBC Early Show!! Wish we could have seen a Broadway play.
