  1. Never been to Bermuda. Coming in on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018. Looking to get 1 day transport pass and take Ferry to Hamilton and walk around see some sights, take Bus Route 7 and get off at Warwick Long Bay to see beach. May walk to Horseshoe Bay and get bus there. If we get the bus will the drop us anywhere? or only at designated spots? I would like to get off and walk up to Gibbs Lighthouse to see it. Is it a far walk from the bus stop? Then would come back and take bus back to Dockyard and spend time looking around. Live in Florida so don't need a lot of beach time.

    Thank everyone for your advice.

  2. Thanks for this review. We are in 8472 Aft Balcony Havana on 9/13/18. We are taking the train to NYC from Hudson, NY that morning. This is a four day Bermuda but seems like fun and never been. Glad that Havana is like a little oasis of quiet with so many people on the ship. A little concerned with noise from the music as it is open until midnight in Havana but that is what ear plugs are for if necessary.

  3. Finally after three tries at it we got a certificate two weeks after the burial at sea. I have requested they mail it to me as the borders on the certificate will not print correctly. I do not think that if we print it this way and send to family that it will be a good reflection of the cruiseline. At least the dining room servers and room steward were excellent so that outweighed some of the incompetence of the guest services desk.

  4. Still waiting on a correct certificate. It is frustrating and had to deal with during the holidays.

They e-mailed one with no signatures and the day and date were incorrect. I.e, it said Wednesday, December 5, 2015. Well that is not something I want to send to family and I don't think that is what RCI wants to put out their either. Hopefully we will get something shortly.

I am glad others had a much better experience, even with two days notice.

With us they were put on notice when I booked and then e-mailed them and they supposed sent a confirmation to me and the ship, I did not get the confirmation so I called back to make sure everything was okay and got the confirmation.

  5. Just did the Independence of the Seas on 11/30 for the first time on RCL. Having cruise Carnival and Disney previously. Was impressed with the service both in the cabin, dining room and windjammer. I thought the entertainment was sparse. We had MTD at 5:30 p.m. each night and not a lot to do after dinner until about 10:00 p.m.

My problem with RCL is their lack of customer service at headquarters and at the guest relations desk. We did a burial at sea, got approval prior to booking, took my letter and documentation to guest services on the first day and they did not have a clue. I had to go to guest services almost every day to get it done on our second Sea day. It was nice quiet area where you can say a few words and but the biodegradable urn in the ocean. However, a week later I am still waiting on the certificate that is to come with this service. I know the service is free but when you promise something I expect delivery on that promise. I went to guest service later the night, not available; when on debarkation morning and was told "not printed yet we will e-mail it to you". No I am sorry, no sensitivity to the matter at hand that this was an emotional trip to begin with.

I have called RCL twice, sent an e-mail and still I wait. How hard is it to print a certificate with a name and the coordinates (I know the guest services person was on the phone with the bridge to get them).

Don't offer the service if you cannot provide it efficiently and with sensitivity.

  6. I just did a Burial at Sea on the Independence of the Seas on the 11/30 sailing. Although I got permission and brought everything they asked for, it was like pulling teeth for them to follow through. It was finally done on the second sea day but I am still, almost a week later attempting to get the certificate that was promised.

The guest services people on the Independence need to be trained better in handling these type of situations. On the morning of debarkation I was told they had not printed the certificate and they would just e-mail it to me. No apology, etc.

This was our first Royal cruse and probably the last, the customer service line sucks and today was on hold and passed around four times, having to repeat my request, etc.

Don't offer the service if you cannot provide so with dignity and respect.

I called to confirm that this service was available prior to booking and was the only reason I booked this cruise.

I have cruised 13 times previously on Carnival and Disney, so not new to sailing.

  7. Updated spreadsheet for the four of us, if anyone wants to add what they are doing, let me know either here or on FB. It may take a day or so to update if there are a lot but will get it done. Sometimes make the change but don't post that it is made.

Can't wait for this cruise, may have to do a short one between now and then depending on time and price.
