  1. Well we were blindsided - after waiting for 2 years with multiple cancellations due to covid we were finally sailing!  What could go wrong???  Then our TA called with the news. So sad and frustrating, and truthfully part of me didn't really believe that we were finally going to be traveling again.  We are platinum + and we will not abandon NCL (trying to reach that free cruise).  So I immediately booked December 5th - forever Charlie Brown still believing that Lucy will not remove the ball.... so sad....

  2. Searching for any new Colombia updates I saw this email and felt I had to respond even though the first poster was in 2020.  We toured with a Dora guide several years ago and she was the first excursion I booked for our return to Colombia.  With all the cruises canceled and now coming back, I think some of the desperation of the people may ease - we are all trying to catch up after the shutdown losses.  It is not the guide's job to control those asking for money or trying to sell something. Being polite to those only trying to make a living goes a long way.  We have traveled all over the world and panhandling has been good or bad - but giving a smile and nodding your head doesn't cost you anything. We travel in January and I will return with a new update on "Dora the Explorer" and our experience.

  3. Sorry , that's not what I meant to imply , but of the two cruises we have taken on Celebrity the ship, food, and staff were not noticeably different from regular , "mass market " lines. Again , we enjoyed our celebrity cruises very much and will continue to cruise with them when the itinerary suits us, but we will go with the expectation that the entertainment will be limited. And that may change with passenger feedback.

  4. I forgot about those weird headphone discos. Sorry but it looked ridiculous to me. The point of music and dancing is to be at a party, not to have my own party in my own little world. I haven't danced around in headphones since I was 13 because my Dad didn't like that "rock music"😁 I don't think I could drink enough to find it fun at all. As for casual chic, all the lines are moving from formal nights and with airline restrictions that is a good thing. Upscale ? Everyone seemed like regular people to me, just a nice, friendly group of passengers. Celebrity is a very nice line, but outstanding entertainment is on RCL or NCL

  5. For entertainment stick to Rcl or NCL. We enjoy cruising Celebrity, but entertainment can be iffy at best. We are not foodies but our last cruise on the Constellation food was disappointing. We have another cruise planned with Celebrity, but itinerary was the draw, not the ship. In our 50s but still like to have fun in the evenings. Hope this helps.

  6. Thanks for your input. We have insurance, but I don't believe it includes the excursions. As for the weather, we were in Edinburgh in September 2015 and it was overcast and cool and we had a wonderful day , so I am not worried about the weather. But we did miss a tender stop in southern England so you never know what the captain will do.

  7. Our first trip we used a taxi to get to the castle and we were among the first to tour the castle. Then we visited several churches, visited a museum and shopped down the royal mile before taking a taxi back to the ship. So we saw an awful lot. My mother is very insistent that we take a tour into the countryside. But as we are tendering into New Haven this time I wanted to find an excursion that will pick us up at the pier. Has anyone used a touring company that will pick up at New Haven?

  8. The vouchers will be in your cabin. When you make your reservation on the ship just let them know you have your voucher (you don't need to show it to the person making the reservation). When you go down to dinner take one of the vouchers with you. Give it to the wait staff when you are seated and they will give you a special wine list. The dinner menu will be the same.

This last cruise on the Pearl we had the option of La Bistro or the Italian restaurant - we ate at both, but you can eat at Le Bistro both times.
