  1. I do not bother signing up for a credit card unless there is at least $400-500 in value. Alot of the travel CC's (airline/hotel, etc) offer that much signup bonus (in value or even more) but those may require some moderate min spend to get there. Of course, one has to be able to know what works best for the particular applicant(s).

For $100 worth of value the NCL card offers for the signup bonus, it is not worth it for me. I just signed up for two American Airlines CC's (50,000 bonus each card) and another one (US Bank's Olympic promo 33K pts that ended on 8/31/12 worth $400-$600 to me).

If one charges alot of NCL cruises on this card and do not want to mess without having keeping track of various CC's, this card may be for you.

For me, there are better cards that I have in my wallet.

Bottom line: This card works for most NCL cruisers but not for me.

  2. We were thinking of getting the NCL card. No go. Even one of my no annual fee credit union Visas gets 1.25% cash back on everything plus 2% on groceries & 5% on fuel. (pays out every month!) Why should I go with the World Points card when we have other cards that are better?

  3. We won the following Priceline bids:

Oct 11 Country Inn & Suites 2.5* $65. Elizabeth, NJ (Newark airport)

Oct 18 LaQuinta Inn & Suites 2.5*. $87, Secaucus, NJ (near NYC)

Oct 19 Hyatt Regency Long Island 3*. $45. side trip to see Hamptons.

Cruise is Oct 12 to 18 from Manhattan. Flying Los Angeles-Newark & JFK-Los Angeles. We're using free United tickets obtained by giving up our seats last Christmas. :) Tried to bid Manhattan but 4* was over $200 and nothing. Plan to use Schwartz Travel to keep one large checked bag for 1 day post cruise. Am renting a car for 1 day from Manhattan to JFK (via Hamptons :) ) for under $30 including taxes.

Since October weekends are "prime" time in NYC, I am pleased with my bids. 4* Manhattan were starting over $400/night. Even NYC LaQunita was over $300/night.
