  1. Yes.. We took UBER from the port to LAX. Just opened the UBER APP and requested a car after our bags and were outside. They will pick you up just outside the luggage hall on the curb. Just watch for their license tag or type and color of car. Our trip was around $17 and so cheap, so we gave the nice driver a tip equal to the fare. You can call them to make sure they know which terminal you are waiting at...that's what I did.

  5. So if we want to order some, do we do it now and hope for the best or wait until it's resolved? I'm not going to buy any if I'm not going to get the additional 10%.

Best advice would be to call the gift card #866-270-1064 and ask the agent. Be sure to get the agent's NAME and AGENT SINE. The agent will know what you're asking and either be accountable to you or not. I rest my case..:)

  6. The eSolutions desk @ Carnival has a case open on issuing the 10% bonus cards. They have made the 10% bonus promotion a "priority" and are working to get those e-mails out.

If you have problems call them @ 800-845-2599 and quote the "thru June 16" rule. The Father's Day promotion is good until midnight, June 16, 2014 EASTERN STANDARD TIME. This per Crystal on the Promotions Desk @ Carnival..

Since the agent @ 866-270-1064 by the name of Casey, agent sine - 2546 told me the Father's Day promotion was good today, I purchased a $1,000 Gift Card on your website carnivalgiftcards.com just this morning. I hope the information she gave me is correct since there is a long thread on Cruise Critic about the Carnival promotional card and questions as to the EXACT expiration of the promotion! Carnival cruisers are concerned the promotion has expired (me included) and my $1,000 gift card just might not include the 10% promotional gift card.

    Please advise..

    Cheers,

"Texana" (I did use my actual name):D

  8. Was the Father Day/10% ad still on there?
It said: "Send some Dad's way and get some back yourself"..

The Father's Day 10% promotion wasn't on the page, but the Father's Day header was still showing.

They really need to put an exact expiration date with an exact expiration time otherwise there will always be confusion.

I did get the e-card e-mail and understand the 10% promotion e-mail comes later - maybe within 24 hours, so I'll hang in there until then. I did take a screen shot of the first page advertising the "Father's Day" special..

  9. I thought it was good through today too--we ordered ours last night just to be sure. Maybe they took the promotion off the website, but it's still in effect? You could try the 800# to make sure. (1-866-270-1064)

I just called the number you posted and got "Casey" (supervisor) and she said the promotion was still in effect for today. I asked for her 'agent sine' and she gave me 2546, so if anything goes wrong -- I know who gave me the info.

  10. Thanks so much for your review! We are on the Viking Emerald - China - this year and I've had a wonderful TA with Viking. I'd be happy to pass his name along to you, but don't know if it's proper in this venue..? He has absolutely gone beyond the call of duty and answers my e-mails within hours.

The Mekong is on our agenda for November 2012 or 2013. Vietnam vet here - Navy just up IH35 from you!

    Cheers!

  11. I wish there were a River Cruiseline rating. I did research different lines here and was happy with my choice, but it would have helped to have an objective ratings with input from a wide range of people.

Wouldn't that be nice! We're off on our first river cruise this year and planning for a couple more next year. The research takes loads of time, but I've been looking around. Priorities are: itinerary, size of stateroom w/balcony, age of boat, tours included, internet availability, bicycles available and lastly, the dining options and food. We're looking at a 'tulips/windmills' and the 'Bucharest to Budapest' for next year with hopefully a 'Christmas Markets' thrown in too. Anyone with hints is most welcome to post..!:D

  12. It's common in the travel industry for agencies to have "group" contracts with different suppliers. This would be the case when you get a better price or deal booking with an agent vs the supplier. You buy into the group, but actually never know who else has done the same. It's a win/win situation for both the traveler and the agency.

We are off on our first rivercruise this year and I picked Viking for the Yangtze - Shanghai, Xian to Beijing nights included. Seems rather slim pickins for the river itinerary, so Viking it is. We're looking at AMA for a Tulips/Windmills trip next late March or April. Can't believe how quickly the cabins sell out..!!

Thanks to all on this thread for your good tips/advice/concern....especially the South Texas gal..:D

  13. Tex,

I called Priceline again today since I still hadn't gotten a response to the resort fee %. They have it in my record now that they are going to refund 3% to my cc after I fax them the hotel bill after our stay. They said their system wasn't updated with the correct %...I imagine now it is

Uh huh......so priceline wants you to prove that you stayed in their non-refundable hotel before they will refund any overcharge. Strange way to do business -- talk about nickel and dimeing a client.. Since you did their homework for them, good customer service should have refunded your entire stay as a gesture of thanks..!:D

And a big thanks to the folks who posted about American Airlines reducing their schedules. I checked my PRN and find where they changed my flights -- to the better..!!:D

  14. I just returned from the Marriotte Stellaris and Resort. I did not have to pay any additional resort fees (on the website I thought it mentioned a resort fee) to those I had paid on priceline.

Thanks for that information cruisintwinsmom. Can I ask if your Priceline.com confirmation page mentioned any "resort fees" which would be payable directly to the hotel? Hopefully the San Juan Resort has the same policy as the Marriott does -- meaning no resort fee.

  15. Lady,

My Priceline confirmation also says 11%, but if you go to the hotel website and book a room the "resort fee" prices out at 14%. I know, not a lot of difference - but I like to know all charges up front no matter how trivial.....anal, I know..:o

Wish I could remember if the 11% was quoted on the priceline betting page before I placed my bid as it may have made a difference as to whether I placed a "resort" bid or one for a "four star" hotel. We won't arrive until almost midnight and on the ship the next noon. I did read on another thread where you could 'request' the resort fee be dropped if you aren't using those amenities -- think I'll just do that, but goodluck to me trying to get that one done at the desk...!

  16. Tex

I'd be interested to know what you find out. We're staying there in Aug also thru priceline.

    Hi G-E Lady,

I called the El San Juan (American res #) and the gal told me that the 14% resort fee is based upon what I paid Priceline.com.......so $135 x 14% = $18.90. She said that upon check-in the desk clerk would have a printout of what we paid Priceline and charged the resort fee based on that. She also said that if we had any special requests (room location/bedding, etc.) to call the El San Juan @ 787-791-1000 and ask for "Rooms Control" to put in the request.

Don't take any of this info to the bank.......arg...from what I've read about the hotel and the service. Thought I'd pass along the info anyway..! You'll have to let us know after your August visit how it all went.

  17. I just got the EL San Juan Hotel on Nov 1st for $135. I'm a bit worried after reading some reviews of the hotel. Does anyone have any experience with the El San Juan? We're just staying there one night, pre cruise.

    Thanks for any info!

I just yesterday, May 11th, got the El San Juan Hotel for Nov 8th (pre-cruise) - 1 night for $135 plus tax/fees for a total of $164.38. According to priceline info there is a local resort fee payable upon checkout and from what I can tell on El San Juan's website, the fee is 14%. I e-mailed priceline to inquire as to whether the 14% resort fee is based upon my winning bid of $135 or the rack rate at the hotel -- they promptly referred me to the hotel for that question...arg.
