In June of 1995, my family cruised out of New Orleans on the Enchanted Isle. We were originally scheduled to sail on the Enchanted Seas but 2 or 3 weeks prior to the sailing date, the Enchanted Seas was damaged by a fire. Commodore brought the Isle to New Orleans and as we were sailing down the Mississippi, the Enchanted Seas could be seen down river as it was getting ready to go into drydock.
This cruise was a memorable one for several reasons. We sailed with our two children(one -7 and the other 17 months old), my parents on their first and only cruise and an aunt. My 17 month old was obviously the youngest on board and by the end the most spoiled one as well. We would go to dinner and the maitre d or a server would materialize next to her high chair and hold out their arms..off she would go..making the rounds of the dining room. My son had a great time as well with the Commodore Kids' Club. It was his first night of dancing in a disco that he remembers as well as the movies that they would watch at night.

My husband and I cruised on the Carla Costa in the early 90's. We were part of a 50th anniversary cruise group . I was fascinated by all the beautiful wood and art deco interiors. The outside cabin we had wasn't as large as some I had cruised in but I loved every minute of the cruise.

That brings back memories. I couldn't dry my hair or use my electric rollers in the cabin. There was a room designated for that purpose and though, I groused about it at first. I looked forward to going down to the mirrored room each day and talking with all the ladies that I met on the cruise. We discussed our children, clothes, shore excursions, favorite wines and the hunkiest crew members. Our husbands, boyfriends, significant others never knew why we would come back to our cabins giggling. My husband accused me of making a stop by the bar!!

The Amerikanis was the first ship that I cruised on..back in 1983. Loved it so much that I cruised it again in 1984. I was a chaperone (I was in mid 20's at the time) for 2 high school Senior cruises. She was a grand old ship and I had a grand time.
