The UBD is a better deal and far more intimate and special.
This will be our first Princess cruise. What is UBD?
Thanks,

Am reading with great interest as friends and I are doing this same cruise on the Island in December. Thanks for all the great recommendations and what to stay away from.

Hi there Patti!!! Long time no see. Hope all is well with you. Barb, Sharon and I have our eye on early spring 2016 for the Panama Canal. The only time we can cruise, other than holidays, is when Barb can take a sabbatical. There may be a fourth girlfriend and I'm looking at a family suite. Know anything about those?

A friend who is currently onboard says that Radiance has experienced some propulsion problems and is currently sitting idle about half way between Hilo and Vancouver.
I can think of worse places to be stalled. Nothing to run into anywhere near by, pretty good weather and the most beautiful ship on the seas! However, I do hope they can get it all fixed.

I am an RCI newbee but have sailed solo before on DCL. Will the table assignments for Tradional dining be all solos? I have a fear of showing up and being the only person at a table.
I don't think RCI does "solo" tables in the dining room. When I sail solo, I always put down that I want to be seated at bigger tables. I've never shown up to be the only diner at the table. I do remember one time that the whole table (including me) went to one of the specialty dining venues so that the whole table was empty. We did let the waiters know ahead of time though. I like set time dining because I like to get to know my table mates. I've also been included in port excursions by table mates. Just my opinion. :-)

I've sailed solo 4-5 times on RCI. One was a 15 night cruise. I didn't attend the singles event either. I'm not a single...I'm a solo. I'm not looking for a man...been there, done that. I loved the trivia sessions. I met a lot of nifty people during trivia. My best recommendation is to become very active in your cruise's specific Cruise Critic board. There I met people, arranged to go on excursions and made plans to do things with my cruise mates. Then attend your Meet & Greet. I had a ball! I would cruise solo all the time if I could only afford it. I also pick to sit at the biggest of tables in the dining room. If you have any solo questions, please feel free to ask them.

Thank you to the original poster, HolstonRiverVOL, for posting this information. I had no idea that this would be possible. My mother was an avid traveler and loved the sea. I will be burying her at sea when I sail this next January. Without you, I never would have known. Thank you again so very much.

Hi - I'm the one (Jen's friend) who had the problem in Acapulco with Rudy's driver. Everything Jen has said is true. I contacted Rudy early on and he said there were enough for the tour to be $40 each. Seemed reasonable for a full day. He said he was booked and would send us a great tour guide. I was surprised when the guide told us it was just us three ladies for the tour. Our trip was great and we enjoyed the day. I was also surprised at the cliff divers when he told we would have to buy our own tickets as I thought the price was included. It was very hectic with people pushing, shoving, yelling, etc. and I didn't want to stand there and argue with him. The tickets did, however, entitle us to two drinks. We did buy our guide's lunch later, as we thought this would be a nice gesture. When we got back to the ship, the guide told us the price was $50 each. He told us this while we were double parked in the busy street with horns honking at us. He mumbled something about taking an hour longer and there only being three of us. I really couldn't hear him too well above the honking. We just shoved money at him an ran. While the tour itself was very good, it was not worth $65 when others were paying $30 and $35 for the same experiences. I will definitely be smarter next time. This is my experience only and may not be the experience of anyone else or any one in the future. Merely stating the facts as they happened.

Our balcony cannot be used during the transit too. Evidently they run a cable/rope? down through that area. We have been give $60 OBC each. This is the price of the Sanctuary for the day. So you could use it for the Sanctuary.....or not.
