  1. We did the 8-day partial transit on the Miracle out of Tampa in April. It was awesome. We went through the Atlantic side if the locks and into Gatun lake where we sat for a while and then went back through the same locks. They had a narrator onboard to describe what we were seeing. It was a fantastic cruise.

There was a mostly older crowd onboard (including us). We enjoyed the cruise a lot. We had an aft cabin so we were on a deck up top while going through the first time and sat on our balcony when going through the second time. This cruise took us through the canal early in the morning so get up on deck like at 6 am if you want a good viewing spot at the front of the ship.

  2. I have gotten FTTF since they started selling this. I get it because I am in a wheelchair and it's easier to be able to drop off the carryons in the cabin before all the luggage gets in the hallway. But it has now gone up way too high to be affordable for us.

I never wanted to be in with the Diamond and Platinum cruisers until I get to that level. They earned and paid for that level of service. Like I said, I only get it because of being in a wheelchair and it being easier to get to my cabin and drop things off before the hallway becomes impassable for me when the luggage gets there.

  3. If you get there early, it shouldn't be too long of a wait. When you go the first night, tell them you need the same setup for the rest of the cruise and give them a time you will be there (and stick to it). They may keep the table setup for you and decrease the wait for the rest of the cruise. If at any night you can't make it on time, be sure and let them know.

  4. We're doing the same itinerary on the Miracle this year. We chose an aft extended balcony. We plan to be on the balcony for part of the transit, probably coming out of the canal. We plan on being up on deck for the way into the canal.

One thing to think of is when booking with 3 people, if you book a cabin for 4, if they need the cabin for 4 people, you can be bumped to a different cabin. It would be better to book a cabin for 3 and not worry about that. With that said, when my daughter used to cruise with us, we have booked a cabin for 4 and never been bumped. It was just a warning our PVP gave us.

  5. I totally agree! My husband carries his diabetic meds in his carry on and it would be horrible if he accidentally left it somewhere and didn't get it back quickly or at all. I even put a Carnival luggage on my camera case.

We always put luggage tags on our carry on. I too put one on my camera bag. You never know what may happen. Better safe than sorry.

I take a picture of my name and address in case my camera is lost. We put a copy of our name and address in our suitcases. Yeah maybe a little too much, but it works for us.

  6. How do you apply GC to your S&S account online? I’ve used GC online to make payment on my cruise, for excursions and to purchase beverage packages, but haven’t seen an option to just apply them to the S&S account.

I would like to know that too. We buy gift cards a little at a time to have for our next cruise. We always apply them to S&S at Guest Services on the ship.

  7. Does Carnival have any kind of special line or priority for people in a wheelchair?

You go with the zone you are assigned like everyone else, except you will go at the head of that group. I'm in a wheelchair also, and that is the way we have boarded our last few cruises.

  8. I use a wheelchair and walker (my own) on the ship. Sometimes there is a special waiting area in the general boarding area (depending on the port), but never in priority boarding. They take special needs guests with their assigned boarding zone but at the front of that group. Your cabin is not ready for you unless you book FTTF. Be sure you register with special needs and go to guest services after you board to ask where special needs muster drill is held. He will be more comfortable there, and they will take his information in the event there is an emergency.

  9. I use a rollator. Go to guest services as soon as you board to ask where special needs muster is. You will go with her. The rollator will work great for standing in line on the ship, walking the length of the ship, etc. makes a great place to put her tray in the buffet too. You can pick up one at Walgreens.

  10. One might run to an attorney for discovery, not necessarily for a cash settlement.

This family suffered a horrible loss. They deserve to know what happened. In a perfect world there would be no accidents but we don't live in a perfect world.

This well could have been an accident. Wouldn't you want to know?

Surveillance tapes and eye witness testimony could answer the basic question. How would you get access to either without the help of the legal process?

This is very true. Sometimes, unless you have the help of an attorney, it's hard to get truthful and complete information on what happened. I speak from experience. My only child, my 25 yo daughter, died and I hired an attorney to get information on what happened because I got nowhere on my own. Hiring an attorney right away also helps protect any evidence or videos or any information there is from being "lost." Better to be protected even if suing is not your intention. When you've lost a child, you're not thinking clearly and the attorney can help. I feel for the girl's family. They are just starting a very painful journey.

  11. I have a motorized wheelchair that is 21" wide and we have no problem getting it through the door. There's no extra room to spare, so I suggest taking the arms off your scooter or if you can push it through the door that would be better. I always get a regular cabin and I too can walk around the cabin. Just can't go long distances. There is me and my husband that go and we bring the wheelchair and a walker and have plenty of room in the cabin for both. When charging, it is a little tight in the cabin but I sometimes will charge it at night. You'll probably need to do that every day.
