  1. Thanks for the tips! We are going to Key West in 2 different sailings this summer and I will definitely try these on day 1. We are planning on parasailing, so we can do that the following week on our second leg of the b2b.

  2. Had taken the Amtrak a couple of time going home from Sanford Fl to Lorton, VA . This would be the Auto Train which is a straight ride. We usually drive to Fl, then twke tha auto train back home. Dinner and breakfast is served and there is a snack bar available. They also show a movie on board.

  3. I wish they were open all the time, with no lunch/afternoon pickups. My son enjoys the camp and so did my DD. Shes in club O2 now. Never had any issues with the counselors. Always nice and very professional. My kids were always happy to be there and even begs to stay with the group for dinner in the Lido.

  4. I've heard about a lot of these stories... But, I've always wondered, what happens when those who get left behind have their young kids in the kid's club???

Indeed! I did this in one of my Costa Maya visit. I left my DS who was 5 at the time. We hired a cab to visit the pyramid at Chachoben (sp). I realized it was really gutsy for us to take that trip because it was FAR from the pier. I was worried that we can get stuck in the middle of nowhere if our car broke down. We were very lucky that all went well, and we were able to get back on the ship with plenty of time to do a beach massage....DS had a ball while in camp so I didnt feel so guilty anymore :) I think lots of people take risks, unfortunately, we cant predict everything. I guess it is worth paying the excursiin through carnival if you plan on taking an excursion that is far away.

  5. Lots of fantastic ideas - I'm not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but I take a special ribbon with big and bold colors to tie on my stateroom mailbox to help identify our room. Even our kids find it easy to spot our door (or if you'd had too much to drink)

We brought our netbook on our last trip as well, so we can dump all pics from our memory cards. We went to Starbucks in Nassau to access internet, and guess what - tons of cruiseship staff hang around wifi hotspots making internet phone calls.

For those who are techie, and you have the iphone (i'm sure this would work with other smartphones) take the sim card out as soon as you sail away (you don't want roaming charge surprises), and when at ports, you may use your iphone to call the US or Canada using a wifi connection and a VOIP program like iCall (you can download this through the appstore) I was able to do this while at Paradise Beach Cozumel, and some of my new friends were very happy to save 6.99 per minute as well as I let them use my phone. It was fantastic. I used this while in the Bahamas as well (Starbucks)
