  1. I was thinking the same thing!  Although we typically books Suites anyway, but I was thinking since they are a new cruise line that I would go a little cheaper to check it out.  But I definitely do NOT want to stay in a room that equates to a college dorm room - not for the prices they are charging.... I would expect that on Carnival.

I was really curious and excited to see what they could bring to the table but I really am unimpressed with most of the renderings. Celebrity edge is breathtaking and so have paid more to go on it.

My concern is for the customers, but more for the staff when dealing with non-buffet/custom order scenario. Embarkation/disembarkation/excursion/lectures are busy enough when there's a buffet and that's instant serve. Trying to take individual orders when customers are shirty enough is gonna be horrendous for the staff! X

Well, I think as far as quickness of food - it seems like there are some venues that are "sort of" self serve, like the Bread type place.  So they won't just throw food out on a buffet, but have manned stations to serve ready to eat food.  But like I said, it will be interesting to see how this plays out! :)

  3. Alot of people seem unimpressed with the renderings so far - I like them.  And so far, the first two details they've released that I love are NO KIDS (yay!) and no buffets or main dining rooms (and no upcharge for food).  My only question is wondering how they will handle dining for 2700+ -  will there be any reservations?  Will it be for some of the eating venues, but not for others?  Will be interesting to see how this plays out.  Can't wait to see deck plans, room plans, and what the price point will be!

  4. There are coupons for every C&A level, and they are all loaded on the SeaPass card now.

Internet is 15% off a package purchased onboard.

So when it says "Buy one beer, wine, soda - get one free" - that is just a one time thing. It isn't going to happen every time I purchase, right? So every time my husband buys a beer, I don't get one free :):)

  5. No tax on the daily service charge.

There´s VAT on all goods and services onboard meaning drinks, food, specialty restaurant charges, internet packages, spa services, shore tours...

No, VAT is charged online too. No way to avoid it.

As for anything purchased on land the VAT is already included in the price tag. Same for independent tour operators. So you can´t avoid the VAT but you don´t "see" it as it´s already included in the shown price. That´s the law in Europe.

To clarify, as this is confusing to us Americans - when I go to purchase the drink package online, it is NOT adding the VAT tax, only the Service Charge (of a random 16.36%, not 18%??). So when do they charge the VAT for online purchases?;p

  6. Can you please tell me how much we should tip the concierge?

I understand your question, I struggle with this also --- Is it $10, $20? As you stated, you don't want to insult the person. I probably overtip b/c of this.... I know this is a VERY subjective matter. And can get MANY different responses.... I wish there was a more simple answer! Like the 20% when dining (yes, I know they don't do this much outside the US - but that is where I am from).

  7. Those were my notes from research. Basically, some churches and museums, etc have strict dress codes. Some do not enforce it while others do. I wrote that to remind me what the clothing options I had for that day were based on where we were going. The no flip flops rule is for Monaco I believe, to go into the casino, they don't allow flip flops.

That is very important information for us American Girls that love our flip flops!! :)

  8. Wrong! Not everyone has had a problem. I have been accessing their website for several years and NEVER had a problem.

I was thinking the same thing! I don't think I've ever had a problem? If I did, I just closed and went back later. Not to mention, I clear my search history all the time.

  9. God, I must be a terrible cruiser. I am aboard ship to enjoy my vacation not to count the rust spots. Unless something really jumps out at me I really don't notice.

I second that..... as one poster stated, apparently the Sky cruise ship they keep mentioning just came out of dry dock. EOS is due hers later this year. When a ship is that old, I'm sure even after a dry dock, she probably rusts a lot faster than a newer ship. Guess if it was "disgusting" to you, sail elsewhere....
