  1.  Beware that while Global Airport Parking advertises a parking rate of around $10/day near the Port of Miami, that's really not the case. It's more like $13/day. They charge calendar days. Parking for a 7-day cruise (with a charge for 8 days) plus taxes and fees comes to about $90.  It's as if you booked a hotel for one night and were charged for 2, the day in and the day out. Cancellation is available but not free. There is a $5 charge.

  2. I have been very patient with MSC trying to correct errors on my booking. It took 4 calls (one time on hold for 1:20)to correct my husbands date of birth. When they sent me the new confirmation' date=' he was booked in a cabin with a different woman:eek:! I found this humorous and called again to correct it. New confirmation showed all was well:rolleyes: Then yesterday when I signed on to MSC I was shocked to learn that I was 30 years younger than my husband and gave birth at the ripe old age of 4 ! (Must say, DH was thrilled to have such a young wife!!) All joking aside, this is what has really made me nervous: Not only was my year of birth wrong, but all my personal information such as address, email address AND Passport number were filled in (and now I was living in Italy with an Italian passport!) I am now very nervous about putting my real information in, as I don't want to compromise my passport. I'm sure this is some kind of security breach and I'm not sure the great price for my aft cabin is worth it. So I just got off the phone with MSC who entered the correct info, but the other passport number is still listed as mine!

Does anyone know how to reach a supervisor with MSC?[/quote']

Incorrect charge applied to my Amex credit card, and have been trying for nearly two weeks to get it corrected. Four calls and still nothing. Was on Divina in May and going again in July. Can assure you, there will be no others on MSC. Too many competitors in this space to put up with this nonsense. Arrivederci. MSC!

  3. So I can tell you this MSC uses a French bank. Initially in the states your credit will have a hold of $150 and there most likely not be a problem at that point, then of course periodically as you spend that they put more on hold at the end of the cruise it's processed thru the French bank (anything over that $150)

I was happy I saw this information on this forum. As soon as I read the craziness that goes on for Americans at the end of the cruise as far as charges being denied I alerted my bank and credit cards I was going to use about the foreign banks and have never had an issue. I was never charged an international fee either.

I pre-paid gratuities. I went thru a travel and he added them into our cost.

Was told by MSC today that credit card charges are processed by a foreign bank and if your credit card company charges a foreign service fee it will appear on your credit card statement.

  4. Bahamas recently imposed a 7.5% VAT which is paid at the point of sale in addition to the posted price. If you present a valid government-issued photo ID you won't be subject to the levy. Otherwise do your shopping before or after you reach the Bahamas, which already collects import duty on everything entering the country. St. Thomas and St. Maarten often are more competitive if allowed by the manufacturer. I was in Nassau just last week.

  5. We were on the Getaway in November and the Patriots played on the Sunday night Football game that was televised. It was shown in O'Sheehans and on the TV in the cabin. Interesting fact we found out - Captain Tommy of the Getaway is a huge Patriots fan! We had a couple of conversations with him during the cruise about the game/team!!

The only Captain Tommy I care about is the one with No. 12 on his back. Can't someone from NCL tell us if the game will be carried onboard the Getaway Jan. 10?
