We are stopping in Corner Brook on a cruise at the end of July.  We have been before, but arranged a private tour (no longer in business) to Gros Morne and had a great day. Do the cruise ships (HAL specifically) offer a shuttle into town?  If so, we plan to just take the shuttle and walk the Corner Brook Stream Trail on our own and explore the city a bit.  How far is it from the ship to "downtown"?

While on NCL Joy we made an unexpected stop at Corner Brook in Sept 2022 when we missed Prince Edward Island due to weather.  There was a shuttle but we walked into town.  An easy walk.  This website may help you plan.

  2. We have two Carnival cruises booked for this month and are wondering if there might be Happy Hour Specials.

In the past we have experienced an embarkation day Happy Hour at the Red Frog Pub around 2 pm.

    Are they still doing this?

  3. We were on the Conquest in Jan/Feb and were introduced to the new breakfast menu. LOVE it! Some of the offerings sounded a little "out of the box" but everything we tried was delicious. Also the OJ was an upgrade from what was being served in the buffet. We don't usually eat breakfast in the dining room on Port days, but this new menu had as reevaluating our plans for the day. Why not start off with a gourmet breakfast!

  4. In Cozumel we like to walk towards town (turn left when you exit the terminal area) and there are little restaurant/bars along the beach that allow you to use their chairs and beach as long a you buy a drink. Usually they have some kind of special going for beer and/or Margaritas.

  5. We sailed on Divina on Jan 24th and witnessed folks bringing on 12 packs of soft drinks. I was surprised as I had called MSC prior to the cruise and confirmed that no beverages were allowed to be carried on. Apparently this policy has changed, at least on our cruise. Was told at the port that it was ok to bring abroad soft drinks, water, and one bottle of wine per adult. Really wished I had known this before boarding.

  6. Boarding starts 12 noon- 1215. The first show is at 7pm for late seating guest.

Wonder why the boarding time is 4 PM on my cruise ticket. Maybe that is the all aboard time. So glad I asked on this forum as we were originally planning to arrive about 3 pm. Would much rather board earlier and enjoy the ship. Thanks for responding. Suzanne

  7. You'll love the Divina! :)

There was no lotion in the room. As the previous poster mentioned, there was shower and soap (the soap was the blue one but they are not labeled) in the shower. I would recommend bringing some conditioner only because the shampoo is a little rough on your hair.

We were told the cabin would be ready at 3pm, but they made an announcement that they were ready at 2:45.

We got in line to board at 12:30, and were on-board by 1:00pm. It was a very easy process. :)

Thank you! Will be packing conditioner and hand lotion. Happy to see recent favorable reviews.

  8. Hi 73mg,

Boarding probably usually begins around noon, though the cabins might not be available (fully cleaned) until 2pm or even 2:30.

    Muster is around 5pm.

There is shampoo on the wall, but no conditioner. I'm not sure on the lotion, but there is a hair dryer. NOT in the bathroom, but inside of a desk drawer ...

And, the shows for you will start around 6:45pm.

    THANKS!

    Suzanne

  9. Will be boarding MSC Divina on Jan 24th and have a few questions.

My cruise documents state Boarding at 4 PM but it seems that folks have been able to board earlier. What time can I realistically expect boarding to begin?

What time do they typically schedule the muster drill?

What bathroom amenities can I expect? Shampoo? Conditioner? Hand Lotion? Hair Dryer?

What time are shows for folks with late (8:45 pm) dining?

Thanks in advance for your help.

  10. We arrived in Guadeloupe with almost nothing planned since we did not find a lot of information about this island. We only wanted to go to the beach. As soon as we got out of the ship we went to the tourist information kiosk and got a map and asked the lady some questions. She suggested we go to St Anne beach and she spoke good English. Also next to the ship there was like a small market with stalls selling souvenirs. A taxi driver immediately approached us and told us that he'll take us to St Anne beach for Euro 40 for the 3 of us round trip. Since he spoke English we stuck with him but he said that he had a van and needed more people, so we waited around 15 minutes until he found another 3 couples. There were a lot of taxis waiting outside the gates but most of the drivers speak French. This beach was about 40 minutes away from the cruiseship and the water was very nice and clear. You can rent deck chairs but no umbrellas. There were many trees on the beach for people who would like shade. There are several restaurants and souvenir shops. To me it looked more like a beach town. The driver preferred that we all go back together to the ship but all the other on the van wanted to stay late until 5pm and we felt that was too much for us so we asked the driver to take us back to the ship at 2pm and he agreed.

Thanks for posting this. It is hard to find info on this port. Sounds like you had a good day. Suzanne
