Just a thank-you here for your quite remarkable (my opinion) reply to Cruise Happy Gal at the beginning of this thread. I refer in particular to the photo tour of the Nieuw Amsterdam. It is an absolute delight, not only for the way-better-than-usual photography, but also for pumping up my enthusiasm for a trip on the Nieuw Amsterdam we've booked for January.
I'm from Minnesota. I had the good luck to do an Atlantic crossing on the version of the Nieuw Amsterdam prior to this one — second of three, I believe. That was in June, 1967. And my wife and I sailed on Holland America several times over a few years in the early '00's. For the past several years, we've been loyal fans of Princess with this January deal being the first departure therefrom in a loooong time!
I'm not absolutely certain how that came to be, but I must say… your pictures have boosted my excitement many fold. Princess is great overall. Their itineraries are the best. The ships are superb and the service is wonderful throughout — again, my opinion. However, you have reminded me that Princess is NOT Holland America. I'd forgotten how much fun Sailaway can be from a front row seat in the Crows Nest!
