You will be charged 5% if you charge your room. I would bring cash to avoid that!

HI boontj2003, I have been searching for this answer on Celebrity's website, even the FAQ link provided above, and cannot find a reference to a fee.  My specific question is this:  If a person has a credit card linked to their on board account (which is required), and you purchase casino chips at a table and charge them to your account, is there a fee charged?   Have you been charged the 5% recently?

  2. We have sailed in suites before, and have sailed out of San Juan, but we have not sailed in a Suite on Celebrity out of San Juan.   Can someone please describe Celebrity’s suite check in process at the San Juan terminal?

  3. After 7 cruises on Celebrity ships I have only once seen someone tip a server at either a bar or coffee shop for a casual drink. That single occurrence happened at Al Bacio during the morning coffee run. Whilst many say they tip my experience says otherwise.

Interesting. We notice guests frequently laying $1 - $2 on the bar next to their card, at the sunset bar, MC and the Martini bar...the places we frequent. Part of our standard pre-cruise preparation involves stopping by the bank for a couple hundred in $1 and $5 bills, specifically for bartenders and servers. These people work their tails off and they all appreciate it.

  4. Adam— Congratulations on your sisters wedding! Looks like it was beautiful. And how did you manage to capture the pic of them with the rainbow?

Thanks so much for the frequent updates. We sail on the Silhouette in September. We have sailed Celebrity a couple of times, but this will be our first voyage on the Silhouette so I am anxious to hear all about the onboard experience. I am watching and reading with great interest.

    Enjoy the cruise!

  5. Agree with everything everyone has posted. Concierge meeting us at check in and escorting us on board and straight to Luminae, welcome bottle of bubbly in the suite, fresh fruit daily, afternoon canapes, Michael’s and Luminae - the service and food / beverage options at both is spectacular, MC concierge booking excursions and reservations, priority debarkation, and more benefits than I can remember. It is top notch all the way. I do not think you will regret the decision.

    Enjoy your vacation.

  6. To Summit011604 (Paul):

Thanks for posting the pics of Silhouette’s Micahel’s Club. We have enjoyed MC on the Constellation on two sailings, and are looking forward to frequent visits during our upcoming Silhouette sailing. I am excited to see that it appears to be more spacious with an actual bar with bar stools, as opposed to the smaller bar area on Connie. (I expect we there are several areas on the S Class ships that are larger than on the M Class.)

  7. Yes you can upgrade and I recommend doing so before you board. You can make the change online,or by calling CCL. I would make the change before hand for three reasons: 1) “Premium” will be printed on you card which allows servers to know right away what package you have and they can provide upgraded beverages without having to swipe your card to see what is available to you. 2) It is available as soon as you board and 3) you wont have to wait in line at quest services.

  8. On our last cruise, escargot was a standard on the MDR menu. We dined in Luminae, and I ordered the escargot from the MDR every night. No worries! In typical Celebrity fashion the servers learned my preference very quickly and pre-ordered the escargot as soon as we were seated in Luminae.

  9. Think of it this way. Stop at the 1st bar. Get 2 drinks with your cards. Have one of you hold the 1st 2 drinks and the other person stops at 2nd bar with 2 seapass cards and pick up 2 more drinks. Then go to your balcony each with 2 drinks. You can also go to the Oceanview Cafe and make up some appetizers for the balcony. Enjoy your cruise.

Have used this approach often. Works very time!!!

  10. We will never cruise without a drink package! Not only do you get alcoholic drinks but premium coffees and evian/Perrier, smoothies from aqua spa cafe. Can also order drinks that are out of the norm and toss em if we don’t like them. Total freedom.

100% agree with this. I think many people don’t realize all of the options available with a premium drink package — it’s not just alcohol. Smoothies at the spa cafe, nice coffees and iced tea at Cafe al Bacio, Evian from any bar, Perrier, soft drinks. If you do drink alchohol, you get premium brands in any drink you order. Grey Goose martini? No problem. Knob Creek in your old fashioned? Done. Oh, you didn’t like that and would like to try something else? No worries, what can I get you? We will never cruise without a drink package!
