  1. As others have stated - 17th Street area is my favorite. Plenty of "last minute" shopping avbl, as well as eateries. If you're looking for a 5-Star establishment - then look elsewhere. Diners are good, friendly and easy to walk to. Close to the port, so not terribly expensive to get there. Some (but not many any) hotels offer shuttle service (most for a charge) - I would take a taxi.

Like others have said - look at the Florida boards for more info.

Good luck in your decision - have a great cruise.

  2. Depends on what your cruise line is charging for the voucher. Is it less than the taxi charge?

Sometimes you have to book a return trip with the cruise line in order to get said 'voucher'.

First time there we tried the 'voucher' and we ended up waiting, and waiting for other passengers - some of which were on different flights. On the return trip to the airport we sat on the bus at the pier for at least 45 mins waiting for others to show up. Really wished we had taken a taxi. Plus.... the bus decided to take us for a 'tour' of Old San Juan and then expected a tip for doing it!!

  3. President Obama issued an executive order allowing Americans to go to Cuba. President Trump has said he will cancel every executive order issued by President Obama.

While I will prob agree with everything you're thinking.... please don't let these threads get "political". Just like on a ship - we don't talk religion or politics. Makes for much better friends,

  4. Just logged in and found that I can't go back to the old format now. They have made some improvements in that I can now see the treads I've been following (highlighted in red) and show any that I've responded to. So it's getting better. Just wish they would move the stuff from the right side of the screen - 25% of my screen - back up to the top and let me see full-screen. The pictures would be so much bigger and better.

Might be just me - using Chrome on a PC.

Just noticed as well.. the Title for the thread is now below the post instead of at the top - which is where most people start.... Title, post.

  5. I acquired the early morning habit early in life and it was reinforced by my career as a Firefighter/Paramedic in Miami . We had to be at work before 7 AM and it was an hour and a half drive from where we live . The habit remained after my retirement .

Totally get it. I was in Air Traffic for 35 yrs and had to be at the airport many mornings by 5:45. You won't get it.. but up here 4am is snow/ice, you name it in the winter! Just had to be there.. not much sleep those nights.

    Take Care...

    Keep those pics coming.

  6. Hi Scuba... I've been following this thread from the beginning, but have never posted - Yeah, I'm one of the 24k gawkers.

Your pics are absolutely amazing, I'm sure you take great pride in that. You prob shud create a business (maybe you have?) and try to sell some of them to Princess - they're much better than their contract photographers take.

One thing I've really noticed.... There are seldom/rarely/never - people in your photos. How do you accomplish that? Stay up all night, or up at 4am - never leave the ship while others go into port?? Maybe it's Photoshop! Kidding.. I doubt you would do that.

Anyway - thanks for doing this... must be your passion. Many of us appreciate that you take the time to make us all feel good remembering our times on these ships, or those looking forward to the first time.

Take care - I look forward to every morning waking and coming to look at this thread.

    Doug

  7. DING DING DING....we have the post of the day/week/month.

Which leads to nothing more than speculation and assumption. And, of course, the poster that never comes back with any followup.

Knew you would chime in!! Just trying to get the OP to give more info. I know they seldom do.

  8. Not knowing the details of these flights (we seldom do) or dates etc I am curious as to why someone would want to spend 16-20 hours for a stop-over flight when there are non-stops avbl PHL - CDG for under 8 hours and no changing planes in a foreign country... other than for $$$ of course.

Then I looked, and Viking River Cruises (may, or may not be OPs Cruiseline) is offering free airfare from YYZ. IF?? that's what has happened here, would the OP not have to fly on 2 seperate tickets? One PHL - YYZ on their dime, and a second YYZ - CDG provided by Viking? Should that be the case will they not have to go thru both customs and immigration in YYZ then collect their bags and check in again with AC for international departure? Just thinking.....

  9. If I understand your. question correctly, yes you can access the aft pool there is a door way that leads out to the pool area. We just got off the Crown two weeks ago and we used it. You just go as far back on the Aloha deck , the door is there ( !We were on starboard side, not sure about port side). There is a short stairway up. Hope this helps.

Thrak might be thinking of a different ship, not all of them have that door.

But.. but... The stairs you mention are at the back of Riviera deck - deck 14.

From deck 12 you have to go up one deck to 14. Access to the pool is from Riviera and Lido decks.

  10. Are they included in the sip n sail?

Not exactly sure what you're asking? Are ALL gratuities included? Or just the gratuities on the drinks? I would think they would be included for the drinks but can't find the sip n sail promo you're talking about. More info would be good. Fine print can be noteworthy.

  11. Where did you see the original poster claim anywhere to have been cruising for 25 years? I only saw two posts by the original poster and neither one mentioned anything about how long they had been cruising.

    Tom

Easy - click on the OP's username and look at all posts. Here's what the OP posted yesterday afternoon on their roll call.....

We are also waiting for a cabin. We also booked in May. I am worried. I guess the lesson to be learned is NOT to book early. We are flying in and taking Princess transport to ship. We have been cruising for 25 years and never had this happen before. I was told we have to look for a special desk on the peer to find out our cabin.

So it appears that as of yesterday Princess had advised them on the procedure to use when they arrive at the port. Don't understand this "unpacking" stuff.

  12. This is the one to do:

    Ships: Royal Princess

Ports: Ft. Lauderdale, Florida | Aruba | Curacao | Grenada | Dominica | St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands | Princess Cays, Bahamas

10 days, 7 islands. Your mom won't be bored and you get Aruba and Curacao and also Grenada - which is AWESOME!

That's exactly the one I was thinking of.

  13.

But, it does bring us back to the solution: ENFORCE the assignments. It won't affect you that respect the assignments. And it WILL fix a lot of the problems the rest of us see.

WHAT??? Princess actually Enforcing their own rules? I'll be a happy dog when that starts to happen.
