Do they allow you to take you towel and a dry bag with you or do you go back to the bus and change prior to lunch?

Not sure but we usually wear quick dry shorts and shirt on these things. Assuming it will be hot, you should dry off fairly quickly. Besides, everyone else will also be wet, so I assume they are prepared to let you change or dry off before getting back on the bus.

  2. My cruise ship gets into port in Georgetown @ 7am and leaves at 4pm. I am planning on getting off the ship and walking to Eden's Rock dive shop for a Discover Scuba dive. The dive starts at 9am and lasts 3 hours until 12pm. Once we are done with the dive at 12pm, we will probably get a quick bite to eat and then look for something else to do before the cruise ship leaves at 4pm. Is it feasible to catch a cab to 7 mile beach and spend a few hours there? Do the buses run by the Eden Rock dive shop or would I need to walk back to the cruise port and catch the bus there? What time is recommended to leave the beach and head back to the cruise ship if it departs at 4pm?

    Thanks.

As Capt BJ has recommended, if you a Guy Harvey fan, that would be a great stop. Also I think he still has T-shirt shop next door with the upstairs full of Guy Harvey prints and paintings. Some are actually reasonably priced. We pick up a couple and while we went to get some lunch, Dr. Harvey signed them with a personal note to us as well.

  3. The wife tried a Go Pro and liked it. Once we added up all the accessories to go with it (tray w/lights, selfie stick, red and close up lens, extra battery, case, ect), it was over a grand. Also it was a little tricky to set it up to do what we wanted, our fault-not the camera. So our local dive shop recommended Intova. Basically the same thing but under $500 for everything. Amazon had some kits for as little as $250. Also it was much easier to use.

  4. No only can they order off of either menu, sometimes ours would want something not on the menu. If they are able to do it, they will, but it maybe the next day. Years ago, the youngest wanted toasted PBJ's. He got one every night. Go figure. Now, like others have mentioned, they are more open to try new things like sushi, lobster, ect.

  5. Hello everybody!

My hubby and I are cruising on the Pride soon and want to do something special to celebrate our anniversary. We are debating on doing the Chefs Table, but have a few questions.

First off, does anyone have a recent Chefs Table menu? What kind of food do they cook?

Second, what night is it normally held? We are on a 14 day cruise.

Third, what kind of attire do we wear? Formal? Semi casual? I'm sure close toed shoes are required...

    Thanks in advance!!

I would vote "yes". We have also done 3 CT. All were in different parts of the ship. One was in the library, other in meeting room and the 3rd in the galley. It was a little hard to hear the Chief and staff in the galley though. Part of the package included a tour of the galley, pretty much all the wine you want, a group pix and some of the best food you will ever get on a cruise. Also included was a chance for everyone to make a small batch of chocolate warming with a copy of the recipe passed out afterwards. It seems to me the Chief makes the menu up so I'm sure it varies. Since I'm not a foodie person, I really couldn't tell you everything we had. You will NOT go away hungry. Plan on 2 to 3 hours. Dress was casual. You don't want to wear anything tight. They book 12 seats but will allow up to 14. Everyone of ours were filled. You will get assigned a seat. I think they try to pair up like couples. We have never has be disappointing with our table mates. It is a really fun time.

  6. Don't want to start a thread about smoking vs. non-smoking here, but just read Carnival's smoking policy and would like to know how bad the smoke usually is in the nightclub and in the casino.

Do we need to walk throught the casino to get to other places on the ship?

I'm very sensitive to cigarette smoke.

    Thanks

I didn't really notice it. Of course it will depend on the amount of smokers on the cruise. Over all, it was fairly smoke free, even in the casino. As for the nightclubs, I can't really remember anyone smoking.

  7. We did the same thing on the Dream. We ended up buying a couple of the blankets. One of the movies my wife wanted to watch was during our dining time. So the day before, we ask our dining room crew if they would set us up with one of the dishes she really wanted. The next day before the movie, I went to the dining room, picked it up and carried it to the lido deck. It was great!

  8. Maybe they should make the second service each day a "Diamond / Platinum perk".

    JUST KIDDING!!! :D

I hope they keep the "both" option in play for those that want/need two services each day.

If the second service were to go away, I wouldn't be thrilled, but I can live with it.

I get the feeling you like to kick the bee hive. I thought the same thing though. :D

  9. When we were on Conquest it started at 2:00. I would say that I had a buzz but that didn't stop me from enjoying the rest of the night.

I think drinking a lot of water is a great suggestion:D!

WHAT, "drinking a lot of water"? WHAT A BUZZ KILL!!:D That borders on alcohol abuse. ;)

  10. I sent in a request last Thursday for our upcoming cruise on the Conquest in late April, but have not received a reply.

I did receive the following "boiler plate" response about 5 minutes after emailing

    <<>>

Sounds like your locked in to me. They book 12 but allow 14, per the Head Chief. I don't think I ever heard anyone turned away.

  11. Hello! Has anyone done the Chef's Table recently? What was the menu like and where was it held? What night was it held it on? And was it worth it? I will be sailing in April. :)

We have done it 3x on different ships. It was different on every ship. 1 was in the library, another in the galley and another in a small seldom use bar/meeting room. The menu was different for everyone. It's up to the head chief. They were all great! We aren't foodies in anyway shape or form, but it was absolutely worth it. They all 3 ended with a free group pix.

I'm sure a quick thread search will give you much more info and details that I could ever do.

  12. More details in my review (link in my signature).

I would suggest having a cocktail the first night and asking if you could sign up for the class. We had about a dozen people in our class. the cost for the class per person was $15.

    Have a great cruise!

I will have to remember that. My wife would love doing that. She doesn't drink much but she loves to mix them up.

  13. It's been a few years since out last dive at GT. We were a little disappointed the last time with the amount of fish. It seem the lion fish had work on them pretty hard with the DM taking care of about a dozen of them during our dive. How is it now? Are there still lion fish everywhere? Thanks.

  14. So, apparently we're such lushes that the Alchemy Bar knew our crew well. They told us about a special Mixology class that isn't in the Fun Times. You have to sign up after you come back from Cozumel and the class is on your last sea day afternoon (at 3:30 or 4. I don't remember which. I blame the cocktails). They allow 11 to sign up, but only 8 of us actually showed up for the class. The put out a "private function" sign and the class began. Our master mixologist, Drazen of Bosnia, takes his profession very seriously and is very proud of his skill and knowledge. We received a history lesson, a demo on how to properly shake a shaker, how to dislodge the glass, how to light orange zest, samples cocktails, learned drink recipes, learned about homemade infusions, etc. etc. At the end, we each received (in addition to our free drinks during the class) a coupon for a free Alchemy Bar cocktail and a diploma. The whole thing was only $15 per person!!!

Great review! I usually don't make it through these, but yours is hitting the right spots and things we like to do. I will definitely let my wife know about this. It's right up her alley. She doesn't drink much, but she loves to make drinks for everyone.

  15. It could have been a resent storm churning it up. If that was the case, probably most of the beaches were the same. We have never done Sanchos, but it has many fans on here. We have always used Paradise Beach. Great pool with chairs around or on the step down ledge in the pool. Chairs on the beach in the sun or in the shade or under an umbrella. Food and drinks are good at a good price. The price seals the deal for us. It's like $3 pp to use the facilities. If you want to use the climbing floats and water toys, it's like another $8 pp. We normally spend less than $75 total for 4 people.

  16. We are booked on the Dream. It is myself, husband, children 4 and 8, and my mother. When we were selecting our rooms, the only way that made any sense financially was to divide us up. My mom and 8 year old are assigned to a small interior on the floor below us, and we have a 3 person balcony.

My question is, how easy would it be to fit our 8 year old in our cabin with us? Would the fold out bed hold smaller kids? I know it's not meant to be a 4 person room, but if my mom is doing her thing at night, I want to be able to put my children to bed. I also am a bit of a rule follower and don't want to get "in trouble" for having an extra person in the room.

We have done 3, a 13 yr old, in a Dream balcony. The 3rd bed was the sofa with the back cushions removed. I guess you could put one on the cushions on the floor in front of the sofa. They usually have extra sheets/blankets in the room. If not, they would get you a set if you ask.
