  1. it's not clear what the deal actually is...it hasn't been posted anywhere.

I found out by accidentally calling my TA this morning to move a cruise booked on-board to them. The web site said nothing and didn't indicate any offer. Later in the day, the web site changed and it now shows better at $0 upgrade (and no price for "best" BTW)...and a slight increase in price. But I wouldn't know any of that without trying to book the cruise or talking to a TA (it's not on any TA site either, AFAIK).

There may or may not be some sweetener for European or other cruises. Who knows, maybe this deal applies to TA's or others. It's a very strange way to do marketing.

I guess I'd advise everyone to check their cruise by doing a phantom booking on the Celebrity site...and see if this deal applies and if it makes sense to make any changes.

Thanks GH, did a mach booking on our Infinity cruise and found we could add the second promo "better" added $ 300 OBC to our booking at the same rate. Called =X= and they had no problem adding the second promo to our booking. It pays to read these posts, we have a price change notification but since it was the same until reading this thread I wasn't notified.

  2. Hi GH,

I'm enjoying your live from review so far as I always do. I don't think you are being to negative and not everyone onboard has the same experience, nor should that be expected. I think with the rough seas and all those cabin issues I'd have a hard time enjoying things as well.

Sounds like the entertainment is about the same as on our last TA on Solstice, lots of shop till you drop and pay extra offers. Looks like they did add more "go play with yourself" ones to fill in the dailies better. I guess this is going to be the norm these days.

Hope you have continued good seas and enjoyment along the way to Port Everglades. I'll be joining Infinity after the end of your TA and looking forward that and the balance of reporting, thanks again for taking the time out of your cruise.

    Joel

  3. Ship: Solstice

    Deck - Sky Deck 10

    Cabin # - 1110

    Class – Celebrity Suite (CS)

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Bed near?(balcony or bath) – In bedroom near bath

Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – Very quiet, minor trim creak in living room but far less noise then other cabins we've been and nothing that would be a problem.

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Wonderful unobstructed view forward, great view of bridge wing and could see forward to the bow. If you lean over balcony rail you can also see aft.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Suite is the first on forward hump angle furthest outside of hump. Balcony is huge maybe 15' deep x 20' and 10' deep on angle side. Had table with 4 chairs (2 more then STD) and 2 loungers with small table (1 extra lounger then STD) on balcony when we arrived.

Was wind a problem? Some minor buffeting when encountering strong headwinds but somewhat normal under those conditions. Had the opening balcony partition to the CS suite next to us break the locking latch during strong winds but it was repaired within an hour. Under normal wind conditions no problems at all.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? 52" flat panel TV in living room DOA on first day due to Apple controller located under left side of cabinet. This was replaced the first evening of cruise. It was easy to knock the handset off the phone located near the toilet in bathroom when using it. Balcony handrail, table and chairs were in need of sanding and refinishing of wood surfaces.

Any other comments? Great suite and more then enough room and storage for two people. We loved the location on the hump near mid-ship elevators and just outside library. The view from the large balcony was incredible on the forward angle of hump. We don't normally book suites but got a good deal on this one and it may have spoiled us.

  4. Cabin 9231 has been reported as having bed by bath so one would assume that 9237 has same arrangement. I am adding it to spreadsheet as "Bath" unless contradicted.

Posters, please note ship name in subject as well as Cabin #.

    Sandi,

Cabin 9231 was reported with the bed by the balcony which would agree with the deck plans. Cabin 9237 per the deck plans (shows both trundle bed and upper birth) should have the bed by the bath which would agree with 9231 being the other way around.

It would be nice to clear this up as I've got 9237 reserved on two future sailings and this information shouldn't mislead people.

  5. Hey Joel,:) did you happen to meet the F&B man? Ludwig? Would

you know if he was called Ziggy? I swear I met someone by

that same name on a prior cruise...wish I could remember

    which ship though:eek:

    Hi Lois,

I’m not sure if we did meet him but there was a friendly German gentleman who would came to our table each night and would comment on our wine selection and food choice. I assumed he was our assistant MD but it seemed he was called the F&B manager during baked Alaska night but I could be wrong.

  7. Now I am really confused. I was told that we had partial coverage on the balcony and the rest was open. Your picture looks like it is all covered. It is a photo of 6143 on the Summit, right?

I know I should just wait to see what it looks like when I get on the ship but I am getting antsy about the trip and daydreaming helps!

Yes that is taken from the balcony of 6143 on Summit and like I said it’s the same on all other M-Class ships except Millie which is only partially covered. I’ve had that room on all four now (really the mirror cabin 6144 on Connie) so I’m sure of that.

As for the loungers they might have added them since I was on, but only Millie had them on our sailings. One thing to keep in mind is these balconies stick out from the cabins above. On Millie we had everyone above looking down on us so there was no privacy. We didn’t tend to use the full balcony as much as I didn’t want to scare anyone above me when I stepped out early in the morning.

We found the loungers on Millie got in our way and made the balcony feel much smaller than the other ships without them but thats just how we felt.

    Hope this helps:)

  8. Hi Xcruiser' date=' here's another link with a picture of stateroom 6135 on the Summit, with the loungers :

    http://travel.webshots.com/photo/1502360061061635310sRDQQL

So now we really don't know what to expect. We will be in 6136, so the veranda will be fully covered and no sun exposure ?[/quote']

Hi Cote d’or:) , I’m a little confused by the picture in that link as well. That seems to show the balcony only partially covered but more so than on Millie. I was really referring to cabin 6143 just a few cabins aft of 6135. I know when I was on it in October 2004 cabin 6143 had no loungers and was fully covered as was the case on Infinity and Connie. I downloaded another shot I took looking down the rail towards Cabin 6135 on Summit and it looks fully covered to me per below:

I have another shot from above that seems to show the same. Hope this helps.

  9. Hello, X-Cruiser. We are off on the Millenium to Canada this coming September. My wife and I enjoy having a leisurely breakfast in our cabin/suite each morning, but we are concerned about a table on which to eat that breakfast. We will be in a Sky Suite.

That round glass table in the picture is certainly small, but it could be used if it is high enough. THAT'S THE QUESTION! Someone has told me that those little round tables have an adjustable center column which allows them to be raised to normal table height. Do you know if that is true?

    Dick & Kay from Southampton

    (The one without the beach!)

If you have a sky suite things will be deferent as to the breakfast service but the tables inside the CC rooms do adjust to height. They are small to eat off of but we have never found a need to adjust them that way per the height of the seating.

  10. Thanks so much for the pictures! I am VERY excited now, but also had one more question... I was hoping we would have lounge chairs and a larger table to have breakfast/meals on our balcony. Do you think they have them now, or would they bring them for us?

Thanks so much for the link! I can't get enough pictures! :)

You should have the larger balcony table along with the small one in the picture I posted. The same chairs with cushions but not the loungers. Millie was the only M-Class ship that had lounger’s standard in that cabin and that was what was pictured in the link on Cote d’or’s post. Millie didn’t have the full canvas cover over the balcony so with sun exposure they had the loungers. We enjoyed the balcony much more on the other M-Class ships not only because of the cover but without the loungers you had more room to move the table and chairs around to enjoy the views. Also you have some privacy from the cabins above you.

You can ask for the loungers but likely they will say they can’t due to safety reasons. On Millie we found out why that is as we had 40 knot headwinds for two days and one of our loungers wanted to go airborne and kept slamming into the balcony divider. We had to move them in closer to the cabin but than we could enjoy the balcony.

I have more pictures of this cabin on the other M-Class ships and they are all pretty much the same so I can post some if you’d like.

  11. We are going to be in 6143 on the Summit in a couple of months. We are so excited. Would you happen to have any photos of the cabin and the balcony??

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

I had cabin 6143 on Infinity, Summit and Millie also 6144 on Connie. It’s a great cabin in a great location of the ship. I just posted these pictures of 6143 from Summit in October 2004 just before it was converted from a 1A to a CC. It’s likely that a larger table and pads for the balcony chairs were added then. The cabin shot is a little dark and for some reason we took only of few pictures of it then. You’ll really enjoy the room and location.

    Happy sailing!:)

  12. Aren't you on Millie? You don't go to Tortola?

I pretty sure my documents say the ship is Millie and we go to St. Thomas. Your cruise is expected to go to Tortola. Although I’ve been to St. Thomas more times then my house I think I still like it.;)

Do the baths in Tortola, you will feel like it after the smell of that sushi.

  13. Xcruiser: I think we've hijacked this thread!!! LOL....What are you doing in DR & Tortola? I'm stuck. Want to do my own thing in Tortola but unsure about the Baths....Do you know how much rock climbing is involved to get to the beach? May just stay on ship in DR!

Can't wait to find that sushi on about day 4.....:D

If I’m in Tortola next week I got on the wrong ship:eek: , we are not going there as we do St. Thomas in place. I have been there and I would do the Baths and it’s all down hill to the beach so you’re not climbing rocks, but that sure was fun to do. Did I mention the way back?

The DR is not all that great but if you have not been to Alto’s it’s nice and just $ 7.00 USD, 2 Euro’s and 10,500 pesos’ to get there. Great views so I liked it.:)

Oh and about the sushi, by day 4 your can wait along time.

P.S. is there a law about hijacking threads, if so arrest me.:D

  14. Should I push my luck? Are the loungers CUSHIONED? :D

Xcruiser: I'll be looking for that note in 6144! You'd better leave some food onboard for me! :D Been dieting for months in anticipation...

Ok RealDeal, I’ll leave a note and some Sushi in a very special place only I know about in your stateroom. After about midway into your cruise I’m sure you’ll find it.;)

I’ll also let Lydia know that if someone comes over to our stateroom (6143) by the name of RealDeal and asks for a lounger pad, It’s ok to take one of ours.

Since we will have had these staterooms on all M-Class ships after are next cruise I heard that Celebrity is going to change these cabins to Xcruiser Class. :D

Thanks for the info on our room Cruiser Bill, glad we will be spoiled again.:)

RD – you got your wish.

  15. Our friends were in 6143 on Millie last week, and had the two loungers.

Thats good news, It's not a bigDEAL to me but it is to REALDEAL. I'll be in the this room Sunday with a glass of bubble in hand and reclining in my lounger, oh life is soooo good.:D :D :D

RD - Note on stateroom door N/R.:)

  16. Thx...although I'll be gone when you return!! I leave for Ft. Lauderdale around noon on 1/26!

Funny that our paths crossed again, though....I'm the "X Cruiser" that the RC person was trying to send pics to when you thought it was you! LOL.

Either way, I'll live...I just love loungers & I was looking forward to it. I really think it may be a function of being a fire hazard, as that's what the other poster posted & that's what I was told on my Princess cruise, when previously I had a lounger in the exact same type of cabin!

Hope you enjoy your cruise...wish I could get your report prior to my departure...oh, well!

Hey, I'm Xcruiser the REALDEAL!!!:D LOL to funny. If there are loungers on the balcony I'll leave a note on your cabin door to let you know.:p

BTW: The aft CC's have the loungers but I was told it was a fire safety issue, don't know why Millie would be differant. Most other balcony dividers are fixed rather than hinged like these ones.

I leave some food onboard for you,;)

  17. "I loved 6143. The location is great and the balcony is awesome. I liked the fact that it is a wood floor versus that rough stuff they use on the other balconies. Ours had 2 padded chairs, 2 padded loungers and a large table. Take it!"

I found this post from a Millie thread from last summer, fyi, so apparently the 2 loungers had been provided at some point. I know on my Princess cruise in September we tried to get a lounger for our oversized balcony & were denied...Oh, well, I suppose I'll live, but if I encounter another major food letdown as I did in September, well look out! :D

I'll let you know on Millie as I have cabin 6143 next Sunday. I have seen pictures as well from Millie showing the loungers in this Cabin so I'm not sure why it would be differant. The only differance I'm aware of is on Millie this cabin is not completely covered (canvas) as other M-Class ships are.

  18. We were in 6144 on the Constellation 12/28 sailing. The 2 metal lounge chairs have been removed from the balcony .The explanation given for the removal was "safety reasons such as fire".The RS did retain the teak furniture.

    Mary

I have had room 6143 (same cabin on other side of ship) on Infinity, Summit and 6144 on Connie. None of these had loungers so when were they removed? I have never seen them provided in these cabins going back to 2004. The RS cabins next to this one have teak ones as the balcony is about 3 X wider so it allows them to be placed without blocking the opening balcony dividers.

On those M-Class ships the balcony is covered so you’re not going to get much sun anyway so we didn’t miss them.

  19. We are on alaskan cruise on 1st August and have changed our cabin from 8169 to 6144. Have we done the right thing? 6144 looks like it has more room but if this is so why has someone else not gone for it? We are doing a B2B so we will have seen the views going up from our aft cabin.

Oh yeah, you did the right thing. Balconey is about 3x normal and room is 1' wider. Looks larger on the deck plans that it really is. I had 6144 on our last cruise on Connie and we have 6143 on Millie this Sunday.

    You'll really enjoy that room.:)
