  1. I noted the thread started with just hearing this, is it confirmed? Has anyone found an obit? If true it is sad. I miss him and his advise on these threads. Was happy to find him chatting on the site mentioned.

Yes, sadly it is true. He will be missed by Stitch, Eddie and his "cruise friends". He was a great friend and convinced me to start cruising after my husband passed away.

  2. That is an excellent review! Thank you very much for posting it.

We're going on 9/30 and I was looking for excursion ideas. The last time we tried that itinerary Hurricane Paula kept us from getting to 3 of the 4 stops.

I'm sorry that it seems the singing Matre'd is no longer on the Legend. He sounded very much like Dean Martin. I like the waiter entertainment but he added so much more to the experience.

Looks like a lot of people reading the review are going on 9/30 too. Feel free to stop us and say hi if we cross paths.

The singing Matre'd is Ken Bryne. He is on the Breeze. I saw him on the Magic this past March and he is wonderful. You are so right that he sounds like Dean Martin. Can't wait to see him again on the Breeze in Jan.

  3. Lambie, Victoria is so pretty. We took a pub tour and had a ball. Our first stop provided finger foods and one or two beers. We could walk out on their back patio and the views and gardens were so pretty. They had these lamposts with flowers that were so pretty. I just hated that our time there was so short. Great pictures. Chiefie is right about the gardens. I didn't see them, but, understand they are really nice.

  4. Lambie, was there any way for them to know that a train was stuck before they let another train go up there? If there isn't, seems like they need something in case there is a worst problem. Skagway is where I bought a jacket that I love. Wish I had bought more things because since we went in Sept., one of the last for the season, everyone was trying to make as much as they could before they had no more ships coming in until the next yr. Lots of good sales, 1/2 price or less.

Wish I could do the Sept cruise, but, just not enough vacation days left, but, I will be there for the weekend, so will get to see you, Nana and meet Mary.

Once again, I want to say, how good your pictures are. Hope the ones I take tomorrow come out half as good.

  5. Lambie, loving it. I may just have to buy a new camera, even though the one I have, isn't even a yr old yet. Skagway is where I bought my jacket, even though I didn't need it. We had taken several coats with us, but, I loved it. Wished I have bought a couple extras for Christmas presents. Can't wait until you get to the cruise part. I so want to see a picture of the new "Lambster". Your pictures are simply amazing, so clear and post card worthy.

  6. What a great review. Your pictures were some of the best that I have seen. Loved the pictures taken around the ship. We cruised the Sapphire to Alaska and there was so much of the ship we didn't have a chance to see. One of these days I will figure out the settings on my camera to get nighttime shots close to being as half as good as yours. That poor polar bear looked like a dog waiting to be let out of his cage. My last 3 cruises have been solo, but, with a group and I have never been asked why I was cruising by myself. My next cruise will be solo also, but, with this same group.

  7. Thank you for thinking of us and following our story.

I have been wanting to go on a Bloggers cruise but we just cannot afford the airfare (or gas for travelling) to Miami. Or anywhere outside of Charleston at this point. :p

I have seen the morning show clips of Calvyn and John. They make a great comedic duo! Maybe one day we will get a chance to sail on a BC. :)

Yeah, this one is going to be expensive for me since I am having to fly. Since it is in the middle of Jan., there is no way I am going to try and drive. They are a lot of fun. I had to drive to Galveston a day early because we were expecting ice, sleet and possible snow for the next day. I wanted to be sure that I could get across the causeway before they closed it. Sure enough, I got up Friday morning, freeways are closed because of ice and the causeway is closed. A lot of our group that were driving, had some interesting trips and some got the last flights into Houston. We sometimes refer to it as the "Ice Bowl" instead of the Super Bowl. Hope to see ya both on a cruise in the future. Sure nice to see Andrew smiling again.

  8. Loved you review and pictures. I read your first review, followed the story about the fire and Andrew's recovery, so was very happy when I came across this one. Have y'all ever thought about cruising out of Miami? I am going with a group that I started crusing with after Joe passed away and they are a great bunch, lots of fun, etc. Our group cruise is Jan 19th on the Breeze. It is also BC6, which is John's Bloggers cruise. Went on BC5 and had a blast. John and his sidekick, Calvyn(sp) are a hoot and a half. This will give you a chance to actually meet John. There are special activities just for the bloggers. Would love to have you both cruise with us and get a chance to meet y'all.

  9. Thanks! I sailed on the Ecstasy when I was younger so I don't remember it that well. I also was on the Legend not too long ago (me and my DH got engaged on the Legend). I actually prefered the Legend as a smaller ship compared to the larger Magic ship. It felt less crowded and was easier to get around. Don't get me wrong though, the Magic was beautiful as I asume the Breeze will be as well.

I have always wondered about the blogger's cruises, is that open to anyone or do you need to have some sort of blog to do them.

I am actually working on starting a blog website right now. I love talking cruise and thought it would be fun to have something of my own.

Stacy, anyone can sail with the bloggers. It is an 8 day cruise leaving out of Miami Jan 19. What you will need to do once you book the cruise, is watch John Heald's blog for the link to sign up as one of the bloggers and then you will be invited to all the blogger activities. If you are on FB, you can also watch his posts and he will post the link there also. I will also be part of the "Crazies" and we will have several activities just for our group. Y'all ought to think about it. BC5 was so much fun.

  10. Oh that's too bad, Wel maybe one day you will be able to do it. We figured, what the heck we are only getting married once and went for it! We are just finishing paying evrything off from the wedding and honeymoon but it was totally worth it:) Hope you have fun on your upcoming breeze cruise! We are sailing on the Ecstasy this November and I can't wait for some sun and relaxation:)

Stacy, you will really like the Ecstasy. We hated to see it leave Galveston. If Steve is still the CD and if one of the shows is "Country Extreme", you really need to try and go see it. Steve plays the fiddle and he is as good as some of the well known fiddle players. The Ecstasy will be a big change from the Magic, much smaller, but, still a lot of fun. I am really looking forward to the cruise on the Breeze, but, dang, hotels in Miami are expensive. I am flying in the day before since it is in Jan and don't want to run into any weather problems. I go with a group and we always have a lot of fun. John H. always has a lot of things planned for the Blogger's cruises

  11. You know it really isn't as expensive as you may think. Yes, it definitely cost a bit more then your average cruise to the bahamas because of all the spending you can do in the ports. The thing is you can really do things on your own if you wanted to save money and still get to see a lot of Europe!

Right now for May 2013, a 9 day cruise stopping at all of the ports we were at and more is around $550 for an inside cabin. Not to shabby!

I am so used to having a balcony and right now I travel solo, so that bumps the price way up there. I would also want to fly over a day or 2 early and spend an extra day before flying back to the states. Right now I couldn't take that much time off plus the expense of boarding my two little boys. Before I read your review, I had no desire to do a cruise like this. The Magic is a beautiful ship and we are so happy she calls Galveston home. A lot of our group are going on the Breeze in Jan. New ports will really be nice. for a change.

  12. Loved the angry bird review, cracked me up! I have seen a few others with stuffed animals of some sort since, but they didn't tickle me like the angry bird did!! lol I don't see anything wrong with it, who cares if everyone GETS IT???

I loved the Angry Bird review. That's right, it's our vacation, after all.

Unfortunately, there are far too many people in this world that take themselves way too seriously and don't have much of an imagination or a good sense of humor. They're what some would call "sour pusses". My thoughts are, you're on vacation, why not have fun and create some happy memories. You might even make some new friends along the way (bonus!):)

I had never thought of doing it until I saw that cute little dog dressed for Halloween. He was only out of the cabin one time.

This thread proves that people will complain about absolutely anything.

Isn't that the truth???? It's not like anyone is asking them to carry it for them. Why complain about things people have with them on cruises??????

  13. I think it's sort of like the Travelling Gnome thing. You take a mascot of some sort and take a picture of whatever places you go to. It's just a fun way to remember your vacation. And you could possibly think of the stuffed animal or what have you as standing in your place since it's awfully hard to take a photo of yourself visiting such and such location.

Is it silly? Sure, but it's no fun being serious all the time. :) Just my two cents.

I agree. I took a little dog dressed for Halloween and only took it to the M & M. The rest of the time, it stayed in my cabin, either next to Joe's picture or nestled among the towel animals. I haven't decided if I am going to take one on our March cruise yet. I might if something catches my eye like the little dog did one day when I was in CVS.

It's called having fun... some of us do it in different ways. I have a stuffed Mickey Mouse that travels with us (like the travelling Gnome thing). Why question someone having fun? I guess I like having fun in my own way, and I won't apologize for it.

It is fun. The Halloween cruise is the first time I have done it.
