Sorry, nearly forgot, we have some friends from Belgium who will also be on the cruise.
Do you by any chance know what the position is regarding their visas?
-
You can go into Havana from the ship as many times as you like independently or not - don't worry its all sorted for you You do have to take your passport though and go through a passport controlThomson organises all visa requirements for cruise passengers.
Thanks Vitalsign & Tizzy-Jo and the answer I wanted as well!

You will be able to leave the ship and do your own thing independently in Havana. We have found Cuba to be the safest place ever and the people are wonderful, so friendly, always with a smile. Havana in fantastic, the history is everywhere.
Thanks but will we not need a visa to do it independently?
-
Thanks for your information Vitalsign, good to know saved us a trip to the Cuban Embassy.
Just checking that we are free to leave the ship in Cuba to explore independently (not on an organised tour) without additional visa charge.
In Russia I remember that unless you were on an organised tour you needed a visa to get off the ship.

When we booked our 2013 cruise via Iglu Cruises in the UK they were promoting free £50 M&S vouchers on booking the cruise. We have yet to receive it and have now been back from the cruise for several weeks.
Just wondered whether anyone else was experiencing difficulties or maybe you had forgotton about it (which seems to be what the travel company might prefer)
I had emailed them in August to enquire when we were likely to receive them (unanswered). Today I emailed them again and will update this thread with any outcome

Actually, for the Nov 28 cruise, there is one other airport, that is Doncaster/Sheffield, and it's cheaper too.
For some reason from the Thompson cruise website you can't actually select Doncaster to search for but if you leave the airport selection blank up it pops.
Give it a try, you may be surprised..
