  1. We have done this 2x in the past 10 years and plan to do it again on the Rotterdam in February.

In the past the taxi driver on St. Thomas had a buddy on St. John waiting for us and he took us to Trunk Bay and picked us up. He then called his St. Thomas buddy and told him what ferry we were on. He was waiting for us at Red Hook If you are cognizant of the time, this is definitely the way to go, as you can twice as much time on St. John vs the cruise excursion.  It's really easier than you think, plus the ferry ride is usually quite calm and pretty.

  2. I have 8 folks on the 2/13 sailing and all were offered an upgrade, so I believe they are still booking passengers but feel certain it can't be at capacity as there are quarantine rooms for both sick passengers and also crew, some of which have to quarantine since they have just joined the Rottterdam even though they have been vaccinated. As least that's the inform I've been given.

  3. I have been following along on the OP's trials and tribulations during quarantine and have chimed in a time or two.

I just wanted to take a minute to thank each and everyone of you who have helped him through this journey alone, be it with helpful hints, words of encouragement or just knowing how tough things are.  It has restored my faith in mankind despite the situation in these troubling times worldwide.  Cruise people are caring people and I'm honored to be part of this group. Keep up the good work people and I know we will all be there for any others who have similar circumstances.  God Bless you.

  4. So do I undertand correctly that if another member sharing the same initial room tests negative, then they can stay in that room?

If I tested positive I would hope they would let me negative tested spouse stay with me. Do you know if this is an option?

  5. So sorry that you are having to deal with this ugly virus that just wont let go.  We are on b2b on the Rotterdam (Caribbean) in mid February and were told we would be tested the day before disembarkation of the first cruise.  I am wondering if there is random testing throughtout the week on HAL ships if not transiting the canal or are you responsible for reporting feeling ill? Are temperatures being taken on a regular basis?  It seems you didn't have any symptons to set up a red flag. We are having some trepidation about following all the rules and regulations like you did and still being exposed. Any help, info or advice would be appreciated.  I have emailed people at HAL but get no solid info to help us make our decision.

Please keep all of your fellow HAL cruises updated on how you pass the time and how you are being treated. It may assuage some of our fears and keep you busy.

  6. Does anyone know if Norwegian publishes the names of the hotels in Denali for their land portion. I know we stay at the Alysska Hotel in Girdwood on the way up, but was wondering if and when we are made aware of our hotel for 2 nights in Denali.  We are on the June 3rd sailing on the Jewel from Vancouver.

  7. We are going on the Norwegian Jewel in early June and have booked with Dyea Dave.  He does a 16 passenger tour up to the Yukon and back for $89.00 per person.  If you want to take the White Pass Railroad back from Fraser, he makes a stop there and the additional cost is about $90 per person.  You can take the  tour van both ways for the $89.00. Seems a lot of folks have recommend the train back to Skagway and we are booking that. Dyea Dave told me he would take us to the train station before the tour and we could pick up our train tickets in the early am.  I believe we depart at 7:30 am and the train from Fraser arrives back in Skagway around 5:15 so not sure that would fit your port time.  There are lots of reviews that might help you.

  8. Hey DD,

So glad to hear that your trip and c scan turned out well.  8 of us are booked on the Norwegian Jewel from Vancover on 6/3 and have all booked with you in Skagway.  It is true that the train back now leaves at 3:30 and should we purchase tickets prior to arriving in Skagway? Thanks for the update on your health. and hopefully we will see you in June.

  9. Thanks so much Anni for your advice. Unfortunately our ship has a "sea day" after Kiel and then we are in Tallinn. My husband has been corresponding with the Bremen tourist office and they have found his Dad's birth certificate with address so he is pretty set on seeing the area he was from. Obviously the train seems to be a better choice, as we have never been to Germany and might not be comfortable driving. If we do take the train, is it possible to walk into town from the station, and if not, will we be able to get transportation from the station in Bremen? Sorry for all the questions, but this is very important to him and I really want to make it work, even if its only for 3 hours. We can probably rest on our sea day. You have given such good advice to so many of us that I trust you and your advice completely.

    Arlene

  10. We are sailing on the 8/26 Baltic cruise on the Eurodam. My husband's Dad was born in Bremen and we would like to visit there for the day. The train schedule does not seem to be able to accommodate the hours we are in port 7am -5pm and we were wondering if anyone has info on a car rental place close to the port and also if that would be feasible given the timeframe. Thanks for any advise.
