  1. Dinner tonight was at Teppanyaki. We had a reservation in advance of the cruise. This was the restaurant that my husband was looking forward to the most. We had been on Teppanyaki when we were on the Jewel a few years back. He enjoyed it then and was hoping for the same result tonight. It did not disappoint.

Dinner was delicious. My husband thinks this was the best food on the whole trip. Me, I personally liked Moderno more, but this was a close second. Tonight’s dinner took about 3 hours also. And we let the maîtred know that we were celebrating my parent’s 50th anniversary so when dessert came, the staff came over and sang to my parents, and presented my mom with a rose and cake. It was really nice.

Thanks for the detailed review! We’re going the 26th and wondering if your daughter was able to order from the kids menu in Teppanyaki? I have a picky eater 8 year old too and if not, going to cancel our reservation rather than pay for a meal he won’t eat. Thanks also for the great info about the kids activities on board, hopefully we’ll get to do some.

  2. We had balcony cabin 11300, port side, maybe 10 cabins aft from the rear elevators. We were familiar with the balcony cabins and basic layout on Escape having cruised previously on Breakaway 3 years ago. The cabin is small, odd clothing storage, balcony is small but shower and bathroom good. Hand soap dispenser mounted at the sink, shower gel and shampoo/conditioner combo dispensers mounted in shower, and bar of soap and small lotion bottle provided. The shower was curved glass and roomy enough (we’re large) with good water pressure and certainly hot enough, and plenty of counter and shelf space for toiletries (I’ve never brought an over the door thingy).

A hair dryer is provided under the desk but I bring my own, the mini bar was locked but left a note for the room steward to unlock and empty it. The safe was locked by the previous occupant but someone came immediately after calling...excellent. No drawers but half the closet are shelves, the other half hangers and long shelf above and shelves under the desk which were quite awkward to use. BUT the bed was almost against the closet so it was really difficult getting clothes and getting in/out of the bed. Uggghhh. Thought the bed was comfy and good air temperature control from hot to very cold. I like to take a travel clock that illuminates to keep on my nightstand but I know others use their phones, watches or the cabin phone for time.

You must use a card by the door for lights, AC colder than medium and room occupied display. There’s also a switch which activates do not disturb and make up cabin displays. The room was made up twice daily with towel replacement if dirty ones are left on the floor, fresh ice in the bucket, next days newsletter and towel animals.

We never ordered room service but champagne and chocolate covered strawberries were delivered for Platinum and twice during the week we had chocolate snacks delivered from the hotel director but not sure why. Very good and appreciated! Thank you NCL!

I didn’t take photos but plenty are available on CC and online.

Never, ever saw this cutie before. We never met our room steward but left an extra tip at the end because of the excellent, albeit mysterious, service.

Is the hair dryer full size with a concentrator on the end or a little, not so powerful one?

  3. My daughter got a Brazilian blowout one year before a cruise and was hooked. She now has it professionally straightened all year, and not just for a cruise. It's an unbelievable time saver and she loves it. We also set everything up the night before or the morning. Outfit on hanger with any camisole or whatever on same hanger. Undies in zip-lock on top ready to grab to head to shower. We also take a flat-folded cardboard type box (Dollar Tree) and put the hair dryer, hair accessories, make-up bag, mirror, jewelry roll, etc in it. It can be carried from bedroom to the desk and everything is in one spot ready to use without searching and laying everything out. It's in that one box ready. We can each be ready, from start to finish in 30 minutes. It's all in the planning ahead and organizing.;p

Never thought of this. Going to do this for my upcoming cruise. Thanks for sharing the great tip!

  4. I'm going to Bermuda on the Norwegian Escape this august. We have never been there. I was wondering if anyone knew what scuba company does NCL use? Should I book scuba through the ship or just book my own? I have read a lot about Fantasea diving, which got a lot of good reviews. If you don't use Fantasea, what company do you use?

    Thank you in advance

  5. I'm going to go to Bermuda on the Norwegian Escape this august. I have never been and I was wondering something. Should I use the cruise ship dive operator or should I just book on my own. I saw Fantasea diving is right there on the dock and was wondering what you guys have done in Bermuda? What dive operators would you recommend for a first timer to Bermuda. I did see that Fantasea divers got a lot of good reviews on TripAdvisor, any info would be helpful.

Never been there and am looking forward to going and diving in Bermuda

  6. I cruised at about 21 weeks same time of year too. As other posters stated, definitely have shade and a/c options for shore excursions. My advice would be to have her keep hydrated. More water than usual. Dehydration can cause pre-term labor. Increase normal water intake...really really important and not mentioned enough to pregnant women.

  7. We cruised with our son when he was 14 months. He had just started walking and basically wanted to cruise along every wall and piece of furniture on the ship so kept us busy. In GT we rented a cabana in Margaritaville. Loved having a cool place out of the sun and baby was able to nap. We also did a walking tour in PR that included the forts when he was 2. Stroller wasn't a problem and was entertained by the scenery and prob would have been at 14 months. Other advice bring more diapers than you think you will need. Was down to my last one at debarkation [emoji15] Even though there were foods he could have we were paranoid as not all foods had been given prior to rule out allergies so we brought familiar snacks and baby food containers. Disposable bibs and spoons too. Also brought new small toys he had never seen before for meals. It will be a fun time!Enjoy your cruise!
