  1. Floris, we were offered a big discount to book the cruise you are considering and opted out. The worry after our September crossing was canceled and lack of communication on the part of Scenic cured us of wanting to travel with them. Just my 2 cents, since you asked.

  2. I think Scenic needs to let their customers know what is going on. They need to allow anyone who feels uneasy to cancel their trips and refund the deposits. This is the only way they can protect their reputation. If you have a travel agent you need to contact them and have the go to bat for you to find out what is going on.

  3. you have been kept waiting way to long. Your TA is not representing you. Thanks to our TA we have received all of our money back weeks ago. I suggest you contact your TA and tell them to pay you the money owed and then collect from Scenic. My understanding is the TA commissions are all being paid, let them earn it.

  4. another example of being petty and upsetting a customer. We are over Scenic and will NEVER consider traveling with them. This has been an awful experience. They had to know long before they notified passengers that this ship would not be ready as planned in August. Why anyone is booing with them is beyond me. We are thankful for our travel agent who got us our money back, we are sure that without her help we would still be arguing with Scenic.

  5. mistinguett, did you use a travel agent??? if so it is time to contact them and have them go after it for you. Our agent got us our refund mailed to us. I have a feeling that if it was not for her we would still be waiting. Be aggressive and good luck. It is your money, not theirs.

  6. Kirby, do you mean did we get anything extra for them holding our money?? If so the answer is NO.

    At this point we will be relieved to get our expenses back and call it a day. The lesson learned is not to book on Scenic again. They do not seem to value our business and understand what problems they caused for each one of us. Someone on this or another thead posted that they had a cruise cancelled on another line due to a mechanical issue with the ship and they were refunded all costs and offered 50% off any other cruise. That could have served as a model of what to do for Scenic.

  7. we also have received our trip cost refund but not the other items. Our travel agent has been trying to find out when the checks will be mailed but so far has not heard back from Scenic. We will be relieved when all of our money is refunded.

  8. cancun 1, our check was deposited on Monday and so far so good. of course that was just for the cost of the trip since we have not heard about our other costs. Not sure that we will ever see them. Quite upset about all of this. You would think that since this was the fault of Scenic they would do whatever they had to do to get the refunds sent out in a timely fashion to everyone. I guess "customer service" is not their strong suit.

  9. does anyone here think our posts are being read by someone empowers to help us???? the answers are so canned and do not address most of our concerns. Come on Scenic, for a six star luxury line you are not offering six star service and solutions here. Very disappointed.

  10. I agree that 25% off full fare is NOT ENOUGH!!!!!!! they need to entice us to re-book and this does NOT do it. the sailings are all much more expensive then the crossing we had signed up for. We should be able to book something that is at least 25% less per day then we had booked before. We have to arrange air and land for another trip and schedule our lives to fit it in.

    I hope they amend the offer so that we will be interested in sailing with them. that is just my 2 cents worth.

  11. not feeling confident right now. my travel agent phoned Scenic this morning and was told to wait for a call back on how this would be resolved. We have re-deposit fees for our airline miles and sure hope they will be covered. The cost of travel insurance is another cost most of us have incurred. I am not sure Scenic will make any of us Whole. As a customer this is not my fault. It should not cost me. I should be assured by someone that all will be well. Not feeling the love here. Come on Scenic, let us know what you will pay for and make us feel like right now we are a #1 priority for you. You have our money and all we have is a cancelled vacation.

  12. thanks to all of you who have pursued this issue. will look forward to hearing an answer. Have not checked into this board for a while and did not know this was problem. We are really looking forward to the crossing in September and hope Scenic has their act together and all who are traveling have a wonderful time. Has anyone had an answer to the "dress code"? We were hoping that "country club casual" would be fine. Bob likes to wear nice slacks and a good shirt for dinner.

  13. Looking forward to meeting you Cruising Kirby. do you have any idea of the dress code for the eclipse? we just returned from a crossing on the Regent Explorer and enjoyed it very much. This sailing has almost all sea days, will give us a real opportunity to explore and experience the ship. what deck are you on?

  14. having a great time here on the Explorer. The food has been really good and the staff friendly and professional. The few ship sponsored shore excursions we took were fine. We turned in our mid cruise comment card and expressed our delight with the cruise. We did have a few suggestions, the pool (when) open, could be a few degrees warmer. The sound system in the Constellation lounge needs tweaking as there is too much echo making it almost impossible to hear the lyrics. We Loved the show John Barron put on and the show Jerri Sager did was fantastic. we are hoping they will treat us to a show featuring them both some night. We have met so many interesting fellow passengers. The time changes granting us an extra hour are a bonus. Yesterday was Bobs birthday and we came back to our cabin to swan towel art, a big banner hanging over the bed and balloons, al that an an extra hour on the clock, a very happy birthday indeed.

  15. We are here too. Staying at the Santiago De Alfama, it is a fantastic small boutiques hotel that was once a castle. We are on the second floor. While being shown to our room we had to cross a see thru floor that reveals the former staircase of the castle. A bit disconcerting to say the least. But very interesting. The hotel sent a driver to collect us at the airport, and that is a good idea because the hotel is very difficult to find. Our Delta flight was just OK the crew was lazy and talked very loudly interfering in our being able to sleep. Our bags made it just fine. We are heading out to check out the area around the hotel and are eating at the hotel tonight. Tomorrow we head to Sintra with a private guide.

  16. Just so you don't think we are ignoring you. We don't board till Friday, so stay tuned for updates. We are leaving for Lisbon today and will spend 4 days there. Last night I checked the Air France web site and discovered that my carryon which was just fine for my delta flight was overweight for Air France. (we change planes in Paris) so I spent the evening repacking so that I separated out essentials into one bag and am checking the other bag here in Atlanta. I am a checked bag phobic so please may the luggage god shine on us and make sure our bag makes it all the way to Lisbon.

  17. Hi All, We leave tomorrow from Atlanta to Lisbon. Flying thru Paris. We are staying at the Santiago De Alfama While in Lisbon. We cruised a few times 20 years ago and then settled on land trips. This is our second cruise on Regent. We sailed on the Explorer in February and loved the ship and most everything about it. We followed the posts from the crossing last fall and it sounded like something we would enjoy, so here we will be. We look forward to meeting everyone on board and sharing a fantastic sailing with you all. Warmly, Sharon and Bob
