Thank you so much for this information. I am also going to Lisbon in a few months, with RCCL. I wanted to see castles in Sintra, glad to know the Castle in Lisbon is a good choice also.

Alaska is wonderful! It is beautiful and the people are all so wonderful.
As many others have said, Solo is great. Its your vacation, your way and you can be with others or do your own thing.
Sometimes traveling solo I do the group excursions based on location, but Alaska I am content walking around by myself exploring and some adventures that I booked online.
I have taken about 6 cruises solo, then this summer went with Family. Love my family but it was the constant trying to please all with who what when and where.
I just booked Panama Canal - Solo - Nov 12, 2013 ! I am very excited
I booked with RCCL and they did have a good solo rate.
Each and everyone, enjoy each day. See the beauty the world has to offer.

Hi Solo Traveler!
Enjoy the freedom and the flexibility!
Cruises are wonderful for Solo travel as you have options to be with others, or not.
The Cruise Critic Members are always a fun group.
I have always met other people on the ship and shared excursions or Tea Time or when hanging out listening to music you seem to meet people.
Enjoy and join your Roll Call for your Cruise.
Life's to Short to not enjoy each day!

I have traveled about 6 times Solo on Cruises and it has not been a problem. I sort of review the ports and determine if I want to walk it on my own or take a tour.
It has not been a problem. I love the freedom of being able to change my plans and my mind and not disappoint a roommate.
Just returned a few weeks ago from Solo Cruise and met a Mother/Daughter
in line. We did several things together in a few ports. We did not prearrange anything. We just seemed to be at same area at same time. It was a lot of fun.
I was determined to not let life pass me by because of the Solo situation, and not everyone has vacation time or wants to go the same places I do.
Enjoy...Explore and Live your dreams!

I am Paula a soon to be divorced,39 year old. this May will be my first solo cruise. I was apprehensive at first about booking because I had this idea that "solo=looking to hook up"... but after reading some of these posts that assumption hold very little proof. Now I get to visit some sights that are on my bucket list. My fear, like most, is eating alone. Iam looking forward to down time. This trip is to a) hopefully celebrate my divorce and b) present for my big 4-
Hi Paula,
I am Jeanette, 57, solo traveler. You will have an amazing time. Cruising is perfect as you can go be around others or do your own thing. In May I will be taking my 4th solo cruise. It is truly wonderful. I have met many wonderful people on excursions and at meal time. Perfect that you have decided to
get out and live. Since my divorce I have been on 7 cruises and traveling with
friends is nice, but for me I enjoy being able to chart my day as I please
and change my mind and not feel that I am letting others down.
Happy Cruising!

Thank you so much to those that contribute on their experiences. I am traveling there in 2 months and this helped me decide. I enjoy being able to just walk around and enjoy at my own pace, stopping at things that interest me.
Excited to walk off ship and then explore.
Thank you again.
