  1. I am looking for current (summer 2010) passport information. This thread is now down to 2 poster fighting over something and too much to read. Can anyone point to a newer thread or some real info? Yes, I have been on the state dept site. I also called RCCL and although the state dept has that a passport is required there are other ways to go to the caribean. At RCCL I was told that a driver's license and birth certificate or naturalization certificate is sufficient.

    Any help? re-direction?

The State department is the best source of information on travel requirements. See http://travel.state.gov/travel/cbpmc/cbpmc_2223.html, the current requirements are for a Passport card, or a passport book when arriving by land or sea from the Caribbean. If there is a chance you may have to return by air (e.g. you hate the cruise and you want to get off, you get sick and are evacuated, you get stinko drunk and abuse the crew and they put you off) then you'll need a passport book to fly into the US.

  2. Things I preferred on P & O Australia to Carnival:

Tea made from leaves and boiling water

A decent breakfast in the dining room

Afternoon tea in the dining room (not in a bar where there weren't enough seats)

A dedicated wine waiter in the dining room who actually could bring you a bottle of wine.

Theme parties (Line advised what clothes to bring in ticket pack)

Things I prefer on Carnival to P & O Australia

    A decent gym

A well designed lido deck buffet restaurant

    A fridge in the stateroom

    A balcony

    A double bed

  3. Nope. Alive and kicking in Hawaii. He just got promoted to honorary Corporal in the Marines.

    Article from local paper:

Stars and Stripes: Jim Nabors is going up the ranks in the Marine Corps. For five years -- and forever in reruns -- Nabors played Pfc. Gomer Pyle on television.

In 2001, the Corps promoted him to lance corporal. And in a sunset ceremony at Fort DeRussy on Sept. 25, the retired actor gets one more stripe, making him a full corporal.

"I was a private for 38 years, a lance corporal for six," says Nabors. "At this rate, I'm not sure I'll ever make sergeant."

I guess they make exceptions for celebrities.
