  1. I was happy to see RCL found a way to do this. The fact the Jones Act has not been waived for PR is causing serious issues.

They have trouble getting trucks and drivers to the ports as I have understood.

You would be incorrect. The Jones act was temporarily waived (quite needlessly, but It became political)There are tons of cargo just sitting at the ports waiting for trucks to pick them up. The bottleneck is with the lack of truck drivers reporting to work in Puerto Rico.

  2. The crust was gummy, very little sauce, odd cheese texture, and not usually hot.

We have not cruised on RCCL in about 5 years, but, have 2 others booked. Is this the norm for Sorrento's?

    I appreciate any input!

    Thanks!

Sounds like typical Royal "pizza". It is worse than a generic brand frozen pizza, in my opinion.

I am an avid pizza eater and I really wish they would find a way to have good pizza onboard.

  3. I very rarely give anything a "perfect" score on any survey. It has to be something that is way above and beyond my expectations to earn that high of praise.

I expect the servers and staff to do the job that they were hired and trained to do. If they do so then I will give them a 4/5 or a 9/10, depending on the scale.

Having a server beg me for a perfect score would just anger me to the point of a lower score and a complaint to their supervisor.

  4. I've never understood why some people will read a post and then proceed to attack the op. If you don't have anything constructive to offer then do the rest of us a favor and go on to the next thread, we don't need to read your condescension.

To the OP, I hope you get a refund on your excursion and I think you should get some OBC for your troubles. [emoji6]

  5. We've heard other cabin toilets flush on every cruise ship we've ever sailed...that is nothing unique.

Based on that statement and others, it is clear those posts are simply vents or ways/reasons to hear one's self complain. So be it.

In the mean time the rest of us will continue to enjoy our cruises.

We have also always heard the toilets flush on cruises, especially at night when it is more quiet. You can hear toilets flushing in some hotels at night also.

I also hate the door slamming, but I'm not going to let it ruin my cruise. If it becomes an issue then I will complain to guest services.

  6.

I am diamond on Royal and have a lot of cruises under my belt but have been vacationing on different forms for the last 2 years or so and will continue to do that as the value of cruising is definitely gone. By the time you add it all up, it is simply not a 6,000 vacation, no way, no how.

Just spent a week at an all inclusive in Mexico for way less than half as much. Beautiful beach, great food and service. Just a thought for the board.

I agree. In fact, we just reserved our first cruise since 2013 due to the diminishing value of Royal's product.

They have to pay for all of these new ships somehow, I suppose!

I don't really see much value on being a repeat/loyal Royal customer either. They seem to have made a corporate decision that they are going to place their focus on NEW cruisers at the expense of their existing customers.

Cruising had been our first choice of vacations since 2007, but we now look at land based vacations just as much or more-so.

  7. Ahhhh! Too big!

Please order a smaller ship or 2 for those who don't like cruising on shopping malls!

They are going to build the type of ship that offers the most possible ROI. They are also targeting new cruisers. To get new cruisers attention they need new ships that cause a media splash.

Personally, Voyager class is my favorite by far. I wish the Mariner would come back to the US.

  8. Just wanting to tell you that you are a wonderful dad and stepdad. You will be blessed in the end by the joy of raising these children. They are in a safer and better place now.

    Thank you.

We are in the process of buying a larger house to accommodate the expanded family. LOL

  9. We recently had to cancel our August cruise on Navigator because my ex-wife lost custody of my daughter and my former step daughter due to the physical and emotional abuse of my former step daughter (I now have custody). My former step daughter (ex wife's daughter) had nowhere else to go and I didn't want her going to foster homes.

It was past final payment and we were going to be unable to take them with us so we had no choice but to cancel. We did not have cruise insurance but Royal gave us a complete refund (almost $4,000).

Just thought everyone should know. This is just another reason why I only cruise on Royal.

  10. I have a choice of 1688 (deck 10 aft) a D1- 199 sq ft or 7388 (deck 7 aft) a E1- 184 sq ft.

There is a very small difference about $30 in the price between D1 and E1.

1688 is on deck 10 under the Island Grill and 7388 is on deck 7 between decks with cabins only.

We were on the Independence in 7708 (opposite of 7388) and love the huge balcony. Would it be the same size for the balcony on the Navigator?

    We like the shade.

Which would you choose and why?

We have 1388 (opposite side to 1688) on our upcoming Navigator cruise in August. I have heard nothing but great things about it.

  11. I agree, I am of the mindset that people have the right to do whatever they want with regards to their own health AS LONG as it does not affect the health of others.. For example, even though I am not a soda drinker, I was against the proposal to ban larger serving sizes of soda in new york...A person has the responsibility to care for his/her own health..but someone drinking soda does not affect my rights or health.. It has been proven that second hand smoke is almost if not just as dangerous as smoking..I have the right to sit on my balcony, which i paid a premium for, to enjoy FRESH air without breathing in smoke and subjecting myself to toxic fumes... I have no problem with there being certain limited closed off sections for smokers, however, I applaud the trend in the industry that has realized that people have a right to sit on their balcony without breathing in cancer causing fumes...

Agreed. I love the new policy and it is long overdue.

And I will gladly report someone who violates this new policy on a balcony near mine.

  12. I just tried to book a cruise on Independence Of The Seas for next year and I am so D@MN upset.

I had the perfect cabin and price picked out so I went to reserve the cruise. I was so enthused. I entered all the info and hit confirm. The same page (before it gives you a reservation number) came up again except it showed me having a negative balance . I clicked on MyCruises and it gave me the "no C&A info can be retrieved" and "No reservations found" messages. I didn't get an email confirmation, so I know it didn't go through.

Bottom line, it did not make a reservation, but took the cabin and charged by debit card $1,500 (THREE TIMES the amount it was supposed to charge).

Well all the darn changes going on I thought I should book before anything else changed and got screwed.

The best part, I've been on hold for over 90 minutes trying to get a customer svc agent. I'm done. As soon as I get this money back, Norwegian here I come.

Royal is having some major issues lately with customer service. Plus they are nickel and dime-ing everyone to death to help pay for these new ships.

I still love Royal, but my eye is wondering more and more...

  13. Hi everyone, I just went on my third cruise, 2nd time with RC and had a horrible experience. I was shocked and would love to see if someone here in the community was on the same trip and had a similar experience. I am pretty confident that this is going to be my last time working with Royal Caribbean

Explorer of the Seas // Embarkation Date: 02/23/14 // Port of Calls: Port Canaveral, Nassau, Cococay

Here are just some of the incidents:

    1. On our first night, Sun, Feb 23 sometime between 10p and 2a in THE CHAMBER, my friend requested a Michael Jackson song from the DJ. The DJ looked at her and said, “Where the **** did you come from,” as she walked away, I watched as the DJ had a disgusted look on his face. Immediately, I try to bring this to more than one bartenders’ attention and none of them could help and were ill-prepared on how to help a guest in a situation like this.

    2. On the morning of Fri, Feb 28th around 8:30a EST in THE WINDJAMMER at the beverage station located on the port side of the ship towards the front side of the ship a staff member was very rude to me. The person working the station that fills the cups with orange juice, apple juice, water, etc snapped at me. I had a few empty cups and rather than just leave them anywhere, I thought I was doing him a favor by politely putting my used cups in his area so he could easily dispose of them. He snapped at me and said, “DON’T PUT THOSE THERE! THOSE ARE DIRTY!” His delivery was terrible.

    3. Another day in THE WINDJAMMER I was using the ice machine in order to fill up my gym water bottle, a staff member snapped at me and said to stop what I was doing and pointed at a sign that said I wasn’t allowed to refill water bottles. I was completely in the wrong here as I didn’t see the sign but her delivery was terrible and very rude.

    4. Despite Royal Caribbean’s campaign to “Save the Waves,” I noticed that the ships’ decks were littered with empty cups and beer bottles. Items that I had put down nearly 2 hours earlier were still sitting there. I can remember once incident where I took it upon myself to clean up multiple items and put them on the bar, the bartender simply looked at me and had no acknowledgment whatsoever. This was on Thursday, February 27th at THE SKYBAR.

    5. The people sitting at our dinner table were celebrating a birthday one night and the wait staff failed to bring out a birthday cake that was pre-arranged by her mother, instead, it came out 2-days later with her name misspelled.

    6. After taking advantage of the ship’s WIFI service for just 5-short minutes I was shocked to see that I was billed more than $20, thankfully, an individual in guest services helped me by reversing the overages.

To top it off, we were never able to go to Cococay because the weather made tendering to the island unsafe. I understand that this is out of everyone's control but how come they don't have some sort of make-good for these situations? Perhaps go to another island? Comp people's drinks that day? Maybe some cute little apology note in your stateroom with a $10 credit for the gift shop or something?

As has been mentioned, Cococay is missed very often due to rough seas. I have never been there because it was missed due to weather.

The DJ was certainly rude and I would have reported him/her to guest services AND mentioned it on my survey at the end of the cruise.

I don't see a major problem with the other issues, but crew members being "rude" can be subjective as some people are more sensitive than others. Again, if you were offended, you should have gone to guest services and reported it.
