  1. Word of warning with regards to free bags and credit cards.... (NOTE: My experience is not with EZAIR, but it is related info.)

Be sure to read the terms and ask in advance as many of the cards give you "First Checked Bag Free." I was travelling internationally and they give you one free checked bag for that, and I wanted to use my Credit Card affiliated with American Airlines for another free bag but they told me that would not work since my "FIRST" bag was free already! They would not let me double dip... Luckily I check this out in advance and packed accordingly.

The same was true when I flew United on an international flight. First bag was free because it was an international flight. Could not get another bag free because I used my United credit card to book the flight.

  2. Perhaps if the OP gives us a few pieces of info, such as what carrier they currently use, and if their phone is unlocked. Then we can be very specific about their options.

The phone is unlocked. It is currently not being used, so it is not on any network.

Just looking to get a sim card for using the phone in the UK.

  3. I will be in London for several days and then on a British Isles cruise. Looking for recommendation on from which carrier it would be best to get a sim card. Don't foresee receiving or making a lot of calls. While in London will use for making restaurant reservation and possibly checking on museum opening and closing times. Will also use for uber. In ports where we are not on an organized tour, will want to be able to contact others from the ship.

  4. OK, you seem to have a much better grasp on this than I -- how would I go about storing my bags? I really don't want to have to drag them with me, nor do I want to sit at the gate when my flight leaves about 11 PM. I have 20+ cruises with Princess, but have not had to deal with this particular situation. Any advice is welcomed!

We had a similar situation when we disembarked in Vancouver after our Alaska cruise. We had a red-eye flight back to the states. I had read there was a luggage check service either in the cruise terminal or next to it. However, after getting off our ship and finding our way to where you checked your luggage, it wasn't open yet. And wouldn't open for another hour. Another problem it closed about 4:00 pm or you could pay extra to have your luggage sent to the airport. Our solution was to rent a car.

Next to the luggage check service there was a car rental, We rented a car and put our luggage in the car. Leaving the car in its parking place in the garage. Then we went out and saw Vancouver. After having dinner we went back to where the car was parked and drove to the airport. There was drop-off fee for renting the car the cruise terminal and returning it at the airport. The cost to rent the car was less than it would have been to check our bags and have it taken out to the airport.

I like to tell people that I rented a car for the sole purpost of storing my luggage.

  5. We are sailing on the Royal out of Southampton on May 1. Will be staying in London a couple days prior to the cruise. Trying to figure out what time we should plan on getting to Southampton for boarding the ship.

I think they are going to do staggered boarding based on deck, unless you have priority embarkation.

Read somewhere, not sure where, they are going to do staggered boarding based on deck, unless you have priority embarkation. Does anyone know if that is true.

  6.

We took the train into Glasgow on our own from Greenock. Our train ticket came in a combo package with the HoHo bus for the city. We enjoyed the transportation museum (Riverside Museum), Kelvingrove Art Gallery, the Mackintosh House at the Hunterian Gallery (also the nice collection of Impressionist paintings there), and cathedral.

Thanks for the good info. Do all train tickets (Greenock to Glasgow) include HoHo bus? If not where to purchase the combo ticket.

  7. WE were on the Crown four years ago when a large group from Cleveland were doing their annual Super Bowl Cruise. They took over the ship. Shorts in the MDR on formal night and they (staff) let them in. Said there were too many of them and wasn't worth trying. Bottles and glasses in the pools and no one said anything about that either. The group basically did what ever they wanted and no one said a word about it.

just wait until the Browns are in the super bowl

  8. Per the in formation here on CC - "

Should you wish to pre-arrange the Meet & Mingle for your sailing, please contact Princess Cruises Customer Service at 1-800-PRINCESS. Please make sure your efforts are coordinated so that only ONE person contacts Princess Cruises."

I contacted Princess and was told Meet & Mingles for CC groups can not be set up in advance. The only get togethers that can be arranged in advance are for groups that all booked their cruise through the same TA. Then the TA has to make the arrangements. CC groups need to go to the customer service desk once on the ship to arrange a M&M.

Was told information on CC is often inaccurate.

Anyone experience the same when trying to arrange your M&M? If you were successful in setting up your M&M in advance how did you do it?

  9. We are looking for recommendations on getting from the cruise port in Dublin to the Merry Ploughboys Pub. The pub has a shuttle from the city center, or should we arrange for a shuttle from the port to the pub. If we arrange a shuttle from the port what company should we use?

How far is it from the port to city center and what is the best way to get there?

  10. I believe you are on the same cruise as we are. Be certain to notify your bank that you will be traveling to these ports.

We are on the same cruise. For AUD$ there are several ATMs in the international terminal. For NZ$ I contacted our tour company in Dunedin (our first New Zealand port) and was told they could stop at a bank/ATM so we could get cash.

Already took care of notifying the banks.

  11. We have used the Knopf Map Guide book for several cities and found them to be very useful. We wanted one for Sydney to use before our cruise next year. Searching on the internet the book must be out of print because copies of it are starting at $70. I was wondering if anyone has a copy of the book they no longer need and would be willing to sell it?

  12. First of all, I have a question. Is the 1-2-3 still being offered onboard Celebrity ships for onboard booking? I realize that the regular promo ends tonight, but will it remain for onboard bookings?

OK, this scenario is confusing! We will be sailing on a RCCL ship at the end of August. I wanted to make an onboard booking for a Celebrity sailing while onboard the RCCL Oasis.

How would the onboard booking incentive of OBC work when making a booking for another cruiseline? Would we get immediate OBC for the RCCL sailing? Would we receive the 1-2-3?

    Any recent experience?

I believe we are sailing with you on the Equinox this coming Feb. We booked the cruise while on a RCCL ship. Got the 1-2-3 and OBC the same as if we were booking while on a Celebrity ship.

  13. I am having the same issues contacting Mario. No reply to emails. Used him before and had an excellent tour to the Indian Village. Want to use him this time for a tour of Panama City.

  14. I know some of the staterooms are configured witih the bed closer to the balcony and some have the bed closer to the bathroom/door. We booked cabin 1625 on the Equinox for our next cruise. Does someone know if stateroom 1625 is configured with the bed closer to the balcony or to the bathroom?
