  1. I was on the same cruise. This was my fourth cruise and our family had a fabulous week. I agree disembarkation was a mess and I also agree that a porter was well worth the money. I was surprised to read your review of the entertainment. The entertainment, for me, was top notch. With the exception of the last comedian on the last night, our group LOVED all the entertainment. I thought Sonic Eve, the group of three singers, was fabulous!! They were full of energy and I thought they were very talented. Maybe I'm easy to please, I don't know! But entertainment is very subjective and I would hate for people to read your review and think the entertainment on the Liberty is not worth going to. Because it was one of the highlights for me. I encourage people to go to the shows and decide for themselves!
  2. We had cabin 6666 on Oasis. LOVED it!!!! We're cruising on the Allure and tried to get the same cabin, but it was gone. Loved the convenience of near the elevators and easy to get to our fav places to hang out.

Ended up on deck 8 with a cabin close to that. It was quiet and would grab it if I were you!!

I just booked Allure of the Seas for April 2017. Our cabin is 6694. We've never been on this ship. So based on you loving 6666, do you think this is a good cabin? I booked straight through RC and she assured me this was a good location. Do you agree?

  3. Our guide was George and he was awesome! So friendly and knowledgable. We had a great day with him. He took us to a local elementary school where we donated school supplies. This island is very poor and I encourage everyone to stop by and give them a donation. The kids were so cute and the teacher was very appreciative. Monkey Business was the highlight of our day! Loved holding the capuchin monkeys, getting hugged by a spider monkey and holding both parrots and macaws. Very unique experience that we will never forget. George took us to Half Moon Bay for lunch and we had a relaxing lunch by the water. We enjoyed chatting with George as we all enjoyed a fish sandwich. George is a really great guide and he truly made our day in Roatan special. Request him as your guide and you will not be disappointed. Tell him his friends from Massachusetts and Michigan said hi!

  4. We did end up going to the zoo on our cruise last week and it was great! We really loved it. Unfortunately it rained really hard on our way there and for part of our visit. We were not prepared for rain and got soaked! Will include an umbrella in my day pack from now on!! Even with the rain, we sure enjoyed seeing all the animals. Saw many Belize animals that I have not seen before. Especially enjoyed seeing tapirs up close and personal. The zoo is not very big. Only takes a few hours to get through it. A must see if you are an animal lover. You have to do some searching for some of the animals because their habitats are very green and set up like wild habitats. So great for the animals! Go if you get a chance!

  5. We just returned from our cruise on Liberty of the Seas. We had a tour with Reggie's Tours in Belize. Allen was our tour guide and he was fabulous. He took us to the Altun Ha Mayan ruins and the Belize Zoo. Both were really great. The boys can climb on the ruins and he was very knowledgable about the history there. The zoo is unlike any I've seen in the states. Beautiful and features animals that all live in Belize. Very unique and animals were all in habitats that look like the wild. We were all very impressed. If you are animal lovers;) then it's a great zoo. My 14 year old son loved it and that age boy is not always easy to please!!;) Check out Reggie's Tours. I would highly recommend Allen as a guide. We had a great day there. Hope this helps!

  6. We are booked with Victor Bodden next month. Chose the Best of Roatan tour and added on seeing the monkeys and going on the glass bottom boat tour. Has anyone been on that boat tour? Wondering if it's worth the $35 extra per person. My mom doesn't swim so although snorkeling sounds fun to me, we can't do that. I'm excited to visit with the monkeys. I know I will love that! Other than snorkeling, I'm curious what people liked seeing or doing in Roatan the best.

  7. We just flew in to IAH and took a one way car rental from Enterprise - stayed the night at Country Inn and Suites (hotel dot com) - dropped luggage at the port in the AM, returned the car (Galveston) and took a cab to the pier - took Galveston Express back to IAH at disembarkation -

I just booked a room at the Country Inn and Suites for the night before our cruise in February. I was wondering if there are restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. We won't have a car so I'm hoping we can walk somewhere for dinner.

  8. Okay, I've booked Galveston Express to get us to the hotel from the airport. I've booked a hotel in Galveston that has a shuttle to the ship. Two big decisions finally made! One last dilemma. The Liberty of the Seas comes into Galveston at 6:30 in the morning. My son and I don't fly out of Hobby until 6:30 that evening! Other than early morning flights...that's all that was available. So what do we do all day? I sure hate to think we'd sit in the airport all day, but without a car we are certainly limited. Has anyone else dealt with this before? Any suggestions?

  9. We have 5 people in our party. Two groups meeting up in Houston. My son and I coming in from Massachusetts and my parents and brother coming in from Michigan. That's the other challenge. We won't be arriving at the airport at the same time. I looked into renting a car, but seems like we would need a van in order to accommodate our group and luggage. That's an expensive vehicle to rent and have sit for the week. So I don't think that works for us. I checked Galveston Express's website and they are definitely an option.

  10. This will be my fourth cruise, but my first time going out of Galveston. I'm finding transportation confusing. We are flying into IAH the day before our cruise. I'm not sure if it is better to stay in Houston or stay closer to the port in Galveston. My flight comes into IAH at 3:00 p.m. Seems like the Galveston area is more expensive, but most hotels are on the beach. The beach sounds better than staying near the the airport in Houston! The question is, if we stay in Galveston then how do we get there? And then once we get to the hotel, how do we get to the port the next morning? My first plan was to stay in Houston near the airport and use the hotel shuttle. Then shuttle back to the airport the next morning and take a RCI shuttle to the port. Can anyone help? Is one way easier than another? Can anyone help?

  11. I finally bought my plane tickets for my February cruise on the Liberty of the Seas. I kept waiting, but prices just kept going up! Chose a flight that comes into IAH about 3:00. I'm looking for a hotel near the airport that has a shuttle. Plan is to take the hotel shuttle back to the airport in the morning and taking the Royal Caribbean shuttle to Galveston. First of all, for those of you that have cruised out of Galveston, is that a good plan? Having always cruised out of Florida, this is all new to me! Also, since we will be arriving in the afternoon I need a hotel that either has a restaurant or has food within walking distance for dinner. I'd just as soon have fast food to walk to if possible. I see there are lots of hotels near the airport. Can anyone recommend one that is decent and close to food? We tend to stay at Hampton Inn. Is the Hampton Inn within walking distance of any restaurants? Lots of questions here!! Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!

  12. 1. One thing I brought on my last cruise that I will do again is bring my own pump style soap for the bathroom. Frequent hand washing is a must and I'm not a fan of bar soap (which is what they provide). I loved having liquid soap like I'm used to at home. Just a personal preference.

    2. I wondered about needing the over the door hanger too and decided against it. Like someone else said, if you have more than two people in the room then maybe it would come in handy, but for two people it's really not necessary.

    3. I personally am a lanyard person. Dorky or not, I always know where my card is and it works for me. I would worry about losing it otherwise.

  13. Different strokes for different folks! I was on the Oasis (my third cruise) last February with my mom and two cousins. We just had the best time! I thought the Oasis was just awesome in every way!! I loved all the neighborhoods, different food choices, the endless choices of things to do and I thought the nightly entertainment was just top notch! Our only disappointment the whole week was when we had to get off!! I'm planning my next cruise for next year on the Liberty. I'm worried about going back down to a smaller ship! I just thought Oasis was incredible! But as I said...to each is own!
