  1. Hi, I’m the OP. WOW!  I never expected such a great response that everyone has given. It was fascinating to read all the various thoughts on something like this.  So, after much deliberation and serious thought I have finally made my decision as to what to do as our cruise leaves this Sunday. Hoss, (Mike) will NOT  be wearing shorts on casual nights. But I’ll probably be wearing them everywhere else on the ship. Thanks for all the insight and laughs. Lord knows we need some diversion after everything we have been going through.

  2. Hi:  It’s been over 10 years since our last Princess cruise and I have a question. Are shorts for men an accepted attire in the MDR on casual nights? If they are do many men wear them, or are shorts few and far between. Recently we have cruised on Carnival and it seems close to 50% wear shorts on casual nights. Thanks for you input.

  3. Hi:  Have not been on Princess in 12 years and have 2 questions. We have been on many Carnival cruises and the last few there have been less then half the people dressing up on formal night. For men is dress pants and collared shirts okay or is jacket and tie the norm. Also, could someone tell us what is available at the International cafe. Are there certain things free and others with a charge?  Thanks for your help. This is on the Caribbean Princess this coming March 6.

  4. Hi:  We will be at the Roadway Inn at 2440 W. State Rd 84. We need the rapid Antigen test one March 4th or 5th. Have tried to locate the places closest to us but we get conflicting answers as to whether or not they are available. We will not have a car do will use a cab to where we need to go. Could someone please tell us what the closest available places are that are close to where we are staying? Thanks very much, we are old and this is stressing us out.

You are spending 3 days in Titusville pre-cruise without a vehicle? I am not sure of what you are looking to do for those days, but being without a vehicle will get expensive to entertain yourselves. A Quality Inn does not speak volumes about amenities at the motel. It is usually just a bed, shower, and bathroom.

You are right Boozin about the hotel. We have been there before Not many frills but they have a free breakfast and a nice pool. With car rentals going over 400 for 3 days we are content to chill out by the pool. That’s why we are looking for car service to get to the hotel. Even paying for a taxi or Uber to the port it will be a fraction of the cost compared to renting a car. Carnival Magic is calling our name, and as your name suggests, the Cheers package awaits.

  6. Hi:  We are cruising out of Port Canaveral and will be staying at a Quality Inn in Titusville. The one way car rentals are in the hundreds of dollars for the three days we will be there. Can anyone please give us suggestions as to which companies we can contact that could give us reasonable rates for the ride. We have always had one way car rentals but it seems a car service is the way to go.  Thanks for your help in finding a reasonable reliable company.

We're cruising on October 23 out of Galveston. I was stressing about the test - my doctor said we could get it at his office, but it was the PRC test that would take 1-2 days for results. I'm not willing to risk that. Friends who cruised 2 weeks ago said they got rapid antigen tests at a minor emergency clinic. So I called one in our rather small town, they said they do the rapid antigen test, you get the results in about 20 minutes, don't need an appointment. I feel sure Titusville is a much larger town and probably has multiple minor emergency clinics. Google them, then call one to check out their procedures. Good luck!

Thank You all for the helpful information. It seems as though nlktx49 hit a home run for us. Med fast urgent care has 3 offices in Titusville. I just spoke to someone there now and they have the rapid test with results in 15-20 minutes which they print out for you. She said there is no appointment necessary, but you could schedule one2 days before the test if you want. So my Texas friend you just lowered our stress level 100%.

Ahh, see I selected the rapid test and nothing in Titusville came up.  So Orlando might be the closest CVS for the rapid.

I am the OP and when I searched the closest that came up was Orlando as you stated. DivaAAC said that the reason it may not be showing as available is they are booked for certain dates. We are senior citizens and this stuff is not our forte, so thanks everyone for your help so far but we still don’t know which way is up.🙁

  9. Hi:  We need some help finding a place to get the Carnival required rapid test. We are flying in next month on a Thursday morning for a Saturday cruise on the magic. We are staying in Titusville for 2 days before the cruise. I have gone online to the CVS, Walgreens, and Quest websites and unless I am doing something wrong, I don’t see anyplace nearby that gives the test. Could any readers with knowledge of the Port Canaveral cruise area please advise us where we can take the test in this general area. Thanks in advance for your help as this is really starting to stress us out. Mike

  10. Thank you for the review and the activities paper very informative. I have a question for you. We are on the May 5th 12 day repositioning cruise. We have MYD and we’re trying to figure dining time based on the showtimes.  I see that lyric shows were at 7 &9 except day 2 which were later. First time on RCL so we were wondering if we should base our dining time on shows being held at 7 & 9. Thanks for your help.

  11. Hi:  We are going on the Gem next week, and being new to NCL I have a question. I was told that the Grand Pacific dining room is open for lunch on embarkation day though they try to head you to the buffet. Is the dining room open for lunch on either sea days, or port days or both. We try to avoid the buffet whenever possible. Thanks.

  12. Hi:  We will be in Antiqua early December on our NCL Gem cruise.  We are seniors with some mobility issues.  We are looking for a beach, if there is one, that is easy to get in and out of the water. I know most beaches have drop off near the shore, but are ther any relatively easy to get in and out off.  Your experiences are much appreciated.

  13. Hi: Does anyone know if the LA Quinta Inn & Suites on Cypress Creek Rd. In Fort Lauderdale offers shuttle service from the airport to the hotel, and from the hotel to the Port Everglades cruise port? if there are fees involved or if they are complimentary. This will help me decide if I need to rent a car for 2 days days. Reason I am asking is I gave gotten 3 different answers to this question. Thanks.

  14. Hi: Posted a similar thread on the St. Martin site. We will be in St. Kitts in about a week sailing on the carnival valor. We are seniors looking for a nice beach day. We need a beach where it is easy access to get in and out of the water. Those drops at the shoreline getting in and out are real trouble for us. So we would appreciate any suggestions you may have for a beach with this type of entry and also which rents chairs and umbrellas. Thanks very much for your help. Mike

  15. Hi: We will be in St. Martin in the Carnival Valor in 10 days. We would like to have a nice beach day. We are seniors with limited mobility. We need a beach where it is as easy as possible to get in and out of the water. Those drops right at the shoreline are difficult for us to climb out. What beach would you suggest we go to that would have chairs and umbrellas as well as good beach access for us. Thanks for your help. Mike

  16. Hi: I dont think the Valor is getting the American Table this year. He stated last month they were not getting it. One hour ago he said he has gotten conflicting answers from different people so he was calling the ship direct, and would post when he finds out. The main reason I dont think they will get it, is because they would need either new tables or table tops to proceed with the mostly non table cloth dinners. I dont think they received these in the dry dock. At any rate, we should no soon enough. We are on the 9/9/16 cruise. After having had both menus, we hope we get the old ones. Personal choice, but we like them better then the american Table.

  17. Hi: Posted a question yesterday about what did Carnival do with the Lido aft area that formerly housed the grill. Now that Guy's was put in during the dry dock. Two posters replied that it sits empty now. With the Conquest closing down the fish & chips and installing the new seafood place for additional charge, I wonder if that is what is in store for the Valor. We will be on her in September. and I wonder if fish & chips will be gone.

  18. According to John Heald the Valor will not be getting the American Table in the near future. New tabletops are need to incorporate the new menu as the only time table cloths are used is on elegant nights. In its recent dry dock I dont believe the Valor had these installed. So it might be quite a while. I will be on the Valor 9/9/16 and having experienced both menus, I am glad they have the old one.
