  1. From zero to Gold it is 4300 points, from Gold to Black it is 5700 points. That also makes clear why Classic offers nothing, Silver almost nothing and Gold a tiny little bit

But if everything is going well I will reach Black in 2025

    Great info perak [emoji3]

  2. This is our first MSC cruise. Believe it or not, I'll only be 14 points away from diamond by the time I go on preziosa . The crown & anchor thing was only a " cruise booking " question asked by my travel agent when I booked in April this year. And I and my partner have gone up a tier since we booked.

  3. Have you checked out the 'Gold' benefits from the link I posted, and, if so, are they similar?

    Hi there.

Yes, the gold benefits are very similar.

Thank you for your help and interest in my enquiries.

You are full of great info [emoji4]

  4. I would not match to anything else than Black and wait for later chances to match. The benefits for silver and gold are so limitied.
But one wouldn't know unless one asked .

I've never been on MSC before, and someone told me you get similar benefits, that's all.

  5. It depends on the region - US$ is the currency on US-based ships; Euros on practically every other itinerary.

Well our first cruise is on preziosa on the 19th of March 2019.

We're cruising the Caribbean ...... (Ann's first Caribbean) so didn't want to take anything else but dollars lol [emoji16]

  6. I was wondering if tipping is customary when you drop off your luggage at the YC entrance. Who actually takes possession of your luggage? I know that for other cruises, the porters at the dock expect tips when you drop off your bags, and some people feel that it is sort of bribery to ensure your luggage is handled properly.. Any thoughts?

    Tip the porters ?

Are you having a laugh ?

  7. I suppose at the end of the day , it's like laundry rooms and not being allowed to bring an iron On board ......... giving an excuse about fire, When it's just about money. Getting rid of public spaces on ships to make way for cabins and restaurants, it's about money. Not staying at ports long enough ...... money.

    Word up faceless friends.

  8. Just let it go....all your whining is not going to change a thing!

Obvioulsy they think they can make more money getting Brits drunk - than Yanks....so be it! (y)

It's not just me whining, it's a hell of a lot of people .

But I love it when I get a backlash from loads of faceless people [emoji8]

  9. I don't know only RCI can answer your question.

I guess I must be unlucky because I have had to queue for drinks, no matter the length of the cruise.

Really ? That's dreadful ....... Do they have less bar staff and waiters on in Australia then ?

  10. The actual reason they gave was ........

People complained about the time it took queueing for drinks at the bar. In all my years cruising with Royal Caribbean , I have never had a problem getting a drink on a short cruise.

Yet it's still being offered on American ships.

    That seems discriminatory to me.

I would think it's because they don't make money on them on the short UK cruises. Too well used !! I think with RC it's all about the bottom line. Maybe it will go change to no DP on the short cruises everywhere on their network soon .....

And the Dollar is the bottom line.

I have one more short cruise booked, then I'm going to go back to P&O for my shorties. The drinks are just pub prices, they have adult only ships and the sailaways are legendary.

  11. An Australian perspctive - I went on a 3 nighter from Sydney in February. I had the deluxe package as I usually do and the lines were crazy! Genuinely much longer waits than on the 7+ night cruises. I think pretty much every adult on that ship had a package, and many were drinking hard (because most people can for 3 days yeah).

So I could see people complaining about that. I think Aussies and Brits have a different drinking culture than Americans do, but not sure why they have stopped it in UK but not here. Mind you, they were selling deluxe for USD82 onboard so maybe they felt they still made enough profit.

Hi bek, the queues on the Royal ships out of the U.K. Were never crazy, I'd never seen any trouble on board and the only reason people had trouble getting to the bar, was because the stools are fixed to the deck (so if you try to get between 2 fellas with big elbows, you're bugggered ).

They usually have more trouble on P&O ships , and they "don't " offer drinks packages.
