  1. The price of my 4 day Inspiration cruise in March dropped $120 (for 2) since final payment was due. Booked military rate not early saver.  I guess I am out of luck.  Booking is a form of gambling.  Book early saver, you can get credit for price drops, but if you cancel you will lose.  Book a regular rate and the price drops after final payment, you get nothing, but could have cancel early if needed.

I am new to Carnival, Is the above correct?

An earlier post said if the price drops after final you can try calling and they might be "nice" and give you some credit?

Because they'll get the money back anyway, especially if its moved to OBC. People spend OBC like monopoly money and they don't feel pain when doing it because it can't leave the ship. Also, if you spend $1,000 on your cruise and get $200 refunded, even as real money, you probably push it right back into the cruise fund because you had already planned on spending it.

The direct refund offer was surprising, but I can fully understand why it is too their advantage to not get into a fight over $200 they can play right back into their pocket anyway. Their profit is not made on the rooms, it's made by getting you on board to have a good time and forget about the true value of money on land.

I was confused because this is similar to price protection for early saver fares.  People who book early saver put down a non- refundable deposit.  Other fares have a fully refundable deposit but if the price drops after final payment they are out of luck (or so I thought).  What would be the point of risking your deposit with early saver if you can just call and and get a credit / refund for a price drop?

The price for my next cruise has dropped after final payment.  I guess I will call and hope they are nice to me? 🤞

OH!  I forget. I bought the 3 wine package; which was 100% cheaper to have bought the 3 bottles I drank on their own and not as part of the package.  As you can see, I'm winning with these packages.

100% savings?  Looking at photos of the wine package deal and the wine list, I calculated about a 20% savings.  I am interest in this package.  Do you have more specific info/numbers?

  4. Used Uber for the first time from MIA area to the Miami cruise port. Driver took a slightly longer route than he should have. When I tried to tell him, I found out he did not speak ANY English! He had no idea what we were saying to him and he responded only in Spanish.

Make sure your account is set up and activated before you go. Ask for a ride on the app and they will come. Took about 5 minutes.

  5. Went to Blue Kay off the Celebrity Equinox a few weeks ago. Getting to the taxis was not fun. Hot, crowded and no signs telling you how to get out. I researched ahead of time and still struggled to get escape.

Took taxi $2 pp to Blue Kay. Walked to the beach, asked for 2 cushions which were placed on the wooden loungers closest to the water and next to the adjacent beach club. Never was asked for $ and did not offer.

Only saw a one waiter in the 4 hours we were there and they never asked if we wanted something.

I walked to the closest bar and bought a couple sodas at $3 each. Not sure if this bar was run by Blue Kay or not.

Seemed like a nice place and definitely less crowded and more relaxed than the main Malecon beaches.

Seems like they are not very profit driven like a place such as Paradise Beach in Cozumel.

    Questions?

  6. On the Equinox March 24th cruise, first sea day, at 9am 99.9% of all deck chairs /loungers were taken or chooged.

We got lucky and got 2 loungers on the Solstice deck which only had folded towels on them.

For hours there was a constant stream of people walking by unsuccessfully looking for a place to sit.

Of course chair hogs are partly to blame, but also ship design and lack of loungers. There was open deck space but not enough chairs.

Otherwise the ship and cruise were completely awesome.

  7. Embarkation day was okay ....the first sea day was the worse I ever seen for chair hogs. I'm not kidding when I say at 8:30 a.m. EVERY chair had been saved - this includes the top deck AND the deck two floors above the pool. Never seen anything like it! Two arguments broke out on the top deck over saved chairs and missing items later found in the bin. I kick myself for not taking a picture....it was insane!!!!!!!!!!!

We second this. At 9 EVERY chair taken. We stumbled on 2 loungers on the Solstice deck which only had folded towels and took them. We were lucky. For hours there were people walking around looking for a place to sit. Part of the problem were choogs but also there just were not enough seats even though there was enough deck space.

Overall it was a great cruise. The Equinox is extremely well managed with very friendly, non stressed employees.

  8. Uber has the drivers follow the route guidance of their GPS system, which uses WAZE to figure in current traffic conditions. If you direct the driver to follow a different route, expect to possibly pay a different/higher rate.

It was absolutely a longer wrong route. Took us through downtown during the packed Ultra music festival instead of the open low traffic tunnel. Goggle maps recommended the tunnel route. The driver spoke ZERO English. Did not even understand the letter G for terminal G.

  9. Took Uber on the 24th from the airport area to the POM. Driver took us through downtown instead of the tunnel, tried to correct him but he ignored us. This probably because he did not speak ANY English. He had no idea what we saying. Unacceptable.

  10. That is not correct as I’ve been told if the drink is $12 you will be charged $12 only premium package pay any additional difference ie $15 drink you will be charged +$3

This changed over a year ago. Why are you telling people bad information?

  11. Thanks for the comparison. I thought the ship experiences from both lines went on were similar.

Biggest difference - The shower in the standard Princess cabin was really, really small. It was uncomfortable constantly hitting my elbows on the fixtures. Whoever designed and approved these should be fired. OK size on Celebrity.

Also, I thought the theater (Golden Princess) was a bad design. Low Ceiling, cramped, dark and gloomy. Celebrity has nicely designed theaters.

  12. Here is a chart which outlines what kind of drinks you can possibly get with each package. I hope this helps.

    From the Celebrity website https://www.celebritycruises.com/things-to-do-onboard/onboard-packages/beverage-packages/premium-classic-and-standard

    Classic Package:

    "NON-ALCOHOLIC

    Can and fountain soda selections"

Are cans of soda included with the Classic? The Flyer you attached says no.
