I am making some calls tomorrow and will update.  I agree that we need to know one way or the other at this point; both time and money are involved.  Silversea does have a lot to deal with: DAWN, WHISPER and SPIRIT all need to move from Europe (Athens) to the Indian Ocean; decisions need to be made - will all 3 of these ships travel from Athens and around Africa empty to pick up their planned schedules??  Is there any real choice?

Passengers who had cruises cancelled for similar reasons last year/earlier this year had all monies paid to date re the cancelled cruise refunded, pre/post arrangements booked via Silversea credited, were reimbursed for non-refundable costs (up to $500.00 p/p but rumor has it that this amount was negotiable) and received a 20% credit against any newly booked cruise - the thing is that fares have increased since we booked our 04 December DAWN cruise (we booked port to port last February and utilized the port to port prepaid promotion) so, even if this type of deal is offered to us, we will be lucky to come out even when using the 20% credit.  Yes, I am being serious.

It seems that the Whisper 04 Dec Mumbai to Singapore 18 day cruise will be operated as planned; I am curious to see how Silversea handles this, ie, will DAWN pax be rebooked onto the WHISPER with some minor incentive?  As stated above, we selected the DAWN because we preferred the larger/newer vessel.  (We have about 30 cruises on Silversea and been on all ships except Dawn and Endeavour.)  As we have overseas airline flights booked and paid (expensive), India domestic flights booked and paid, 8 days and 7 nights of touring/hotels in India confirmed and partially paid for, plus even arrangements in Singapore locked in and paid, all of which we booked independently, I guess we will do the WHISPER if that is what is offered to us (with some incentives.)

    Stay tuned.

Thanks for your reply. We booked this voyage way back when it was Doha to Singapore.   Prices have almost doubled since we booked two years ago. We reserved the 3 night pre-cruise to the Taj Mahal,  so our business class flights are booked and paid into Delhi.

We are also loyal Silversea guests with over 250 days to date.  Hope to have news soon.  Would be nice to make your acquaintance.

    Enjoy your evening,

    S.

Silver Dawn - 17 November cruise will cancel.  And, our 4 December cruise will cancel.

Silver Whisper - 7 November and 17 November cruises will cancel.  Silver Whisper will have a ten day head start out of Athens when compared to the Dawn.

Silver Whisper will thus have more time to get to Mumbai - 27/28 days and they will need every moment.

Silver Dawn will head directly to Singapore - they have 35/36 days and they will again need every moment.

    Good evening,

Any news or official updates regarding our December 4-22 Mumbai to Singapore voyage.  Hope to hear from SS soon if cancelled.

Please let us know if you hear anything,

    Thanks.

  3. Good evening Silver Spectre!

Great meeting you onboard the Silver Wind. We enjoyed our cruise very much. We thought the food was outstanding. Chef Ross did an awesome job. Our dinner in La Champagne was 5 star from service, food and presentation.

Yes, we did have a small problem with the AC but it was unbearable for us and it was only for a couple of nights. Crew was amazing as always on Silversea. It's the amazing, warm, welcoming crew that keep us coming back to Silversea again and again.

Look forward to hearing from you soon to chat about your upcoming Silversea voyage to the Philippines. As you know, we did it last year and LOVED it especially Puerto Princessa and Coron.

Best to you and Mrs. Silver Spectre.

    Regards,

  4. Good evening MJN1, as you know we are also sailing on the same voyage which seems to be sold out already. My partner Jay is filipino and has strongly suggested a few excursions "musts do" that we are going to reserve through Silverseas. I will list his "must do" list soon. One is in Manila, one is in Coron and one is in Puerto Princessa.

We have now booked our hotel in Singapore. Decided to stay at the Fairmont Singapore since it's located near the famous Raffles and not too far from Bugis Street. We've been wanting to discover this area of Singapore. We are spending 10 days before the cruise in the Philippines including 5 Nights at El Nido Resort in Palawan and 5 nights in Makati.

    Can't wait.

  5. The increased the fares on my Singapore/Hong Kong cruise by almost $2000 pp for these so called "freebies." SS is copying Regent here and it's a huge mistake imo. Thank God I booked before these inclusions.

    Henry and MJN1,

We booked long before this all inclusive offer came into the picture. Thank God. There are many shore excursions that interest us and are a "MUST" in the Philippines but none of them are included with the "free" excursions in the all inclusive fares. So, it wouldn't have been beneficial to us at all.

We look forward to Voyage 3605. Looks like it's filling up quickly, many of the suite categories are "waitlist" already.

    Bon Voyage!

  6. Good afternoon Sweetpea,

Which voyage are you sailing? We are sailing on Voyage 3605 that ends in HK too. Singapore to HK. We have to be out of our suite by 8:30 am. They like everyone off the ship by 10 am at the latest. They need to prepare the suites for the next guests embarking.

    Regards,

  7. 2nd set

Hi MJN1, I don't think we've ever met. My name is Scott and I'm from Toronto. I noticed you're booked on Voyage 3605 February 2016 Singapore to Hong Kong with 4 stops in the Philippines. My partner and I look forward to meeting you in February.

    Best regards,

  8. Good evening all. We are also sailing on voyage 4433. This will be our 18th Silversea voyage. Once you've tried it, you'll have a hard time sailing anyone else.

Look forward to meeting you onboard. Have you signed up for the Meet & Mingle?

  9. Good afternoon Dieter,

Hope you and Debbie are well. One of these days we'll meet up again on a Silversea voyage. When you see Jorge, could you please ask him if he'll be onboard the Whisper on December 12th? Would be wonderful to see him again.

    With sincere thanks,

    ScottToronto

  10. Victoria, you won't regret it. I would email and ask. Happy to hear youre on the voyage where you'll see Andrea Bocelli. Wish Jay and I could join you and Bob.

  11. Good evening,

As many have recommended Romecabs is the BEST! Amazing drivers, service, clean modern vehicles.....last time they offered us a bottle of wine to say "welcome to Roma".

As for hotels, we stayed at the Albergo del Senato. It's near Piazza Navona.....Duct Tape's favourite area of Roma. Highly recommend it for value, service and location.

Enjoy the magical city of romance. I'm so jealous!

  12. Just wondering what the criteria for receiving the invitation were. Obviously 350+ VS days do not cut the mustard here in the UK.

    Good afternoon,

I have almost 200 days and didn't receive the email regarding this exciting voyage. How does one get on the list to receive information on such a marvellous opportunity?

If you hear, please let us know.

    Thanks,

    ScottToronto

  13. Good afternoon,

Voyage 2535 is back on the Silversea website. It was an 11 day voyage and now is a 7 day voyage. San Juan to Fort Lauderdale. I understand this happened due to a charter of Voyage 2533. This caused a domino effect and change both voyages 2534 and 2535.

I think we'll stay on 2535, prices are amazing. Vistas start at 2150.00 plus it's a VS sailing.

    Anyone planning to join us.

  14. Good evening CC friends,

We are booked on the Whisper December 12th, departing Barbados. We are lucky because Air Canada has direct flights from Toronto to Bridgetown. Flights times are great too. Leave at 8:45 am (Toronto time) and arrive at 2:45 pm (Barbados time). Just in time to check in at the Hilton Barbados.

Lisa, wish you and David were joining us. See you onboard DogLover45 and johnnycruise.

    Best,

    ScottToronto

  15. Good afternoon,

Ref: Voyage 2535. Fort Lauderdale to Fort Lauderdale, December 2015, 11 days.

Voyage 2535 has disappeared off the Silversea website. I called Silversea and was told there is an itinerary change. I have a feeling the voyage might have been chartered.

    Has anyone heard anything?

    Thanks,

    ScottToronto

  16. Hope you enjoyed the 4 Seasons. The location is fantastic.

    Victoria,

We love the Four Seasons Sultanahmet. I stayed there about 15 years ago and it's just as amazing as before. Location is the best! Concierge are outstanding. I don't think I'd stay anywhere else.

Best regards to you and Bob,

  17. Good evening fellow CC members,

We just returned from a marvelous 11 day voyage from Monte Carlo to Istanbul on the Silver Wind. We stayed in Istanbul for 2 additional nights at the beautiful Four Seasons Sultanahmet.

While staying in Istanbul we booked a 90 minute Turkish Bath Experience. WOW! The Four Seasons Concierge booked it for us and they highly recommended the Ayasofya Hurrem Sultan Hamami. A 3 minute walk from the Four Seasons. Just for the architecture it was worth the cost, for approx. 120 euros we experienced the following:

    Scrub down

    Exfoliation

    Mud wrap

    Massage

    Scalp treatment

    Bubble massage

    and full oil massage.

Fresh juices were served half way through the treatments.

It was an experience of a lifetime and I would highly recommend it. The Hamami built in 1556 and recently had a multi million dollar renovation. The facilities were immaculate.

You can check it out online at http://www.ayasofyahamami.com

    Enjoy!

  18. Herman,

Do you happen to know when the contract with 'Artists of Silversea' is ending?

We are joining the Wind next month and I hope that they will still be on board.

I agree with you - they provide good entertainment and are very personable young people.

Gollane - who was the Cruise Director on your cruise?

The Cruise Director was Mike Witte but as of May 5th Colin Brown has returned from vacation. As much as we enjoyed meeting Mike, Colin is one of the best at Silversea. He is very professional and also a concert pianist.

Hope you enjoy the Wind as much as we did.

    Bon Voyage!

  19. Even though I said I miss the old SS and she ain't what she used to be a SS cruise is still a great experience. Hell, I ain't what I used to be either!

    Hi Henry,

I remember our first cruise with Silversea many years ago. West Palm Beach to Barbados. Included air, hotel for 1 night at the Ritz Carlton Palm Beach, private limo to the hotel and then to the ship......but the prices were much higher than now........20 years later.

    Well said Henry!

    Best to you always,

    ScottToronto
