  1. The biggest factor for the OP is to see how operational MCO will be on Saturday. Airlines don't want their planes at an airport when a hurricane comes thru. I have a flight out of MCO Saturday afternoon and I have a feeling the flight will be cancelled - keeping a watch on the airline's website.

To the OP - keep checking your airline's website to see if your flight will be leaving when it's supposed to. Or if the airline allows a no charge change see if you can come in a day earlier.

  2. Remember, this is Royal Caribbean, where confusing and ambiguous wording is the norm.;)

I'm finding that out, this is our first RC cruise.

    They inspect for tampering.

They do the "shake test". Water and alcohol react differently to being shaken.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

I understand the reasoning for the inspection, but it says you can't take non-alcoholic beverages and that's the reason for my question.

  3. This baffles me on how this is worded. If you can't take on non-alcoholic beverages why/how may they inspect water bottles or soda bottles?

Guests are not allowed to bring beer, hard liquor or non-alcoholic beverages onboard for consumption or any other use.

Guests may bring personal wine and champagne onboard only on boarding day, limited to two (2) 750 ml bottles per stateroom. Additional bottles of wine beyond two (2) bottles that are brought onboard or any alcoholic beverages purchased in ports-of-call or from Shops On Board will be stored by the ship and delivered to your stateroom on the last day of the sailing. Alcoholic beverages seized on embarkation day will not be returned. Security may inspect containers (water bottles, soda bottles, mouthwash, luggage etc.) and will dispose of containers holding alcohol. Guests who violate any alcohol policies, (over consume, provide alcohol to people under age 21, demonstrate irresponsible behavior, or attempt to conceal alcoholic items at security and or luggage check points or any other time), may be disembarked or not allowed to board, at their own expense, in accordance with our Guest Conduct Policy. Guests who are under the permitted drinking age will not have alcohol returned to them. Please Note: All guests must comply with TSA guidelines for transporting liquids.

Guests are allowed to bring two additional 750 ml bottles of wine or champagne per stateroom, for each individual sailing, when sailing on consecutive cruises. Additional bottles beyond two, will be stored by the ship and delivered, two bottles at a time, to the stateroom on the first day of each new voyage. Guests bringing four bottles at the start of the first sailing should have documentation for both sailings available to share with security.

  4. It is not an all day tour. We did this in Dec and it was great. It started around 8:30 and we walked over the Chain Bridge to the Buda side, rode the funicular (Viking paid for the tickets) to the top of the Buda side, walked to the church and had a tour of the church. Then we took the bus (again, Viking paid for the tickets) down to town on the Pest side. We had a slow walk to the Great Market Hall where we had free to shop, eat a bite or just wander for about an hour. Then we gathered again, walked to the tram and rode back to the boat (Viking bought tram tickets for us). They brought us back around lunch time.

This is a great tour and we saw a lot. My husband and I wanted to return to

the market so after lunch we took the tram back, shopped and then walked back through the pedestrian zone to the boat. The Christmas Markets were in full swing so we spent quite a bit of time there before returning to the boat.

IMHO if this is your first time just skip the baths and enjoy Budapest.

Now I'm very sad that I had to miss this tour on our cruise last month, it sounds wonderful. I was really looking forward to it.

  5. I'm on the countdown to my first Viking river cruise that ends up in Amsterdam (on Christmas Eve!). I've taken a deviation on the "included" air (so I can hop over to the UK for a Christmas family visit before making my way back to Canada) so presume that the transfer from the ship to Schiphol airport will be my own responsibility.

If I have to purchase the airport transfer separately from Viking, does anyone know the cost, and how that would compare to a taxi or any other option?

    Thanks in advance!

Did you do the air deviation or the air stopover? If you did the stopover then the transfers will be included from the ship to the airport. This is what my TA relayed to us when she was setting up our air for this coming week. We are doing a stopover in Zurich before going to Munich where we will have the included transers to Passau.

  6. Free parking for accessible vehicles? My parents SUV uses a ramp for my mothers electric wheelchair. She had a catastrophic stroke 15 years ago and lost use of her hand, arm and leg. She can drag her leg for very very short distances. But she is amazing and worked so hard to come back to us. I am so proud of her.

Would you happen to know who we speak to about the free parking?

Last week I went ahead and booked the Radisson. At this late date everything was full and even though we won't be using the park and cruise its familiar.

Thank you for all of your responses!!!

    From the Port Canaveral website

    https://www.portcanaveral.com/Cruise/Directions-Parking

DISABLED PARKING spaces are available and the fee is waived for vehicles transporting

certain persons who have disabilities that:

    Have special equipment, such as ramps, lifts, foot or hand controls for use by a disabled person;

Display a Florida Toll Exemption Permit as explained in s. 316.1964, Florida Statutes; and

Display a Disabled Veteran (DV) license plate issued under s. 320.084; s. 320.0842; or s. 320.0845, Florida Statutes.

Parking agents will not grant parking waivers for any other reason than the ones listed above.

  7. We cruise soon 12/3 on the Fantasty. I knew about the pirate night and party and of course semi and formal nights but I read a thread about a Starwars night. Yikes, I didn't know about that one.

You will not have a Star Wars day on your sailing. Star Wars Day at Sea will take place on some cruises early next year.

  8. Hi fellow river cruisers,

I am trying to touch base with other cruisers who will be taking the Viking Danube Waltz River Cruise from Passau to Budapest on April 18th, 2017. We are extending our trip for the 3 additional days in Budapest and are looking for 2 other people to join us on a full day private tour to the small towns around Budapest on April 27th. Contact me at kathierobinson33@hotmail.com if you are interested.

    Thanks.

    Kathie

Have you checked the roll calls board to see if there's a thread for your sailing?

  9. They have told us every week that it has been sent! Most recently the person stated it was mailed 10/29. I have double ckd addresses, etc. I also have now told them this is realky unacceptable and that we are very unhappy.

They were mailed by USPS 7 days ago, I would give it another 3-5 business days. But you can print off your signature pages from the DCL website when you have completed your online check in. The only thing missing will be luggage tags which can be given to you at the port when you arrive.

  10. You do not need to place any funds on your account before you make any charges. You are given a set amount that can be charged before you have to pay that off to begin charging again. The amount is based on the length of cruise and you will be advised of the amount when you check in and tell them you want a cash account instead of placing a credit card on your account. I believe it's $300 for cruises under 7 days and those 7 days and longer it is $500.

  11. Thanks Belle. What is above the 2 bedroom suites? Did you have any issues with being forward on Magic. Sometimes it can be rocky. I really appreciate your feedback. Everyone is so helpful.

Over both cat. S's is the seating area around the adult pool. It is near the forward elevator lobbies but I've never had a noise issue being near any of the elevator lobbies.

No movement issues when we sailed out of NYC and I easily get motion sickness.

  12. Thanks Moki. We were aft under the beverage station. Concierge did everything possible to eliminate the noise. I really give them credit. One night I even went upstairs and could not find where the noise was coming from. Some nights quiet others not so. I guess after speaking with other concierge guests. I had the better of the rooms. Do you think a 2 bedroom would be quieter?

We were in a 2 bedroom suite, starboard side, on the Magic out of NYC in 2012 and didn't have any noise issues. We had a cat. S not a cat. R, the cat. S is forward not midship.

  13. I called earlier this week and was told I could move the date but had to be within the same category on the new sailing.

Sadly you were told wrong information. You can change the date and downgrade to a non-concierge room, the deposit will stay as non-refundable. Call back and ask for a supervisor and let them know what info. you were told the last time you called.

  14. Does he know that the Magic has Marvel Academy (and on display is a real costume from one of the movies?) They are also starting to have Marvel cruises. The Marvel Academy is present on ALL Magic cruises' date=' not just the special ones. Want to see something funny? Watch the dads do Marvel Academy during open house time (or in our case, adult only time. That was on a 14 night cruise).[/quote']

The Marvel cruises, so far, are only being offered on the Magic NYC sailings in 2017.

To the OP if Marvel characters interest your kids, the Wonder will also have the Marvel Super Hero Academy. The Wonder will be doing 3 & 4 day sailings out of Port Canaveral in Feb., March and the beginning of April.

I would suggest if doing the 4 day cruise to go on the Wonder in the spring as the ship is smaller with less people to orientate your eldest to the new experience. The 4 day cruises will leave on Sunday and return on Thursday.
