  1. Also sailed on this cruise.

Celebrity did everything possible to make us safe from Covid germs.   Yes, there were covid cases, but the vast majority of us faithfully wore masks as recommended and did not get sick.

Only 1213 passengers on the Equinox (with a capacity for 2850).    Crew spoiled us!    It was great.   Kudos to Celebrity!

Felt it was the right decision to sail and we are very glad we did.

Like many passengers on the ship, we upped our extra tipping to double because service crew had appreciably fewer passengers to give tips.   Think about this, if you are about to cruise.

Happy Sailing to you all!    Jimmybean

I would also love to hear from anyone on the current cruising. My daughter and I were to be on board.  Sadly I tested positive on the pre cruise test. I just had a stuffy nose but from what I had heard from others recently I had a feeling it would be positive.  My dd was negative until today and even now we both have only mild symptoms.

We would have been in Sky Suite 2150. If some one can take a picture from the aft deck for me it would be appreciated.  We are hoping to be able to rebook for March.

What a disappointment for you!   Get well soon...

I don't believe I can actually share a FB link here ... but I just took a screenshot.  Maybe that will help you.  Just do a search for ... Celebrity Cruises Captain's Club. The picture might help.  You have to join the group to see the posts.

A post on this FB group said that at the show last night, they were told there are only 600 PAX on this sailing.  That must be a lot less people than you had on your New Year's sailing.  Hopefully, they'll be a lot less Covid cases and better handling of it ... plus masks are now mandatory indoors.

I'm not sure I understand...  Only 600 passengers on which ship?   The Equinox?    On the current cruise?   Thanks for clarifying.

***whispers***….you know she reads this thread, right? 🤫

The meals are are great here. 😏

All kidding aside, she is taking great care of me, as she always does. She’s the best and puts up with my nonsense.  She does scowls if I get with 27’ of her now, but other than that….😉

Oh….I think you’re looking for this guy.  Not sure if he was on board but you can reach out on Insta if you’re inclined.

My money was on you all the time, Mr P.      I'm not disappointed.

Kidding aside back, your thread was a great help to me.   Thank you!

  5. Peckerson (find a photo for that one):

I wonder if the meals you are having in isolation at home match the (delicious appearing) ones you shared with us from ship-isolation?   You haven't posted a home-isolation-meal photo yet, so I wonder what is up?   Is DW feeding you?   Should we send care packages?

I (for one) appreciated the information that mask-requirements are included on the X app.   Sailing in 5 days (and not next August) this is relevant for me.   Everyone posting covid worries that go months (to years) out, not so much.   You all will have to wait (and maybe worry) days before sailing (or canceling) like I have.   We don't know what future months will be like---I'm hoping covid becomes less and less of a worry for any of us.

I've been able to skim multiple postings with similar to identical content so (unlike Pinboy) I haven't become bored with everyone's contributions.   It has been a great thread with lots of heartfelt support for Parkerson and his Canadian cohorts.

Plus, I like the food photos...   Peckerson, this is your cue...

    Happy Sailings, Jimmybean

We'll see you on the 9th, unless we chicken out.

DH and I were firmly "going" until late last night when we saw that Florida's covid surge was up almost 1000%.    Yikes!

I have our suitcase entirely packed.   We have until tomorrow to cancel first motel for the drive south.

We have no problem masking, but there will be people in Florida and people on the ship who don't mask (or won't mask).

Covid will be aboard and it will spread.   Not everyone will catch it, but DH has an aversion to being quarantined (unlike Parkerson, DH does not imbibe--could make all the difference with having a mellow disposition in the confided space or being unhappy and cross and surly...)

Good luck with your decision, Wish!    We are working on ours.

  7. I'm really enjoying the photos you have posted showing your meals, Parkerson.

IF I am quarantined on the January 9th cruise, I will order the same delicious looking (and/or sounding) items.

.....Or, maybe these things will be available in the MDR and I can just skip the covid???

    Time will tell.

You are certainly taking your quarantine in stride and with good humor.   Kudos to you!    It's never fun to feel sick.    And, I'm sure it's no fun to have your movements restricted.

You have made the best of a bad situation.

Can't wait to see what you order for breakfast.

The best to you!   Get well soon.

Triple masked and staying that way---  yours truly Jimmybean

  8. We also had Cunard store our suitcase in Southampton on two occasions.

Very slick, but neither our steward nor the person at the purse's desk initially gave us correct information regarding the procedure--which was a special tag and leave the bag in the hall (just as Cruise NH described).

Our suitcase appeared without problem a short time after we boarded for the return voyage.

Great service!   Too bad Cunard doesn't provide adequate training, so all employees can answer questions correctly, but the service itself is terrific.

    Happy Sailing!

  9. My seven year old grandson is small for his age.   He wants to zip line in Jamaica and meets age requirement, but would there be any issues regarding size?   Will the harnesses be fully adjustable.   Thanks for your replies.

  10. I would appreciate answers to some basic questions:

    1.   Is there any advantage for buying beverage package, tours, internet before sailing?   Would they be less expensive if purchases now instead of on the ship?

    2.   Is internet in the Caribbean reasonably fast?   We will be on the Reflection.

    3.   With T-mobile international plan (cell phone uses satellite instead of cell towers) will I be able to text on the ship?   Does the ship have anything that blocks cell use?   I imagine there will be no problem using the cell phone in various ports.

    Thanks for your help!

  11. We crossed in early November 2016 and sea was not at all rough.

The QM2 is a great ship---handles the Atlantic well. Captains have weather predictions and avoid storms.

    No worries---have fun!!!

  12. We are thinking of cruising with grandkids for the first time---ages 7, 12, and 14---and would appreciate some description of kid programs that are available on RCI Are they costly? How much is the cost? Have your children/grandchildren enjoyed?

Any advice offered would be most appreciate. Thanks, Jimmybean

  13. We have left our car at the Brooklyn parking lot three or four times. The last time was November 2016. The longest period was for a month. It isn't covered parking, but our car was safe, sound, and conveniently nearby each time. One time we had to call someone because the self-payment didn't work. Another time, someone was there in person (we wondered it she was pocketing the money). All in all, though we wouldn't hesitate to use the dock-side parking again. It worked just fine for us.

    Happy Sailing!

  14. Our experience (which I admit is dated) has been that initially WCs aren't marketed as many short segments. As time goes on (and presumedly longer segments aren't sold) then shorter segments are offered.

We sailed on a 36-day LA to LA in 2013 (with New Zealand as mid-point) that we booked as a single voyage. We called, asking about having our voyage "broken" into segments (when such segments were offered) without receiving a positive response. Then, (surprise!) we were credited with a separate voyage when we got to New Zealand and upgraded to our platinum status. The purser even replaced our cabin-cards with ones of the appropriate platinum color.

We are in the US---I don't know if that makes any difference.

I agree with booking early and having accommodations secured, but (at least in the US) we have found Cunard willing to make alterations (including better fares) with follow-up phone calls.

And, yes, making the phone calls can be frustrating!

    Have a wonderful voyage!

  15. All I am hoping for is to be able to use the deck chairs. I love laying out on deck now I am wondering if Cunard would upon my request put a lounger in my sheltered balcony?

It's a big ocean: you are likely to experience different weather at different points during your crossing.

It is a small sheltered balcony: I'm not sure if "sun" would be part of your lounger experience.

We crossed in May one year. Not as warm and sunny as one of our September transatlantic. Not as rainy as November.

Never had a "bad" crossing. Each has offered different joys and is remembered in a different place in my heart.

    Happy Sailing!

  16. Hello jimmybean,

Hattie answered your query. The following statement on there is always present as she is the moderator and nothing to do with your question, it is for email questions direct to Hattie. Hope this clears things up.

Yes, it does. Thank you! And, thanks again, Hattie...

  17. I think my user-name was included, Hattie. Your reply to my question confuses me ??? I intended no impatience when asking about the shampoo brand currently used on Cunard ship.

Is anyone else able to answer my question. Thank you.
