  1. MSC have a strict policy of discouraging personal tipping.

    1) MSC are Italian and have mostly European guests who do not tip except for exceptional, beyond the call of duty, service.

    2) MSC want to extract the 'daily hotel charge' from as many guests as possible.

    3) Personal tips will on average equate to less an automatic service charge.

As with most cruise lines, the service charge pays the wages. If the staff do better than expected, they receive the benefit, otherwise the company makes it up to their contractual wages.

    That is how it is.

I brought ones and fives and tipped cash. I had the premium package and everything worked out great.

  2. I had to walk through the pool area with the retractable roof from my room to the buffet several times a day and quite honestly, I never saw very many people in that area. The only time I did see a lot of people in there was the one day they opened the roof.

Some people must have a Kid phobia when on vacation.

  3. Ah, but heres the thing, the kids in the U.S. were all back in school and spring break was over. I was not expecting the ship to be full of European kids, not that there is a difference, kids are kids. I did not select this cruise because of that, but was surprised to find the ship so full of kids.

As far as the buffet, dont recall the burger nor the eggs being "freshly made." Most everything was bland and barely edible. No worries, the positive is all the weight I lost on this sailing!

I simply think for the price, yes it was a value, a poor value, but still a value. In comparison to other cruise lines, I would not recommend MSC to anyone regardless of the price differential. I would rather pay more to get better service, food, etc and enjoy myself than pay for a "bargain" and get nothing in return. I know this is a personal preference and some may not agree, but that as they say is what makes the world go round.

I was on the same cruise and in my humble opinion, there were not that many children on this cruise. At least compared to a Carnival cruise in the summer. I mainly stayed around the aft pool. Hot Tubs barely used on see days. Always found a chair. I purchased the Premium beverage package. One price, all inclusive. It was Great. Before dinner, I would go to the second floor lobby bar and the bartenders would have my double Johnny Walker Blue ready for me as soon as they saw me coming.

Main Dining room food was not that great. Buffet pretty good.

Getting off boat was easy. Did not do self assist. Was in my rental car by 10 am.

  4. Being from the south-I do love bacon! I like it crispy and brown with my eggs and grits. After many trips in Europe-I have found that I like it also like the poster from New Zealand does. I always like to try everything and have not found anything I actually hate in different countries. I even loved Haggis! I don't eat oatmeal at home, but absolutely love the steel cut oats in Ireland. I believe in trying to eat like the locals when you visit their country. All Americans came from Europe-so I would never poke fun or say our way to eat is right or wrong. We, in the south, do eat some strange things ourselves and talk funny too! LOL!

Sorry but not all Americans came from Europe. Some from Asia, South America, Great Britain, etc.
