Maybe the ships are in a Domestic Portnership
Oh, that is VERY nice!!!
-
I'm jealous! At least you got to get off ship at another port. I was on the Getaway and we got stuck with another sea day. We were also told obstruction in the channel. All cabins got a fifty dollar onboard credit and the port charges refunded.
I've gotta say that I have always enjoyed visiting Belize at Belize City.
Locals are wonderful, ruins tours were terrific. went tubing and we also deplete the supply of Belikin. Went snook fishing there as well.
Getting stuck on the Getaway would've been a bothersome day.

....I'd be curious to see how many get this reference.;)
Well, some folks born before 1984 will probably get it. :)

All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.:) Well, it is certain some are TASTIER than others.

There might be a reef way out; didn't go that far. I tried just past the deep water along the beach and also along the rocks near the dock. Almost no fish, coral or anything--except, obviously, jellyfish, since I got stung!
Yah. Another fellow said maybe a half mile swim to a reef.
That ain't happenin'.
It's looking more and more like a day to sit on the ship and use the drink package.

Thanks for reinforcing the naval architecture course I took over 40 years ago. Completely aware of how ships are built, how they float, and what influences stability, but once again, I never brought this up in the first place, so why is it continuing.
PVC piping was never used in ships, for pressure piping, as it was found to be not sufficiently robust. Plastic water pipe on ships is Polypropylene, not PVC. Polypropylene piping is approved for ultra-pure water installations, as well as pharmaceutical applications.
No fair!!!!
You shouldn't be distributing actual knowledge of how a ship operates!!!

How are they increasing bar tabs if water is free at the bar? and the buffet? and the restaurants?
Well, in fairness, the GOOD water is transformed into beer.
That's how they make water safe to drink.

I agree; just not that impressed. It was okay if all you want to do is lay in a lounge chair--doing anything else, including food, was expensive. The beach wasn't great, I tried snorkeling in two different areas--got stung by a jellyfish but saw almost no fish.
It is pretty and brand new; the pool looked great, if crowded. I guess just not what we were looking for in Belize.
I'd much rather go to the mainland for other activities.
Is there any sort of reef to snorkel or is it just open water?

Shouldn't some of the ground up food be brought ashore to feed to pigs? There are some of us who greatly prefer bacon to sea food. Why should a significant portion of what we pay (the amount which goes to leftovers) be so specifically directed?
If it came from the buffet it means they tried to feed it to the pigs and it was rejected.

You lightweight...start chugging at dawn and you'll hit 15 drinks before you know it. :D
Ya can't drink all day if ya don't start in the morning.

Thank you for the response but I'm sure you know that's not what I had in mind. I was hoping someone with experience staying in touch while cruising to Bermuda might have advice that wouldn't cost me the fortune that it would cost to use my phone. I did a some online research and I am wondering about Telestial? Has anyone used them or any other similar company while cruising?
I certainly had no way of guessing what else you were trying find out about.
You might've asked about finding the cheapest method or maybe the least expensive or maybe a wild guess as to what it would cost. Or maybe about reliability. But you didn't ask about these things.
-
The best way?
Turn on the phone and use it.
It will be spendy.

Everyone is a f'ing comedian.
Nah. We just cannot help you without enough info.
I CAN help you with some advice-----read the guidelines for posting around here.
-
Do they call the buffet the dinning room because it is noisy?
-
I'll look elsewhere for answers.
The best way to use it?
Turn it on and use it. That seems simple enough.
You didn't mention any caveats.
-
Not alarming nor disturbing.
It IS old news.

After reading your replies I've come to the conclusion that you guys are fooling yourselves and been brainwashed by the cruise companies. It's not your job to pay their staff properly, it's theirs! My God, when was the last time you stayed in a five star hotel and had to research the room?
Avoiding sales people with photos and food is also not my idea of a relax.
Still, everyone to their own. You really should get together somehow and put your collective foot down and force them to stop taking advantage of you.
So, what do plan to do instead of going on a cruise?
-
Ooop!
I forgot to add.....
LOL
-
And why is that? Because getting mad over someone taking a personal item on a cruise that has absolutely no effect on you makes perfect sense right?
Try again.
-
.people need to calm down lol.
No, that isn't what needs to happen.

Was having a philosophical discussion with a friend. We came to different conclusions. Decided to post it here. If I buy a beverage package that allows me to consume up to 15 drinks a day, and a provide a drink or more to my friend, is that dishonest? What if in total, we only consume say ten drinks? Why is it okay for the cruise line to "overcharge" me for the 3-5 drinks I do consume. Didn't I pay for 15? Should t I be allowed to do anything with the fifteen drinks I wish?
Because is defined by what someone does when he knows he cannot be caught.

We have heard from CC posters that the inputs on the TVs are disabled.

The lot will be available.
Getting to it can be a problem. Go early. Like 8 AM.
A couple of years ago we were there when the Saturday parades got rained out. They moved to Sunday.
It was a BIG traffic problem. Some fellows arriving in cars missed the ship, stuck on the Mississippi side of the river.
