  1. I am a platinum cruiser on Carnival. I am also a Diabetic and recent Bariatric Bypass patient. I cannot have more than 5 or so grams of sugar in a beverage as well as absolutely no caffeine, nor alcohol. Keeping that in mind, I take on board with me at embarkation: bottles of Trop 50, Diet Ocean Spray, & Welch's Light. I also bring on water bottles and Crystal Light drink mixes. NONE of these come in a can!! Carnival does not provide any beverage onboard other than water out of the tap station or skim milk on the buffet station that I can safely drink. To whom do I voice my concerns and questions about this new policy to?? Did Carnival take into consideration any of us that are in the same situation?? OR do they care?? Please any help or tips on what to do? I have an up coming cruise in September on the Magic already paid for.

Sorry in advance for how snarky this is going to sound, but you might want to contact all of those posters on other threads who bragged about how they smuggled alcohol or planned to do so. They are the ones who ruined things for the majority of the people, probably like you, who followed the rules.

  2. Not sure either this was going to be a last minute booking, we normally sail together , and haven't had this problem, I just don't think it's fair for anyone sailing solo to pay more than what they would charge 2 people.

I think RC has every right to do what they are doing. They were running a special that was limited to double occupancy only. You are asking them to change the rules of their special pricing just for you. It is like a tire store that offers a sales price but only if you buy four tires and you are asking for the same pricing for only two tires. While it may not seem fair to you, it is the promotion they are offering, though not the one you wish they would offer.

  3. I have been sober for 25 years and never attended AA. Nothing wrong with AA, just not my thing.

For 15 of those years I managed a sports bar as a second job and bartended. Was it sometimes tempting? Sure, but I realized what I would give up if I just had that one drink. My wife supported me the whole way and, like you, wouldn't drink around me until I assured her that it was up to me, not her, to stay sober.

I've been on 2 cruises over that time and had no issue with the urge to pick up a drink. I've gotten use to the alternatives and felt the non-alcoholic "foo-foo" drinks were a nice treat.

All that being said, you and your husband know him and his willpower better than any of us here on the board. If he is uncomfortable going to parties where friends are drinking or to a restaurant where you may have shared a bottle of wine once, then I'd be cautious about going. If not, team up and be there for him and have a non-alcoholic good time.

I agree, you can never have "just one".

Good luck and hopefully you will have a wonderful cruise

  4. Not a breach. Get a name and you might have something.

In addition, you are saying it is a breach of confidentiality that may only pertain to US privacy laws. I'm not sure, but I don't think ships flagged outside the US are bound by these laws. Some other laws like health and safety, yes. Privacy - I don't think so
