  1. Can someone please help explain how to use the OBC to tip the Butler and Concierge with OBC? I have never tried this before, so I am not sure how this works. Thx

Just go down to the desk in the Atrium, tell them the name of the person you want to tip and the amount. They fill out a form that sends the money to the crew members account....and they give you a receipt. At that point I generally put the receipt in an envelope (which you can get at the desk too) and present the receipt to the crew member as if it were cash. The receipt makes sure the crew member gets the $, since they can present that if it doesn't show in their account for some reason.

  2. We book directly with Norwegian, via a Personal Cruise Consultant. We've had issues using travel agencies in the past, that ended up costing money to get rid of them and move the bookings directly to Norwegian. We could do the bookings ourselves on the website or by calling in to Norwegian, but enjoy the assistance of the Personal Cruise Consultant, and they can be very helpful if there are any issues along the way.

  3. My fiancee and I are sailing on the Star's Panama Canal cruise in early December for our honeymoon. Will they do anything special for us if we called NCL and told them it was our honeymoon?

Have it added to your reservation. You should get a card in your cabin that you can turn in at dinner time to get a small cake.

  4. When I updated my iconcierge phone app last week I noticed that there is a "survey" button at the bottom of the Onboard Experience section. I'm not sure if this is new, or I've just never noticed it before. Since I'm not on a ship again until December I haven't seen what comes up when you select that.

  5. I've never had this happen before but always wondered. What would happen if you booked a cabin for two but only one person shows up and boards?

I know nothing is refunded but is the person onboard allowed to stay onboard and complete the trip?

Are they allowed to embark/on board check in without all cabin passengers present?

Won't work if the guest that shows is under 21, since there must be a guest 21 years of age or older.

Taxes/port charges for the missing guest would be refunded, along with anything that was pre-paid like the Daily service charge, or the promotional 18% on dinner/beverage package, or shore excursions pre booked and paid for.

  6. Just looked at my edocs for my December Breakaway sailing, and although it doesn't specify suite (Haven) near the cabin #, if you look below the print luggage tag suitcase icon it does say "HAVEN" (in gold print) there.....that's what they looked at in the terminal in NY the last cruise we were on.

See if your edocs might say "SUITE" there....

  7. We (@TrueNorth74) are booked on the Breakaway February 2 for 14 days. Right now we have a mid-ship balcony. We're going to upgrade to a Haven (we've had a horrible 2017 and want to treat ourselves to start off 2018). It's a big expense for us so I want to try to make the right decision. (Our last cruise in December 2016 was awful - so many things went wrong we thought we were on Punkd! or Candid Camera!)

We think we're going for an Aft Penthouse Suite. Our options are 9316 (port), 12904 (stbd), 13302 (port) and 14272 (port). Thoughts - would you prefer one over the others?

Our other consideration is a Haven Spa Suite - but I'm not big into heat and I don't think my husband would enjoy the spa much (he tried it on another ship a few years ago). I also have allergies to lilac, lavendar, wool and vanilla.

We had a forward suite gifted to us by the fairy about seven years ago - but the weather was most uncooperative. We like having dinner in our suite and lounging on the balcony. Does anyone know if I can use the dining credits to dine in our room? The showers I have seen in the video are pretty exciting. Neither of us drink alcohol or coffee.

What side of the ship do we need to be on to see Lady Liberty as we leave? Any other considerations?

I super appreciate any help/insight/opinions you can provide!

14272....For the Breakaway aft penthouses my favorite floor plan, with the two sliding doors( one in the living room, and one in the bedroom) out to the balcony are on decks 11 and 14. I've cruised in both, the one on deck 14 you can hear some music and stuff from Spice H2O, if the balcony door is open in the evening....but not really and issue during the day.

If you like the other floor plan, which to me makes the bedroom feel small, and has a window above the bathtub that looks out onto the balcony.....the one on deck 9 would be my choice, since it has the largest balcony.

We'll be back on deck 11 in the Aft suite on the Breakaway in December.

That shows both configurations, and was put together by another CC member....

  8. thanks. looks like they took it away for that sailing. wonder if they will bring it back

That promotional option is Capacity Controlled, so can (and does) get removed once a set number of the cabins on the ship are booked with 3 or more guests. If they didn't remove it they run the risk of having to cruise with cabins that have no guests so they don't go over the life boat capacity....they don't like to ever do that. :o

Very rarely right around final payment the option could come back up, if a number of families cancel at that point before the penalty phase.

  9. As the title states, is there a way to cancel a bid?

So no need to respond as I figured it out and cancelled the bid...

On the website, when you log in click on the link "lets get you upgraded"

from there you can click on review your bids, for each category you bid on....then click on cancel offer.

  10. I was wondering where on the ship- Norwegian Breakaway can I find Quiet (no music playing) and Shaded ( can not be exposed to the sun) places with loungers Outside not inside where you can breath the fresh air and look at the Ocean while sitting on a lounger in a shade?

    Thanks

The waterfront (deck 8) has chairs that are shaded...very peaceful there too.

  11. Thank you

wonder how long we will have to wait to find out

I've seen gty cabins not assigned until you reach the ship the day of the cruise, but most of the time you will find out at least 48 hours in advance. Keep checking your myncl.com page and eventually it will show up there.

  12. I have a cruise next certificate that will expire in a few months but I am not able to take

a cruise before it gets expired. I have read some old post where the person said he got a refund for an unused certificate.

Has anyone recently requested a refund and been successful ?

    From the terms on those...

    4. CruiseNext Deposits are refundable only within 30 days of purchase, in the amount paid minus the amount of the instant shipboard credit. A CruiseNext Deposit can only be applied to a new reservation and otherwise has no cash value and is not redeemable or exchangeable for cash. CruiseNext Deposits are transferable at no charge.

Maybe you could gift it to someone, or sell it on one of the auction sites.

  13. On the website, when you click on the lets get you upgraded banner...click on the FAQ at the bottom of that section. item #11 applies for solo guests.

Upgrade Advantage - how it works.

Welcome to Upgrade Advantage. In just a few clicks, you can submit an offer to upgrade your stateroom on your upcoming cruise.

Browse through the stateroom options below. Making offers on multiple rooms will increase your chances of getting upgraded, but you'll only ever pay for one upgrade.

    Here's how it works:

    1. Name your bid to upgrade your stateroom on your upcoming cruise, then click Continue.
    2. We'll notify you via email if your request for an upgrade has been approved.

If your offer is accepted, you'll be charged for the upgrade. If not, you pay nothing and keep the stateroom you have.

Offers are based on two occupants per stateroom for the entire duration of the cruise - only the first and second guest will be charged.

Please refer to the Frequently Asked Questions about the program.

  14. AFAIK, prices for those GSC cabanas varied by ships and has been going up higher & higher ... even for the Gem this May, at higher prices than those posted above.

For our upcoming BA sailing ... about a month out - the small one is going for just $549 (yes, not a typo/misprint ... just checked in our MyNCL account) so might as well book the large one for "only" $50 more or $599 - room for 8 instead of 6 for the small.

Both available for online booking ... (plenty of staterooms for sale, as well ;p)

You're right. For the BA in December I'm seeing the same prices you have. The info I copied was from the general shore excursion page on the NCL website. In the past they sold out quickly, I guess they have found a way to not sell out so quickly...:')

Not a bad deal if you have a few people to share the cost with, but for a couple it's quite steep. The last time we had one we shared the cost between 3 couples from our CC roll call.

  15. Great Stirrup Cay Cabanas:

    What is the cost?

Are the Great Stirrup Cay cabanas available to everyone or only Haven guests?

    What is included?

    How are they purchased?

Before the cruise or on the cruise?

    Thanks.
