Since you are traveling in a different season, your weather may not be the same. However, we are in a vista suite very close to the rear on deck 7 and we had 3 straight nights of fog. During that time, the stabilizers were used and there was a noticeable shaking, especially at night (probably because we were trying to sleep and not distracted by other things). The fog horn also sounds every 2-3 minutes. It is a little muted but noticeable, especially if you do not sleep with earplugs.

Again, you may have different weather but that has been our experience. We felt shaking and heard the foghorn but it is part of sailing and would not prevent us from sailing on the Zaandam again.

Thank you! I am thinking about moving to a lower level.

  2. Thank you! Sailing Holland America on Zaandam for the first time in the fall. We have one of the secret aft cabins. Do you notice a lot of shaking in the aft? We were on a Princess ship a couple months ago. We had to move our cabin from the aft to the center of the ship. Plenty of empty rooms so it was not a problem. Princess was great letting us move. I’ve never experienced that kind of shaking on a ship before.

I'm hoping they'll have the new Alaskan Menu on board and that you'll grace us with foodie pics and opinions... We're on the Grand later this month for an Alaskan B2B and excited for the new seafood choices that are expected 🙂  Hope you have a wonderful cruise in spite of the changes... and like you said, you have the drink package, so it should be pretty good all around no matter what 😉

Great question.  I’m on Discovery on May 22 and can’t wait to see the Alaska menu!

  4. My last cruise a couple months ago there were a couple of spin bikes. They were always in use. No clips and very disappointing. I have a Peloton and it wasn’t worth it to try and get a workout in. I used the treadmills instead. A few months back I went on a Celebrity cruise, they have Pelotons!!! They also have a fantastic gym. I wish Princess would update their equipment. Sailing on the Discovery in May, hoping the gym is better than my last cruise.

  5. We are leaving on Monday on Regal Princess. Six of us went to three different testing facilities in our city. The hours were supposed to be from 8am-7pm. There were many people lined up but no one working at any facility. We waited over an hour and finally at one of the testing sites someone showed up. We also had backup appointments at CVS for a PCR test later that day. I was worried about a PCR test not coming back in time. We were all scrambling trying to find a site that we could get an Antigen test. Closest place was an hour drive away and no way to find out for sure if they were open. It was a pretty stressful morning.

A couple of months ago we took a Celebrity cruise. We used the Binax Now test I ordered from Celebrity’s website. Cost 60.00 for two. It was a joy taking those tests. I watched the UTube videos for instructions on the process. We got up early around 6am, made our coffee and took the tests. Easy, had our results in 30 minutes.

Next cruise if we still have to test I’m going to get the Binax Now tests. I’ll order an extra in case there is a problem, and have a stress free day or two days before the cruise. I won’t put myself through that kind of stress again.

  6. I purchased the 7 day couples pass on my upcoming reflection cruise. I love all the different shower, cold and hot rooms. They also have hot loungers. It’s very nice to relax before dinner. I would highly recommend it. This will be my first time sailing on Celebrity. I usually sail on Princes and Royal. They have the same kind of spa pass. Each ship is a little different with what it offers. All have been wonderful!!

  7. Thank you everyone for taking the time to post a report! We are desperately trying to get to the ship:( We left at 8am from Sarasota and got stuck in a two hour traffic jam. We finally made it to Naples but still have an hour and a half to go :( Way to much stress to handle the day of a vacation. Do you think with the health inspection the boarding will be late ? Thanks

  8. I've decided not to take this on my upcoming cruise and have no other use for it, so it's up for grabs.

    Size 10

Full length, with a slight train in the back

I'm 5'9" and this is true floor length on me. I wear an 8 or a 10 and this fits beautifully.

The photos are the best I could do. The first one shows the whole skirt. It is a medium/dark grayish blue. There are three layers. The first (bottom) is an icy blue/gray satin. The middle layer is a blue/gray netting, with sequins. The photo shows the sequins as multicolored, but actually they are all silvery/white and just reflect whatever color shines on them. The top layer is a darker gray/blue netting. Washable, hang to dry.

I washed it and the under layer came out wrinkled, so I turned it inside out and wet it down with the showerhead. Then, it hung out smooth.

Any takers? If anyone wants this now, I'll need to know asap as Monday 8/31 will be my last day to be able to mail it out before I sail sail sail away.

Hi Amy I just love that skirt! Let me know if it's still available after you get home.

    Thanks,Le Ann

  9. About 5-6 years ago we were in Grand Cayman and a man got his foot caught between the tender and shore. The seas were really high. We heard it was pretty bad breaking off his toe. Now we are extra careful when entering and exiting a tender!
