This story is a reverse of what has been discussed.
I tend to travel alone. I had booked and paid for a suite at double the "per passenger" price. My daughter expressed an interest in coming along so I thought in my innocence that I wouldn't have to pay any extra. How wrong I was! RCCL insisted on cancelling my paid for booking and repricing for two passengers at the current price. This was even though there were no cabins available. It would have cost me in excess of an extra $2000!

I will be carrying my own coffee for the coffee maker. Just needed to know the size. Great information here. Isn't it nice to have a forum where you can ask a question about a small detail and within hours receive pretty current information. Wonderful.:)
I really like the coffee in the suites, so I brought a few home with me. The diameter is 4.5 inches.
Hope this helps.

Many thanks for that guys.:):)

Can anybody let me know the Email address of the concierge on Explorer?
No reply to my query from RCL

Thanks for that. I'm sure now I will not bother with a package.

I'm on Explorer in Europe later this year and dithering whether to buy a drinks package or not.
As a Diamond member, and purchasing a GS grade suite, what "free" drinks are available to me?
I understand that I can get "free" drinks in the Concierge Lounge from about 5.30pm. onwards. Are there any other times?

Hi 2time cruiser. Just looked up the roll call. I see that you have registered. Look forward to meeting up.

My error!
"Buy one device and get the second one for 50% off!
Surf, share, & stay connected with pervasive wifi! Email friends, check your stocks, surf the web and share pictures of your incredible cruise adventure!
This package provides you unlimited internet access for 2 devices while onboard."
RCCL disingenous as usual. Not £20 for the voyage but PER DAY. I never learn!
-
I've not read any recent reports of internet prices on Explorer. The current rate for the older ships seems to be $20 per day for one device and $30 per day for two devices, when you buy for multiple days. They may have promo pricing when you get on board.
Most interesting then that I have been offered £20 ($30) for two devices for the full 14 days via my cruise personaliser..:)

2time cruiser.
I see that you are on the same cruise as me on 18th.September. Are you on the roll call?
-
Thanks for your quick response.
Commenting on the cost of WiFi, what IS the cost of 14 days WiFi use? Bearing in mind that Explorer is now totally WiFi - does this cost more?
-
Anybody know if ship-wide WiFi is now available on Explorer following her refit?:)

I have travelled GS grade several times and never realised I didn't have to hunt for a seat in Windjammer. If I can sit down in one of the speciality restaurants, I will use the Windjammer in future.:D

Do they provide shampoo and condition in the junior suite?
Thanks Sharon
They did last year.:)

Many thanks for your replies.:)

I'm currently on the Explorer of the Seas and I was happy to see that my drink essentially did not go much in price. I drink Tanquaray & Tonics and on this cruise from Southampton the price is $8.00. That includes gratuity.
Let me know what lager and I can check the price for you.
This does not seem a large increase from last year. Not as bad as I would have thought.
If I remember correctly, they serve Michelob and Becks. If you could quote me a price for either bottles or draught that would be very helpful.
Thanks.
-
Thanks for that Icklepickle. I guess those prices are plus grats.
You wouldn't by any chance be able to recollect the price of a pint of lager?
Many thanks
-
Can anybody point me in the direction of the CURRENT drinks prices for Explorer of the Seas out of Southampton please - either with or without grats.
I'm in the process of working out if it would be good for me to purchase a drinks package or not.
Thanks.

Sorry to resurrect this thread but does anyone know when the refurb is meant to be completed by?
Thanks.
First cruise out of the U.K. is 24th.April. Explorer is currently in dry dock in Cadiz. This really is a major service extending over some 30+ days. I have no doubt contractors will be working on the ship during her transit from Cadiz to Southampton.
-
Many thanks for your responses
-
I believe that Explorer is currently having a refit in Cadiz, Spain.
Does anybody know if RC is upgrading the wi-fi and whether the current pricing policy will change?
-
I thought that the Diamond Lounge had a card entry system. Same goes for the Concierge Lounge.

Looking at the 2016 season and to some extent the 2015 season as well, the move in the U.K. is for all inclusive. Although RCL have inclusive drinks packages for 2015, this does not seem to include spirits. 2016 does seem to include everything.
I'm not stupid enough to think that drinks aren't going to cost me anything - it's obviously built into the fare. This might stop this type of thread in its tracks!

I'm in the process of purchasing a drinks package. Can anyone tell me how RC work out the number of days/nights.
For example; a 14 NIGHT cruise could be charged at 14 nights or even 15 days.
Can anyone qualify this for me please.
