  1. Just got off a 4 night.  We did it because it fit in with my kids spring break and we did add on Disney to the trip.  It was the first cruise for the kids so was a good way for them to see if they enjoy cruises.  It does seem really short and they finally figured out their way around the ship by the last night so a longer cruise would have been more enjoyable.  As for the crew, the room attendant didn't seem to enjoy these as turn around days are a lot of work to get everything cleaned and sanitized so doing that twice in 3 days is a lot of work.  He did make the comment that these short cruises are a lot more work than the longer ones just for that reason.

And how many people would pay hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars to fly cross country to be turned away?

I didn't say it would the ONLY test, just that my TA said they might start accepting them.   Considering you can get 8 tests per month per person you can test before flying and then do what ever is needed at the port.

Chief- one more "question"- it was reported that SpaceX scrubbed the launch with 30 seconds left.  Any thoughts why they waited?  Given all of the location maps that the Harmony was located- it seemed pretty clear that it would take some considerable time to get out of the zone.  Like a few min.

All of the < 10 min procedures could have been scrubbed when it was clear that there wasn't time for the ship to clear the zone- even if they went the fastest way out of the zone.

While it's clear that the ship was very much in the wrong- it seems that SpaceX could have at least not spend the time and effort for final preparations.

I watched this video from the daily mail where they do talk about this.  They knew about the ship ahead of time, but since they had started fueling the rocket it basically needed to launch on time.  They were just as confused about the old at first but the hold didn't last long before it was scrubbed.  If the ship was out earlier they could have waited.

The ship they are originally talking about was the MSC one that they could see, then they show the Harmony.

IT department is in charge of database, programming, User Interfaces, and automaton. There is so much opportunity to improve the user experience with a bit more IT budget and talent.

You are correct, but what everyone is blaming on IT isn't an IT issue.  If someone enters data wrong or links an account to the wrong person, that isn't an IT issue, that is a data entry issue.

With everything that is connected so much more and more rely on IT and you are correct that most companies don't want to spend money as it as it is not seen as generating revenue.  I work in IT managing back end systems, but I never see the data or have control over the data that other people are entering or providing.

Processes and workflows can and need to be improved, but it isn't an IT problem, but an RCI problem.

  5. Why is everyone blaming the IT department?  IT should just be running the backend systems, not sending out communications.  I really doubt the IT department is also making updates to ports of call.

You really should be blaming the communications department or a customer relation group.  As for ports of call still showing, that is the responsibility of the group that handles ports of calls, not the IT department.
