  1. VT -

Just joining thread... been an “Edgie Lurker” for a bit, but now completely obsessed and had to chime in! Can’t wait to... as you said ... “live vicariously” through this journey!

Let me also join the many in thanking you for sharing this with our wonderful CC community.

    Cheers & Happy Travels!

  2. Booking on the Epic is just like booking on RCCL Quantum or Oasis class ships.

Booking for dinners and shows opened on May 26, 2018. Prime time dining may be sold out already.

You should book your two main theater shows: Priscilla and Burn the Floor. They both will show on 2 nights during your cruise (only), two shows a night. If you want to see the Cirque dinner show (extra cost), you also must make reservations (always book premium seats).

If you are going to do Specialty Dining, you must make reservations. If the dates/times you want are sold out, book those reservations immediately as soon as you embark. You can go to guest services or use the touch screen kiosks

Dinner reservations for the main dining room are not needed. Like My Time Dining, you show up when you are hungry or when you have an opening on your schedule. You are seated on a private table. You take as long (or short) as you want for dinner.

There are no formal nights. NCL embraces "dress up or not". Shorts can be worn to all meals in all dining rooms except the Manhattan Room MDR and Le Bistro specialty dining. For those two restaurants, NCL kindly requests that you wear long pants (jeans, dockers, etc.). Most people dress up a little for dinner. But jackets and ties are rare.

Thanks for sharing this great info! I too am going on Epic for the first time coming from RCCL/Celebrity, so this really makes a lot of sense of what I had in mind as far as the experience. Looking forward to trying out Epic and NCL for the very first time!

  3. Hello!

Was just on Silhouette's Jun. 9th sailing, and we did have "The Stars of Saint Petersburg" show come on board on our 2nd night (we had 2 nights in St. Petersburg on this itinerary). It was very nicely staged with local instruments, dancers, singers, and colorful costumes. Would presume this is somewhat similar (if not a bit of an abbreviated) version of what you would see on land.

I would suggest considering how much you are willing to spend for an evening excursion (would be worth it to see St. Petersburg at night if you are only relying on the ship/tour operator's visa) and also checking on board to confirm that the invited Russian show will in fact come on board during your sailing.

    Happy Cruising!

  4. I am currently on the Silhouette and I understand that Mother Nature makes up her own mind, but can anyone tell me how come Britannia got in to St Petersburg and we didn’t even though we are the same size?

So sorry to hear what you have been through and that you were unable to dock in St. Petersburg. Was just on board Silhouette in the cruise prior to this one (Jun. 9-23) and thankfully we were blessed with great weather... but I would like to know how the staff (who were wonderful during our cruise) are responding to this issue.

I also understand Mother Nature can reek havoc... but I do hope Celebrity is offering some kind of compensation for this great loss.

Sending you warm regards and wishes of a very happy last few days of this cruise and look forward to yours, or anyone else's feedback that was on board.

    Happy Cruising,

    ek

  5. Hello!

Was just on Silhouette two weeks ago (Jun. 9 - 23) and can confirm they have gone all-out and the Entertainment Court is decked out as "International Football Tournament" Central (they have to call it that since they don't have the FIFA license...), they have flags and a huge scoreboard outside Celebrity Central.

Speaking of which, most games are shown in Celebrity Central (with full bar spread/service, etc) and on Channel 25 in your stateroom (Satellite permitting... for the most part it worked well, but it was cutting in and out during crucial moments of the UK-Tunisia game, which was shown in the Silhouette Theatre due to the high UK demographic on board)

I'm sure they will continue to do all sorts of events and broadcast the games on this upcoming sailing.

Enjoy the Silhouette, not only a gorgeous ship, but absolutely amazing staff throughout, I'm sure you'll have a blast!

    Happy Cruising,

    ek

  6. Hello All!

Getting ready to sail to the Baltics on Silhouette and was wondering what areas of the Spa are still open to all guests' use. I remember back when we sailed on Constellation that areas like the Sauna/Steam room were open to all guests (plus usual Gym machines, etc.). Does this still apply on Silhouette? Is the relaxation lounge on Deck 11 also open to all guests?

    Thanks for your insights!

    Happy Travels!

  7. And that's why there's so many different choices....what's important to one person isn't to another. I have no problem with the quality of the food in the specialty restaurants, I'm sure it's delicious. What I have a problem with is paying "double" for it....I've already paid for the dinner in either the MDR or the buffet and I don't get a refund if I don't eat in either of them so what I'm paying for in the specialty restaurants is actually in addition to the meal I've already paid for. That's why I do n't eat in them. :D

Thanks Hydrokitty, and to everyone else that has chimed in. Great feedback all around!

Def. looking forward to trying out the MDR and deciding later on in the cruise what specialty restaurant to try, but I think will def. book Murano as a "special occasion" to just celebrate being on vacay with Mum.

    Happy Travels Everyone!

  8. Hello All!

Sailing on X Silhouette to the Baltics Jun. 9th. Mid-30's here traveling with Mum who is 63, looking forward to a great cruise! We're not ultra-fussy eaters and have found most of our dining cruise experiences in the MDR to be quite good (except for my cruise on Carnival...) so we are not really "spenders" for specialty dining. Mum and I have not sailed together since 2008, so a lot has changed in cruising, with Silhouette offering 4+ specialty dining options.... I was thinking of getting us a 3-night dining package, however, I feel that in all reality, Mum's taste would only be up to something like Murano and Tuscan Grill (not so much the avant garde of QSine, or raw food i.e. Porch/Lawn Club/Sushi on 5).

My question to the forum would be.... would it be best to just wait and see if some good offers come up to dine at Murano and Tuscan Grill only? or should we just go with the package? Package seems like a good value for 3 venues, but like I said, I think only 2 sound palatable around now and not keen on repeating... Also, I have searched and it does seem Luminae and Blu are def. not available to non-suite/Aqua Class guests.... is this true? or are these bookable to "traditional" guests? (we're value cruisers, so an inside cabin is perfectly sufficient)

Thanks in advance for your insights!

    Happy Travels!

  9. Thanks for posting this! Also heading to the Baltic/North Sea in June this year, so the insights are great!

Totally understandable that conditions are always changing, I feel like I have pretty good "sea legs", but traveling with my very young 63 y/o mother who's been a pro on cruises before but has a history of seasickness. Will be sure to bring all sorts of back up meds! :)

    Happy Cruising!
