Oceania Cruises has at least one cruise in 2023 and another in 2024 from Miami (round-trip) to Bermuda. We are on the March 12-22, 2023 cruise from Miami with two nights in Bermuda, an overnight in Charleston, SC, and port calls in Nassau, Bahamas, and Port Canaveral.
thx. I recall years ago the originating Port was Charleston. I'll just have to keep my eye out. the one on RC out of Canaveral is do-able.

Cruising to Bermuda is on my bucket list. I recall there were cruises out of Jax, but now I can not find any out of Florida.
I currently live in Central FL, what would my best option be as a port and would Jax be in the foreseeable future?
Thx.

Everyone has their reason for choosing a cruise line, some stay quite loyal as they get more perks with more cruises. While I do not consider myself a seasoned cruiser, will only be going on my 9th in 15 yrs, but we moved from the midwest to FL so we are closer to cruise ports... then covid hits and that came to a screeching halt.
Me .... I go into a cruise with zero expectations, that way I can never be disappointed. I enjoy sitting on the balcony watching the waves. Pure peace and quite. I dont gamble and food is just that, food. I do not need 5 star, though I would hope not to get cold and crappy, which has never happened ~ and I can be fine with the buffet a few times during the week.
all that aside.... it comes to the bottom dollar for me. and flying does add quite an expense, especially these days. cruising with a family is even more costly when you add it all up.
Being retired, I try to watch what I spend - So I've been mostly on Carnival and have always had a great time. I've never had a bad cruise. My next one on RC will be my most costly aside from Alaska, so we shall see if all their bells and whistles keeps me as a customer.
Good for you making the change, sometimes it's not always a good change, but you wont know until you try. Just have a blast as even a bad day on a cruise is better than a good day at work. 😉 because you are on a cruise and not at work.

thx for the input. Hopefully the MDR will be open and we can have a good breakfast before we start the trek home. Weather next week does not look too good anyways... sort of a bummer. It's only a 4 day to the Bahamas, but I dont have to cook or clean for 4 days - so it's perfect.
-
I live in FL so there is no flight to catch, and I hate the hurry and wait to get off the ship.
We have decided to stay on as long as we can and get off at last call.
what is there to do? I imagine that the Buffet for breakfast only last so long... aside from breakfast, can we just hang out on the upper decks?
TIA,

I took a photo on my last cruise, of the outlet.... the way my 3 prong adapter was, I could not get it to work --- it did not swivel, so it was pointed the wrong way and there was not enough room to have it plugged in. (hard to explain, but the wall was right there)
I have one now that i have in my RV where it's a tower, with 4 usb and 2 outlets on a 4' cord. it will work like a champ.
-
I know this is an old thread.... I'll be on the Liberty next month and was wondering the same thing.
I found an article that stated the only ship that currently has them is the Vista.
I'll be bringing my usb tower.
-
I'll be on the Liberty for the 1st time March 4th. Really looking forward to getting away after this COLD winter (yes, I live in central FL)
Glad to see all the positive reviews... I read one yesterday that was not good... but it seemed it was her very first cruise, and probably went in with high expectations. ~ I always have none, then it can't be a bad cruise.
~ Question ..... It's been 2 yrs since my last cruise.... Have the cabins been updated with USB ports? I was reading something on John's blog about it last year or so.
Thanks in Advance,

I too am going for the 1st time next month - can here to do a bit of searching for info.
I had "googled" it - i usually do google images... there is a graphic where it shows everything on their private area.... restaurants, rentals, and i was glad to see lockers. clicking the image took me to another site, Cruiseline... and since i'm not sure if it is kosher to post links to other sites... i wont.
I'm sure there are reviews of the island / private area in here too. (I just haven't located it yet. )
** Edited to add
Guess i was there, on a Princess Cruise long ago, just did not remember til now....

Sort of old news.... but for those interested
Carnival Magic will continue its seven-day schedule from Galveston through April 10, 2016 then reposition to Port Canaveral to launch year-round seven-day Caribbean cruises April 23, 2016. Prior to launching its new seven-day schedule from Port Canaveral, Carnival Magic will operate a special three-day cruise to Nassau April 20-23, 2016. -
The Magic is leaving Galveston April 17th going to Florida.
I'm looking at a 3Day to Nassau out of Canaveral on the Magic. My other choice is a 4 day on the Victory.... But think I'd prefer the Magic.
Just have to get someone to check in on my kitties....

I'll look into the hotels listed... there are about 15 of us flying in from various locations, so vehicle parking will not be an issue.
-
Glad to see I was not the only one.
Probably a network wide glitch.
I WISH I was.... but just was in the middle of a cruise a month ago...

Thanks on the pasta bar. .
I'm not a huge pasta eater... So I just did a bowl of veggies and seafood... think I had them add the alfredo sauce.
the pasta bar is upstairs ... I think not everyone knows about it.
-
I agree... check the deck plans... we were in an opening of the life boats... had a great view.
for me, the only slight con would be the constant "salt spray" from the waves.
awesome balcony - would do it again. We had friends next door, so the panel was opened up so the 4 of us could hang out together.

I know this is a very old thread... but for other "searching" for this Double Tree Westport ... from what I understand, they no longer offer a shuttle.
though my husband just called and the gal that answered said they did. But I honestly think she is confused, as I found posting and on line that they discontinued this service.
we still booked the room as we got it for $99 a nite. and I could not find another room cheaper.

yanno -- I'm in the process of looking for a hotel that offers the free parking for a nights stay to save the $75 it will cost me.... BUT - tampa parking is so easy. right across the street in a big parking garage. It was a snap for us last time.
-
Good to read great review of the Paradise -- I've read a few that were mediocre.
Will be on it in 21 days!!
Can't wait to get back to Grand Cayman.... our last attempt seas were too rough and all we could do is wave as we went past.
Getting excited about heading south again.

not sure if wild cards games are the same as Super Bowl...
but I was cruising for a Super Bowl.... can't recall which one, but whatever parts of the ship they had the game on... it was JAM packed... no where to sit -- so get there early if you want a chair.
it was so crowded in the one bar we were in, we went back to our cabin only to find it was NOT on TV. huge disappointment.
-
Their beaches are fantastic. Went to Orient Beach the first time there, DH loved it, while I found it extremely crowded -- though I have read comments from others who stated it wasn't.
2nd time there we did the Golden Eagle Catamaran trip.... snorkeling was boring, as the seas were rough and really didnt see anything, but the beach we went to was out of this world .... and no one there but us.

thanks for the recap of your cruise. we are booked in Dec of 2014, so far we have a group of 19 [mostly seniors] and I'm thinking half of the group has never been there, including myself.
Curious on the private driver out of LAX, thinking that will be costly.
and since we will be getting back the Sunday before Christmas, I really don't want to fly home on a Sunday, and we are thinking of spending an additional day in LA.
Super excited about this trip, it will be my longest on a ship and my last long vacation was 16 days to Alaska. [the cruise was awesome, sorry to hear you did not enjoy yours]

Sadie -- thanks again -- I did not realize there was a "departure" forum too. Found the west coast one... which is where I should have started this thread.
found the hotels mentioned too. I'm hoping I can get that "code" for next year when i need to book.
-
thanks for the replies....
Once I found where Carnival's terminal was, I browsed [by Google Earth] near by hotels, looking north-ish, but holy cow, I don't want to drop $250 a night for a room.
Love TripAdvisor... I'll check there too. Used them when we booked in Vancouver.
Sadie -- thanks for that tip. ~~ off to find WestCoast Departure board

I am looking for recommendations for a hotel for a night or two in Long Beach.
Will be cruising on Carnival.
Would like to be near the port if possible.
I know I can google hotels, but I'd like to hear where others have stayed and if any are more recommended over others.
Thanks in Advance,
Where is my bed?

Thank you for that. I prefer it near the balcony.
Came here to post some pics for anyone curious of the layout of a standard balcony cabin.
Just got off the Wonder, cabin 9282 bed near the balcony. (Last year the sofa was there and that's not my preferred layout)
All but 1 night I slept with the slider open, which was heavenly.
