  1. I am actually scared of 15 alcoholic drinks a day only (on vacation) I do normally start with Champagne or a ScrewDriver my mornings and from that point it goes downhill until the wee hours of the morning. A friend told me one gets cut off after consuming 15 drinks, but I think one can just purchase afterwards for the regular bar price.

  2. So, there is something called the RETREAT PASS, which gets you full access to all the Suite/Retreat amenities. There is only 2-4 per cruise for certain circumstances. 1. One needs to be just got into The Retreat, no other Retreat Suites available anymore to upgrade/upsell the other couple. They still need to be as well on the move up program with a high bid in case something becomes available further towards the cruise and they will lock in those prices, we sail in one week. Then it is roughly $100 per person a day. They do not count nights, so our 4 night was counted as 5 days. $1000 extra for them to be with us and not have a Suite.

So just in case you book a Suite and your kids or friends in a regular room, and Suites are available that time they will not get that pass.

  3. Hi folks,

I just have won an upgrade to a Sky Suite (9123) but my friends did not since the ship is now totally sold out. 1st I would like to know how noisy Suite 9123 under the pool deck is. I am really concerned. We have the same boarding time, but will we be able to walk on together through the Retreat check-in door in Miami? As I got off the phone with Celebrity, I got told we cannot dine together in either restaurant together or have to choose the MDR if we do so. I thought Retreat guests can dine for free in BLU and we could invite them do have lunch/dinner with us in Luminae for an extra charge (what would be the charge as of now?). Also I know we can not take our friends to the Retreat Deck or Lounge, the purpose was to be together for my best friends 40st birthday and now its a total mess. And yes they bid as well and I guess we did get the last Suite available. It would be great if someone could tell me how strict they are and how much extra cost will be in front of us to take my friends as much as close with us as possible.

    Thank you!

  4. I am booked on May 7th 2023 on the Seaside, had the same questions, but get told it is supposed to be better then Celebrity Retreat or NCL Haven. Going by myself in an inside to try it out and for a 4 night cruise it should be fine with the storage. The rest of the ship....hmmmm LOL

  5. I just canceled our March cruise and rebooked for November. Under no circumstances I would wear a mask on a cruise ship. The only once working are the 95 or FFP2 kind, for guys even clean shaven otherwise they do NOTHING for a Virus. That sad, if somebody feels safe with some cloth over their face, do it. Honestly I am not willed to pay thousands of $ to be restricted on my vacation. This Virus will not go away...we have to start living with it. I had Covid 2 times and I am 2 times vaccinated.

A few followup thoughts on the inaugural...shakedown cruise.

I did not expect perfection, as this was a start up shakedown cruise. I was told before the cruise there were going to be very few paying passengers. I spoke to many film crew, travel agents, travel writers on board; reception told me only 35 actually paying passengers were onboard. The remainder were company officials like the president of the company and administrative officials.

with so few passengers I expected a reduced operation, with not all venues up and operating all at the same time.

An inaugural in the full sense, no but a shakedown in reality. Even Celebrity has been operating at a slimmed down operation on their start up cruises.

I listened to some passengers raving about SeaDream...that’s ok. But one couple that raved about seadream did it on the shuttle to the Sea Breeze doing a comparison before even getting to the ship. The same women was seated next to me on the return flight an refused to keep her mask on...belligerent and foul mouthed. But that’s another story.

as to the gym....I used it every day, particularly the elypticals.

the gym had about 3 or 4 people in it at any given time...the regulars😎

I enjoyed Candles twice, food was lovely.

Cuadro 44...not to my liking. Flavors were unusual for my pallet and once was enough. Eating alfresco up at the Star Bar area was my favorite. I thought the food was just fine, especially the lamb and pork.
All the crew were friendly and very upbeat.

As this was my 89 cruise I have learned nothing is perfect, and I go to enjoy the entire experience.

Again, I enjoyed the shake down cruise. I received my refund and immediately booked a Nov 2022 on the Pride out of San Juan.
I liked the size of the ship, the friendly service, food to my liking and the water platform. The outdoor bar b q was held out on deck one evening, I thought the spread was more than adequate...especially the shrimp, steak and lobster tails on the grill.

Note....a nasal swab was performed towards the end of the cruise and a test result was printed out and delivered to my stateroom.

All in all under all the pandemic issues and limitations I was pleased.

As for wearing a mask, I wore mine when in the hallways. I did not wear one while dinning, nor at the bar, the lounges nor out on deck.

If there was one negative, it was a few rude passengers, but you can find them on any ship, affluence does not guarantee good manners.

I stand firm, I was pleased.

Next up Celebrity Edge in September for number 90. Some reviews of her start up are yielding complaints.....not going to stop me. People in this world are struggling, and I’m going on cruises.....I just can’t complain.

    Hey Tom,

looks like I will take The Pride from Boston to San Juan for you:-)! I am so happy you enjoyed WS, but YES SeaDream is a bit different...maybe more lux in the included drinks department, but that's it! Food and Service is basically the same, better Cabins on the WS Yachts. Actually I do enjoy WS more!

  7. I am booked in an Mini Suite on the NCL SUN for around $1300 total for the 3 night cruise on July 13th.

The Penthouse is available for regular booking at around $1800 total for 2 Guests.

I got an upgrade offer for $320 a person and up from there...

So the upgrade would cost more then to book it original and get all the 5 perks too!

Is this normal...I could see that from a inside or balcony to be a fair offer, but not if the difference is actually less then the upgrade offer!

  8. It may helps others:

My friend is currently cruising in the Penthouse on the Equinox in the Caribbean. Yesterday her 2 year old and other kids under the age of 3 (even in swim diapers) got pulled out of the pool and they stated NO KIDS under the age of 3 are allowed anymore in the pool. My friend had a chat last night with the Hotel Director and he stated it is a new overnight implemented rule.

Good for some, not so good for others.

    It may changes again!

  9. I will be on my first WS cruise this Wednesday, but in all of the threads and reviews I've read people said if they arrived before 1:00, they had to check their bag at a tent that was set up on the pier but had to wait until 1:00 for boarding. It sounds like most people that arrive early check their bags and do some shopping or eating at the businesses around the port.

    Thank you!

  10. It should have the same cabin layout as the rest, just a different bathroom! I did also the GTY and got a nice cabin mid ship 1 deck up from you!

I would try to call Windstar and tell them a Handicap Suite is unacceptable for you, they may change it! I have a very nice guy in Seattle dealing with my booking!

    When are you cruising? Gruesse!
