  1. I’m on the Breeze in a week, had a great casino deal with guaranteed balcony.  A couple weeks ago my cabin number popped up and I’m in a cove balcony so I’m good with that, I’ve always wanted to try one. I’m under the galley but I don’t care.

Anyone cruise in 2021 with this offer yet?  I am due to get onboard the Miracle in two weeks and am curious how this 'free drinks anywhere' differs from the Cheers program.  Anyone able to tell me if it is identical (15 daily limit - 5 minutes between purchases). This is part of the deal i got and want to know how it works.  Let me know.

I used it on the Breeze last month, just like cheers package.  You can use it for any drink or specialty coffee, etc.  If any of you are sailing from Galveston you just have to remember you can’t use it until 7am the next morning, crazy Texas liquor law.

Thanks for the details! Other than the obvious restroom and showers, are these areas coed or is there a full men’s and women’s side of everything?

I was on the Breeze a couple of weeks ago and everything is coed, except for the areas you mentioned.

It has been quite a while since we cruised with a teenager but to accomodate him and to maintain contact with a friend who was caring for our furry family members we set up a data plan that we could use in ports with ATT.  Give them a call and see what they have to offer.  But, it is also a good time for her to disconnect and make new friends on board that could become friends for life!

I was on the Breeze last week, and my plan was to text my kids from Cozumel to check in with them.  We’ve always been able to walk up to the guy at the entrance to any of the bars close to the entrance of the plaza, tell him we want a drink and they’ll give you the password for their internet so you can call or text.

I tried my usual routine and at all three bars they all said”we’ve been having trouble with it let me see if it’s working.  Pulled their phone out of their pocket, looked at it and said “no still not working”.  I just had a gut feeling that it was scripted and they just don’t want to give it out anymore.  So when I got back on the ship I found the 24 hr internet you can get for $14.  It was a good way to check in and do whatever you want to do on the internet for 24 hrs a lot cheaper than what it would cost on your phone plan.  Others may have a different experience and was able to get passwords still on the dock at Cozumel, but the 24 hr internet onboard is a pretty cheap alternative if you need it.

Thank you So much for your words of wisdom! I'll stop stressing, stick with my plan and toast you with an umbrella drink once onboard!!

Good Deal,  and just remember if you miss your original boarding time they’re still going to let you board:) As long as she’s still tied to the dock I’ve seen them let people on just before they were going to pull the gangway back, lol

  6. I forgot to comment on your route…. If it were me I’d get to 45 and take it. 146 has a lot of lights on it and will take you longer than you think looking at it on your phone.  Plus it’s just a regular highway and you’re better off just taking 45….my opinion, lol

First time cruising from Galveston and now I'm getting nervous. On the Breeze this Saturday 8/21 and looking to stay at a hotel off I-10 in Channelview - 50 miles to the port via Rte.8 and I-45. Now thinking it might be better to stay near La Porte and taking Rte. 146 down to I-45 - 35 miles and avoids most of I-45. Would appreciate any insight/advice from a "local". Thanks!

I lived in Houston/Galveston area 3 different times for a lot of years, and there really is no “magic bullet” as to where to stay and how to get to the port.  I no longer live there now, but I have a son in Houston and a sister in Santa Fe which is about 15-20 minutes from the port.

I always come in the day before, or longer if I can to visit, and head to the port in the morning.  If you are going towards Galveston in the morning you have the advantage of most of the traffic in the morning heading toward Houston. What you can’t control are the accidents, and even if it’s in the opposite direction you are heading everything slows down because of the Looky Lou’s!  The alternative routes then get congested because of the locals who know where to go and everybody else using their phones giving them alternative routes.

So the best you can do is plan the route you’re comfortable with and don’t fret over things you can’t control.  I usually get there early and if it’s too early to go to the terminal drive down the sea wall and look at the ocean for a while😎.  If I’m early I’ll go to Starbucks and get coffee, you’ll be right across the street from the ship and you can watch people coming and going.  You’ll be ok, just give yourself a little extra time to get there and you’ll have a little time to relax before you board!

  8. Just off the Breeze yesterday.  I never heard a percentage given, but you could definitely tell all over the ship that it had to be 70% or less.  I never waited in line behind more than 2 people and most of the time just walked up to the counter. Never waited long for elevators, empty lounge chairs, etc

I’ll just throw in that boarding and getting off was incredibly fast.  Almost everything is facial recognition, especially debarking.  I’m old and could hardly keep up with how fast everyone was moving, lol! I was in the car across the street at Galveston Park and Cruise in 15 minutes, trying to catch my breath, lol.

  9. My daughter and son in law are on the Miracle now and we talked this morning. She said there are a few people in masks on the ship but Carnival has not implemented any mask rules. She figured they would probably have to wear them inside the shops, etc onshore. I told her about the storm that is going on now after the implementation of the mask rule and they are blissfully mask free if they want to be:)

  10. I have the N95 masks and I have plain white paper masks that I’ll double if I need to. I have a bunch of cotton more decorative ones I’m bringing.  I retired from over 50 yrs in healthcare so masks are second nature with me, and since I’m old I wore them religiously on the rare occasion I did leave the house during the quarantine days.

That being said, would I rather NOT have to wear masks.  Of course, but I haven’t cruised in over two years, and if masks are required then masks I shall wear😷🛳👍
