  1. Well my wife and I did a brief one night re-positioning cruise on Norwegian about 10 years ago. Left Seattle at 4pm and got off in Vancouver BC around 8am. Enjoyed it but....

So we've booked our family for the Feb 16th sailing on the Valor out of San Juan. Wife and I and our two boys 12 and 17 years old.

Looking forward to it. Never stepped foot on a Carnival boat and while I've heard mixed opinions, I imagine having limited cruise experience and what seems like a busy but exciting itinerary should make for a fun vacation.

Any thoughts or opinions, must do's for this trip?

I'm on that cruise too Go to Roll Call find the Valor then look for 2/16 There are tons of posts of people's itineraries...

  2. Once you have booked your excursion with Carnival you need to find an excursion that is the same through a private company. I found one thru a post by someone on CC on our rollcall (posted link above), the other I found with a simple google search. Excursions must match as to duration and other particulars. For example, is lunch provided?, etc. Then search on Carnival website....."Excursion Guarantee" That will bring up the form you will need to fill out to claim the credit. The form is simple and is included in the copy of the email in my post above. I sent in both forms at approx. noon last Thurs and rec'd acceptances with credits around 6-7 pm that evening. I don't know if I just got lucky this time or what, but I will take the OBC without complaint!

great thanks for your quick response

  3. Just a heads up / share the information on the Marriott day pass situation for Wed., 1/22. I made a call yesterday to check on availability for that day, person at the front desk told me they have a pretty full hotel situation that day and suggested I call back and check 1/22 when I get off the ship. The place looks great, as is the feedback on it, and that's still my No. 1 choice for the day --- but if that's in your plans Wednesday, you might want to have a back-up plan.

What is the cost of the day pass and what does it include?

  4. We just did St Martin on our own a couple of weeks ago. We took the water taxi downtown and did a little shopping. Didn't really get anything but at least walked around. We then grabbed a local bus for $2 pp, really a passenger van, and went to Maho Beach to see the planes come in. Unfortunately, it started raining really heavy just as we got to the beach. It was short lived but we were soaked to the skin. We got some great pictures though. I sat at the Sunset Beach bar with a cold drink and took pictures as my DH used his DSLR to take over 250 pictures in 2 hours. We then took a cab back to the port and did some shopping there.

Here is one of my pictures from my little point and shoot. Who needs an expensive camera.;):D

how much is the water taxi?

  5. So I have a contact in St Thomas. Ali and sons taxis and tours. Ali is so great. Will take you where ever you want to go. If you have a group, he will take you to Coki beach, come back for you when you are done, and take you anywhere else on the island. I would highly reccommend him

I read about ali elsewhere. Where did you hear about him?
